These are the only way to fly if you're unsure of your final finished wall thickness. Yes, they are $5 more than a standard box fixed flange box, but if you ever decide to add paneling or tile at some later date, these allow for that adjustment without mickey mouseing the box with extensions and such. Just a turn of the adjustment screw is all it takes for a perfect depth placement. I think they are well worth the extra cost.

This is a great box to use in a kitchen remodel. It’s adjustable for tile work.

Worked better than I expected, used it to install lights in a metal carport and it worked well on the 2 1/2” square tubing.

I love this style of box as it great to be able to adjust the depth of the box if your wall thickness changes, and i used these for a pallet wall and it was great at dealing with depth that swung from 1/4 to 3/4".
