The Internatnional Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC vents, etc be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. HomeDepot.com sells LED Light Support Brackets to make your installation code compliant. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 to discuss the specific steps of installing the LED lights/brackets in a Stratford tile. We're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm PST.

The Stratford tile is Ceilume's best selling tile by far, in large part because of it's stability and simplicity. Tiles falling down is definitely not part of the program, regardless of how great they look. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654; we'd like to learn more about your installation to find out why your tiles are falling out.

Hi Matt, thanks for giving Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles a try. We're concerned that your contractor is installing LED lights without the proper support brackets. The International Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, and life safety devices are to be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above - ceiling tiles should never be used to support these items. Your local Home Depot store can provide the appropriate HALO LED light brackets to support the lights (give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 so we can share an installation tip for the support brackets)

While the Stratford tiles are "surprisingly thin" as our listing states, they're also amazingly strong. ASTM testing has shown the tiles to be an order of magnitude more durable than mineral fiber tiles. When you factor in their Class A fire rating, GreenGuard Gold certification for indoor air quality, and their restiance to moisture (which will prevent sagging) we think they're a bargain. We hope that in time their good looks and quality will win you over too.

Thanks for not sugar-coating your review of the Stratford. Like our ceiling tiles, we're tougher than we look and can handle harsh treatment. We understand that the Stratford tile is unlike standard mineral fiber tiles; the first thing we mention in our listing is "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong" ASTM testing has shown that these tiles are "an order of magnitude more durable that mineral fiber tiles" That strength has allowed the Stratford to be installed in over 5 million sq feet of beautiful drop ceilings in the last year alone. We're sorry to hear that they didn't work for your ceiling.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume. We're happy to hear that the installation went well. As you've discovered, the tiles will hold a static charge if placed on a carpet. If you wipe the tiles down with rubbing alcohol that will dissapate the static charge and prevent the tiles from attracting/holding hair and dust.
