We've had for 4 years and now have to purchase a new one. Oil is spewing out all over floor. Doesn't even get run hard...only 3 person family. Will be purchasing a different brand for sure.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best washer I have ever owned. It's super user friendly and works to get my clothes clean in an energy efficient manner. The top loading aspect has been a nice change for me as it is easy to get clothes in and out and is much less stinky than the front loading washers I have owned. This washer also has a light that indicates when a clean cycle needs to be run. You simply purchase small tablets and place one of which in the washer 1x/month and choose the right option to run the cycle. Voila! Smells great and continues to clean perfectly.

I have replace an 18yr old Maytag with this and am beyond disappointed. I followed directions and have clothes coming out dry, soapy and still not clean. If slacks or jeans are washed they come out literally in knots. I called service and was told to put my clothes around center in little piles, really?!?! I now do very small loads only on the bulky setting to assure they are all at least wet. The tub never fills above 1/2 full no matter how many clothes are put in. Forget about doing blankets or quilts in this machine they will NOT get clean. It goes off balance constantly and then refills, spins, refills, spins, how is this HE?????

I purchased this machine in July of 2014. I do numerous loads of laundry every week, as I run a bed & breakfast. In the past, I have used a basic household washing machine. I had hoped this machine would allow me to wash larger loads, faster, with greater energy efficiency. This machine does handle loads which are about 20% larger than my previous household style washers, but it is not faster. I have 3 major complaints about this machine. 1) The machine really beats up towels. With previous machines, my towels stayed in very good condition for 4 years. Now, towels are only lasting 2 years before they become frayed and tattered along the edges. They also develop pulls all over them, which did not happen with past machines I have owned. I think these problems might be related to the fact that the machine uses such low water, that the fabrics end up rubbing so hard on each other like sandpaper. Also, the high speed spin might be beating the fabrics up as well. In either case, I am now having to buy towels and sheets twice as often as I previously bought them. 2) The area around the bleach dish is rusting out horribly. I do not know if this is a design flaw or a use of shoddy materials, but it is unacceptable to open the lid of your 2 year old washing machine and see a big area of rust developing. I will include photographic evidence of this. 3) You cannot let items soak in the tub, as it does not fill up with water. With past machines, I could let the tub fill and let dirty delicates soak for a while before letting the cycle resume. This helped loosen the dirt and release smells. Unable to do this, I find that my clothes does not come clean during the short, low water delicate cycle. For the same reason, you cannot use this machine to dye any fabrics. Another minor complaint is that as time has gone by, what started as an unbelievably quiet machine has become quite loud. I suppose the near silence was to good to last, but since it was the most redeeming feature of this machine, it is sad to see it go. As you can tell, I am not satisfied with this purchase given the cost and the fact that I had hoped it would perform at least as well as previous ordinary washing machines I'd purchased from a used appliance store for $200.

Quiet, efficient and large enough for even my largest loads ! Saves me money on hot water and detergent . Cleans my clothes thoroughly without damage !

Owned the new HE washer and dryer set for about 4 months. Haven't truly noticed savings on my electric bill or water bill yet overall but I am glad I made the purchase. However, the wash cycles are twice as long as my old Kenmore washing machine! That is one drawback from these new style washers. Don't be in a hurry to put your load into the dryer!

I bought this washer 3 months about and I am so happy I did!

We have had the washer for 6 weeks. Overall very pleased. Pros-Energy efficient,quiet, large capacity, clothes real clean. Cons-lots of wrinkles, need to run dryer a 2nd time for some shirts and pants. Have tried using a lower spin speed to help reduce wrinkles, that didn't help. Might try to use the Bulky setting to see if that helps, although that defeats the purpose of the water saving features. With that said, would still buy this washer again, it's a very good machine for the price.

I bought this model a few mths ago and I am very pleased with it so far. Would recommend this product to my friends. I now enjoy washing clothes and get my washing and drying done much faster. I have also noticed a small difference in my light bill for the better.

We have owend a set of May tags for twelve years it was the best thing my wife found she did her homework. She wanted a set that would stand up to our day to day use with out having to repair them, I work in the oil fields and there's lot's that gets on one clothing lol, I wanted to get her a set that would last us another twelve years they are as reliable as you say. Not only did we get a good set washer and dryer we got a grate price on both of them.

Since I purchased the washer in November 2013 its ruined 3 blankets, 6 pairs of pants, 5 bath towels and three shirts. it tears things to shreds regardless of how you put items in the washer. I have contacted Maytag numerous times about this but they refuse to honor there product deficiencies. Once they have your money your stuck. So buyer beware and avoid this product as if it were the plague.

Purchased to replace a 20 year old washing machine. The high efficiency feature is very different than our previous washer but really cleans the clothes well. The large, open drum is a nice feature and handles large loads easily.

I didn't need a washer for a family of five, but I needed something big enough for blankets, dog beds, towels for when I have guest.This machine is amazing and also love the delicate cycle for the hand wash items I own but don't have time to hand wash.This machine helps keep my house clean from my 88lbs Walker Hound Dog , the sofa cover is washed frequently :) runs at night , I never hear it

Is it wrong to come home and WANT to do laundry? I am that way every day now that I have this. Who thought my clothes would be clean and hardly use water? This machine is awesome. I washed a queen down alternative comforter and it didn't even fill up the washer. I haven't been able to wash a large enough load to fill my washer. It's smart, I used too much HE soap and it yelled at me. I barely use soap now at all.

These Maytag Bravos XL machines can wash several blankets at a time. The drum is huge!! All items come out clean and fresh even when doing large loads. They are also energy friendly and use very little water. Excellent machines. I love them.

This washer seems to clean clothes well in small and medium loads. Since it spins so fast, it's best to wash a comforter separate from towels. The comforter traps air and causes the machine to be off balanced. The machine looks sleek and the glass top makes it fun and scary to watch the machine in action. When I received the washer, I was not certain that it was the correct machine. The center hub on the agitator is white and not chrome, as shown in the HD web site. The owners manual shown more features that the machine actually has. However, the specs on the web site matches what I got. I like that it uses a lot less water and extracts water more efficiently. The discharge hose was not easy to secure to our wash tub. I hope this unit lasts 20 yrs like my last washer.

I previously owned a top loader traditional Maytag, which lasted 15 years before the motor went belly up. I decided to stick with Maytag due to reputation. I was somewhat hesitant about buying a "HE" washer, as I heard problems with clothes being destroyed, but the reviews for this particular model were good, so I went with it. I've had the washer for 3 months, and I noticed towels coming out with shredded sides right from the beginning. I made sure the washer was loaded properly, as per the instructions. But after this much time, I see a trend - white cotton towels being shredded on the sides. Last night I washed 4 nearly new white towels, and one came out destroyed on one side. I have not noticed this with other clothing, shirts, sheets and what not come out fine. It may be the denser material in the white towels, who knows, but they are definitely getting destroyed by this washer. Given the choice again, I would go with a front loader.

This is my first High Efficiency washer and I was pleasantly surprised at the difference in cleanliness of my clothes!! I should also mention that there was nothing wrong with my old washer. I just moved and didn't bring it with. I always thought the old one did a good job but after the first few loads, I realized how much cleaner my clothes were coming out with the Maytag HE washer. I read a ton of reviews before i made any purchases. The noises my new HE washer makes are certainly different from a old one, but it is not any louder or quieter than my old washer.. The price was exactly where I wanted to be; I would definitely say it was a fantastic value! It's nothing too fancy, but still does the job very well. It is very important to READ THE USE AND CARE GUIDE! I read that booklet from start to finish to make sure I was going to make the most of my purchase and you should too. If you are making the switch to an HE washer or just need to replace an old washer but you don't want to spend a fortune, I RECOMMEND THE BRAVOS XL HE TOP LOADER! A+ :)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved my Maytag washer for the nine years that it worked. It suddenly started to quit at the spin cycle. I replaced it with an LG after a repairman said I'd need a new motor.

We have had nothing but problems since we got this. Under warranty parts were replaced and now a year later same problem, no longer under warranty. Getting a new one after only a few years :(

This washer because of the EPA puts about a cup of water per load. Clothes come out dry with soap still on . I would never buy one of these again. I have been told you can’t put new sensors in it to actually put water in the tank. You would get cleaner clothes if you put them in a bucket of water and beat them with a rock.

I bought my Maytag set 4.5 years ago and I’m very disappointed in my purchase. My washer is continuously spinning and filling up with water spinning and repeating this cycle it will not just spin out after a wash and allow me to dry my clothing. It’s always off balance no matter how little the load or large the load. I even the clothing out each time and it doesn’t matter.

It’s sounded great. 10 year warranty on parts…..only a select few though. The Bravo washer started walking across the the room less than two years into ownership. Service people came and claimed nothing wrong and even blamed the floor. When they finally agreed there was a problem, they replaced one item but when it came to replacing the part covered under warranty, they needed to break a part to get it out and the part they had to break isn’t under warranty. This part was $120. RIDICULOUS. I’ll repeat this. They had to break a part, in order to remove the part that needed replacing. Apparently happens often according to repairman. Buy something else. Worse washer and WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.

I purchased this washer from Sears on 10/3/18. I love the washer; however, on 1/2/19 the transmission went out. I think the transmission was replaced and this washer has run beautifully. It is large. It cleans my clothes great. I have no complaints about this washer.

This washer is not even 3.5 yrs old, we are just two people, so not tons of washing like a family! The "brain" died today mid-load. No longer under warranty and I didn't buy the extended. Called 3 places to service. It literally will cost almost $600 between serv. call, part, labor and taxes to fix it. 3 yrs 4 months old and it's basically JUNK! And...I had a Maytag prior that we junked around 4-5 yrs old because of same type of issue and not worth fixing. Why do we get Maytag? I'm downsizing my next washer so I don't need to. It's a dimensions issue only. Our washer/dryer are in a closet in hallway. Convenient but limited. Not so much width but depth. Samsung etc are just a bit too wide front to back. That's why I will downsize on what the tub holds....to get away from Maytag and Whirlpool.

Bought this Washer Dryer Combo for my mom. The washer 2 months after we bought it they had to send a repairman out to replace some sensor and now 2 years a repairman came back out and it needs a Users Interface, Main Control, and a Gear case totaling $900 for parts. The whole machine new didnt cost that. Biggest hunk of junk Ive ever bought. I do not recommend this machine or maytag as theyre customer service sucks. Id give it zeros stars if i could
