A:  Just being flammable does not indicate toxicity. Wood is flammable, but it is not toxic. This product is simply wax, so it is likely safe. However, I am in agreement with the manufacturer answer (and others) that you should properly store the product and prevent potential calamity through proper storage and use.

A:  Hi John! Our lighter cubes have not been tested on animals to obtain some toxicological data, but we would recommend keeping them out of reach from your pets. Thanks!

A:  You can place one cube under briquettes but it will take longer to burn briquettes. I highly recommend getting a chimney starter and placing one cube under chimney.

A:  You will be better results by using a charcoal chimney and placing the cube under the charcoal. The coals will be ready to pour in 10 minutes. A big advantage of the cubes is there is no scent imparted to the charcoal. Many people can taste lighter fluid even after the coals have seasoned. None of that with these cubes.

Used just two of these with the large Weber Rapidfire Chimney Charcoal Starter chimney and they were lit up fully in about 10-15 minutes, way better than newspaper etc. They light very easily with a butane stick lighter.

                                      Great for smoking
Don't bother using these with a chimney. Just stuff the chimney with newsprint or brown paper bags and light with a match. Paper honestly works great as it burns hot and fast evenly across the bottom of the chimney and the lit coals do the rest. These are perfect for smoking, where you want to light a small amount of coals in the corner of a charcoal basket or banked coal arrangement. Put one on the bottom and strategically stack some coals around and on top without squishing it and it'll light those coals nice and slow so you can dial in those low temps for smoking.

I've been using these for years without an issue. Suddenly the box looks different and they come out in moist pieces. Don't think I will buy any more.

Works great with the Weber Rapidfire Chimney Charcoal Starter!
You just need to use one of these cubes with the chimney charcoal starter and your coals will be ready for grilling in 20 minutes! Much easier and cleaner than using a piece of newspaper to start the fire, and they produce a large flame to get the coal hot quickly.

                                          Perfect
I first learned about these on a BBQ forum but now use them whenever I light fires. They are made of paraffin wax so they catch quickly and burn long enough to get the fire going nicely. They come in what looks like a large pill blister pack which means every cube is individually sealed. Since the cubes are wax they don't absorb water. You can literally drop a cube in water, take it out, then light it. I use these to light my smoker and fire pit. We also take them camping. They are odorless and easy to store. I've tried other fire starter products but none are as simple and affordable as these cubes.
