I don't know why they bother selling refills for these, as they never last long enough to refill. I've been through two of them, both have stopped working well before the fuel runs out.

I purchased this so that I could lite my water heater pilot light. It produced a steady flame a little over a quarter of an inch long. The flexible neck was long enough to reach the end of the water heater pilot tube and it did the job. The lighter seems well made. I'm happy with it.

I loved this, refilled it a few times. It came with a refill cartridge but I can't get it open to install. The lighter works occasionally but isn't a strong torch anymore so I thought I should replace the cartridge but can't get the lighter open.

Had this lighter for about about 8 months or so until it stopped working. Got it because I like the torch lighters for lighting charcoal and fire starters, it was seemed great because it was refillable which is hard to find in lighters nowadays. After 6 months or so the little metal wire across the opening melted but it kept working, then recently it just died and went work anymore, which stinks. It worked great until it died. But the fact that the metal wire melted speaks to cheap construction and materials of it can't withstand the temperature of the lighter, like building a car where the windshield breaks if you go over 30mph. Knowing that it will die in less than a year I probably won't get another one, gas station lighters last longer.

Bought 2, one didn't work out of the package, second had such a small flame, it would barely catch newspaper on fire.

I essentially have 3 uses for one of these long-neck lighters: my home's gas-fired fireplace, an outside fire-pit, and scented candles. For the fireplace and the fire pit, the flexible neck hasn't provided much benefit. It's those scented candles where it's come in the handiest. Some of the candles are in tall glass jars. After they've burned for a while the wax and wick can get pretty low, and the fluttery flame of those regular long-necked butane lighters can be difficult to operate, especially by my 15 year old you seems to have developed a scented-candle fetish. Her fondness for the scents the candles give off causes her to ask if she can light them fairly frequently. She's not super coordinated using lighters because of inexperience (thank goodness!). This torch, with it's flexible neck that she can bend to whatever angle she wants, combined with the torch's flame shooting out the front has made it much easier for her to manage lighting the candles! There's a little wire coil in the tip of the torch that makes the flame glow orange. I'm not sure exactly why such a feature was included, but it does make it easier to see the flame, which helps out my little 15 y.o. butter-fingers. Also amazingly handy is the visible reservoir. How come more companies don't do this? This is SO handy! Got gas? No guess. Look glass. See gas. Simple. Effective. You can see the liquid butane sloshing around in there and know exactly how much you have and if you need a refill. Plus seeing the level of the liquid fuel rise when refilling makes it SO MUCH EASIER to refill the lighter properly. I can't overstate this. Given all that, the lighter isn't perfect. I did notice after refilling a tiny stream of bubbles coming up through the liquid visible through the reservoir's window. That meant if air is getting in, butane is getting out. It cleared up after a minute, sealing itself better, but without the glass I wouldn't have known until a fiery incident occurred.

I bought this product for my husband to light his grill and outdoor fireplace. It seemed like a great gift at the time with cool flex-nozzle and could be refilled - sad to say he is very disappointed when it stopped working after just a few uses.

unit worked for a few minutes twice then quit, buy a better torch not from china.

Sadly it stopped working after about a month of daily use for my fireplace. Hoping they will help me with a warranty.

Really just not a good product. It barely works. When it does work it looks NOTHING like the photo of the flame. Pass on this one.

After 3 months lighter is difficult to ignite indoors, impossible outdoors.

Awesome lighter to use, especially when camping.

Piece of garbage. Refill doesn't work. Striker doesn't work. I threw it away and removed Home Depot from my vendor list.

Spotty product quality. Remove it from the package right away and test it! I had 3 failures out of 7 purchased. I wanted 4 and just kept exchanging until I found some that worked. When they work properly, the flame is adjustable from small to roaring. The marginal ones will only light when you turn them all the way up. The bad ones won't light at all. Energetic flame if the one you buy has a flame at all!

Unfortunately barely works, looks good, but usually takes 5+ clicks to light. Would gladly pay $20+ for a refillable one that actually worked, made in the USA would be nice as well. Should have known based on the price that it was junk

I expected a better performance than the ordinary ones. It is actually worst than most of the cheap brands. It won't work most the time, even if you give it some gas before trigger the spark. Totally unacceptable coming from Bernzomatic.

Great Lighter. I bought 2 of these 10 years ago. I am still using one of them, the other one I poked the tip into a stick while it was burning and the nozzle wire broke. My bad! I am glad to see the new version has a thick nozzle wire and is protected to prevent that problem. I looked for them for many years and finally found them at Home Depot. I would never have looked in the tool isle where they are located with the other Bernzomatic tools. Fortunately the website showed isle number and bin location. I think they would sell more of these if they also put them with the grills. I bought 3 of them and after testing them I was so impressed I went back and bought 7 more for Christmas gifts.

I have one that is 10 years old and still working. When I bought 2 pcs 10 yrs ago I poked out the wire in the nozzle on 1 and learned my lesson it no longer worked after that. My fault. I have been looking for more because all of the other candle lighters are impossible for my wife to operate and they do not work in the cold and wind. This one does. I bought 3 this week and was so impressed I bought 7 more for Christmas presents. It's a good thing Home Depot included a isle and bin location on the web site or I would never have found it in the tools isle. It should also be located in the outdoor and grilling isle and it would sell a lot more.

Best lighter I have ever used. Refillable also. Great value.

It's a solid lighter if you get a functional one. Good for just about anything around the house. If it works that is. I'm returning my 3rd one in 2 weeks and no, I won't roll the dice on a fourth. They all worked great until: #1) The delicate metal filament on top falls out. Don't store this in your junk drawer or anywhere it may bump. try#2) After following the package instructions AND online instructions, it wouldn't hold a flame after refuelling with the package-recommended butane. Flushed several times and tried every forum worth my $5 and nada. #3) (hey I thought I couldn't really strike out right? not at home depot.) I struck out. Tested in the store before I left and everything. Golden. Used it to light a scented candle (2-3 sec) twice. Wouldn't light anymore. No debris clogging it, pressure was fine, and tried everything on the butane lighter maintenance checklist. Further attempts to light it after a few hours led me to find a leak in the neck itself. Bottom Line: Yeah if it actually worked, it would be a steal. But they are just stealing from you instead. Just buy a bic or zippo version. Not this hunk o' junk.
