The Pump is well made the oil fillers are now plastic. The one that this is replacing is from the 70's. So, if you oil it every year and keep it clean it should last. Get the gasket kit to go with it. In my application it made a big difference. Note the motor and pump can be rotated to fit the application - just keep the motor in the position so oil fillers are at the top.

Purchased this as a replacement for my previous B&G series 100 circulating pump which is on my radiant heating system. The previous pump was there when I moved into my house over 22 years ago and I'd say it was already at least 15 years old then. So after 37 years, I got plenty of life out of it. Also, my previous pump motor was fine, but the middle section bearings were shot. Could have just purchased that part, but figured the motor can't be too far behind so purchased whole unit. Installation was easy since I was only replacing the same model pump. Maybe an hour total, including removal of previous pump. Be sure to buy an extra oil tube. I found that even after I oiled it with the first tube it was still very tight and I needed to work the oil in manually by spinning the spring coupling connected to the bearing shaft numerous times till it spun freely. This required a 2nd tube to be added to the bearing section oil port that luckily I did buy. The pump makes slightly more sound than my previous unit (Still very quiet) but I attribute that to still being in the break in period. I will keep my old motor as a back up, but doubt I will need it if they are still making them the way they did 37 years ago. One difference in my old pump to new is that the old pump had easier access to the oil fill tubes for the motor and had better caps. Otherwise it is relatively the same pump.

The only bad thing I would say about this pump is the required maintenance otherwise its the perfect pump.

Bought this pump to replace the one that we installed when we built the house in 1972!!!!Terribly disappointed the original only lasted for 46 years! Even when it failed, it was just a shaft seal, which we could have replaced and probably been good for another 40 or 50 years, but looking at a $300.00 unit with that lifetime, it's about $6.50 a year, so we decided to retire it and put in the new one.(Keeping the old one for it's good motor and mostly good pump parts) Besides, pump shaft seals are a PIA to remove/replace, and the whole exchange for the new pump/motor assembly was 4 bolts and 2 120vac wires, totally simple and less than an hour all told. Only fail point with this unit was the motor to pump coupling, which was replaced 3 or 4 times when the anti-vibration springs in the coupling wore out. An amazing piece of equipment and technology for the time, and so successful that the replacement was exactly, precisely, and unrelentingly identical to the vintage 1972 original. (They did change the paint from flat black to bright glossy red, but who can blame them for showing off a little?) Highly recommended. B&G rules this market, and deservedly so.

The pump was damaged and did not work. I had to return it and reorder.

Easy instalation. Very quiet. So far so good. No complaints house is nice and warm!!!
