Easy to install but watch out for the shank length!
I installed this Temperature&Pressure relief valve to replace a defective TP valve in our GE SmartWater heater (installed in Jan 2006). The old TP valve leaked when the water temperature was set near the "white" (optimal temperature) mark. I initially bought the 1-1/4" shank version but after removing the old TP valve, realized that our heater uses the 2-1/2" shank. So that's something to watch out for - you won't know the shank length you need until you remove the old valve. Oh and be sure to set the water temp all the way down to 'vacation mode' or lower and also close the cold water inlet valve before you drain the water from the tank to just below the valve level. You will also need to leave a couple hot water faucets open in the house. Use teflon tape on the valve threads before tightening the TP valve - don't use a lot of torque, it should fit just snug before you attach the downspout tube.

          Broken drain line
Had to replace relief valve because the pvc screwed in broke and could not be replaced. Meet my need to avoid this from happening again.

easy retrofit, buy yourself a good wrench for install, its worth it.
simple install as long as you are aware what you need to do to drain the tank to the pressure relief level. Depending on your install and drainage, you might get some practice working on your PVC skills as well. A few install videos on the web were great to make this an easy install.
