The Zip Box Blue 3-Gang 44 cu. in. Non-Metallic Switch and Outlet Box is designed for use with non-metallic sheathed cable in accordance with article 314 of the NEC. Great for residential and light commercial applications, the box is made with PVC, is listed for use with masonry walls and can be used with 90 degree C conductors. It meets NEMA OS-2 and is fire rated and UL listed for safety.

Q:How man 12/2 wires can this box hold

Answer This Question

A:  If you look in the inside of the box it tells you: 19 #12 wires but you have to know how to calculate box fill! Count each conductors in the box, all the grounds = 1, devices count as 2

        A:  No! Nails don't go through metal studs, wood only. Metal 4 square bracket box with a mud ring will go with metal studs.

          A:  Obviously, you won't be able to use the nails on the metal studs, but you can run sheet metal screws on the tab side (through the holes) to secure the box. You might also pull out the nails and substitute long number #8 sheet metal screws so as to mount the box.

            Q:What is the tab for on the opposite side of the side with the nails? It obviously can’t reach the next stud.

            A:  you should put some blocking in the stud space to attach that end otherwise it will not be very secure as attaching it with just the nails still ets it move around.

              A:  Gives you choice of one or other. I cut just enough of drywall to replace 2 gang box with 4 gang and enough of drywall to attach tab to drywall. Less patching.

                A:  Not 100% sure, but I am guessing another mounting option perhaps where there is not enough space on the stud cavity to swing a hammer.

                  A:  Since this is a new work box, the assumption is the stud cavity is accessible and an additional stud or framing brace can be installed. This helps in at least 2 ways: ensures the box stays at the right depth vs. the sheetrock face on the outer side and stabilizes the box against deflection, if, for example, a receptacle is installed in the outer position.

                    A:  The B344AB takes a standard 3 gang wall plate. Unfortunately we don’t make wall plates so I can’t give you specific dimensions.

                        Worked well for a reno where we added an exhaust fan/light to a master bathroom. Was easy to install. However, we had to use the side with screw holes to get it to sit flush with 1/2" sheetrock. No big deal - just had to remove the nails and flip the box around. Easy to wire

                        The product was fine. The way your shipping department packaged the products for shipping was sub-optimal, to say the least. Deal breaker. The manufacturer puts these products in a carton at the factory, there’s absolutely no reason to dump them in a different carton. Do , until you change your shipping protocol, no more orders.
