Hi there! Thank you for your feedback. Yes, there is a small gap between the panels, so they can slide freely in the enclosure. However, there should not be an abnormal amount of leakage if the door was installed correctly. Please confirm that the inner panel is placed on the side of the shower head and the outer panel is placed away from the shower head. If the doors are not installed in the correct place, water from the showerhead will directly point toward the gap between the glass panels and cause water to leak out. Therefore, the correct layout of the glass is highly important to minimizing leakage. While I can't see your exact order, the product you reviewed does not have our protective coating applied as a standard. However, we do offer our AquaGlideXP coating as factory pre-applied glass protection or our ShowerGuard Clear glass on select online products. Our AquaGlideXP coating can always be added when a custom order is placed directly through a distributor. Now that you already have your door, we can't turn back time, but the good news is that we offer our AquaGlideXP as a DIY kit online. You can order the kit on our website (https://bascoshowerdoor.com/support/care-cleaning/aquaglide-xp-home-kit) and apply the coating at your convenience.
