Solves the storage problems of work-from-home office/bedrooms with a great-looking and sturdy addition to our closet. This is actually the 2nd closet we have equipped with these units, so we learned a lot on the first one. The first was white, but the walnut finish looks nicer. The 3 most important steps in installation are to plan exactly how you want to use the closet (hanging space vs shelves vs drawers), measure the closet interior accurately, then sketch a design on paper showing the EXACT dimensions of each vertical column unit, shelves and hanging bars. In our case the closet was mainly for office use, so lots of shelves (57” of the total 100 in. closet width) for plastic boxes and less for hanging space - although by installing a total of 5 hanging bars we managed to get almost 96 in. of hanging width. For a lot of people this also makes sense even for bedroom use, as foldable clothing has tended to increase relative to hanging. But your preferences may be different. We started with the Closetmaid Style+ kit that includes a 25” wide shelving column unit & 3 “top shelves” that are just 48” wide panels you can cut into shelf sections as needed for your layout. For our layout we added a Style+ “Narrow” shelving column unit (16.97” wide.) The units are well designed, with clear assembly instructions EXCEPT for two things: The uprights of the columns DO NOT have cut-outs at the bottom to accommodate baseboards on your walls. So, for the uprights to be flush to the wall you will need to cut appropriate-sized spaces in them before assembling the columns (see attached photos). It would have been nice if Closetmaid had at least warned you in the assembly instructions. AND, in “step 8”, where gussets are nailed on to keep the units square, they don’t explicitly mention, but it is advisable to use a large metal square to align before nailing. Once everything is installed it is too late to fix misaligned columns! A couple of other hints: if you are going to install 2 columns, as we did, and are considering adding (optional) drawers later, space the 2 columns by 15-9/16”. That way the drawers can be installed easily without moving the columns. You can cut 3 shelves this size from a 48” “top shelf”. And for cutting the shelves, wrap blue painter’s tape around the shelf where the cut will be made and use a high-speed fine-toothed cutting blade to avoid chipping the Melamine coating. We used a Skilsaw flooring saw, which worked well.

This CLOSETMAID MODERN WALNUT BASIC WOOD CLOSET SYSTEM KIT is perfect for my remodel. I was looking for something to install that would give me the options of shelving and hangers and this kit fit just fine. Very nice Walnut finish, I like the engineered wood construction of the shelves. The wood holds the screws tight without any problems in assembly. Another nice point with this is with the drawers, they have soft close slides for a nice close. The hardware packets were segregated in accordance with the different stages of assembly. Instructions were good, I would recommend reading them completely before attempting assembly. It took me 3 to 4 hours to fully assemble and install this kit.

The stackable cabinets are easy to assemble requiring just a Philips screwdriver and hammer, but it does take a bit of time so allow yourself around an hour. Consider having help to stack them once assembled. There were no spare parts left over. The cabinets feel pretty sturdy once the back bracers/gullets are nailed on but, despite having checked my work with a level, one of them leaned a bit and I had to un/reinstall the gullets. I'm not enthusiastic about the finish. The laminate is not great quality and the edges look frayed. The poles also feel fairly solid but are painted and already had minor marks in the finish, so I'm not sure what they will look like over time. You definitely do not want to use metal or wire hangers on them. I originally got this to be used in a well lit master walk-in closet but, although this is designed well for closet organization, after seeing the assembled product, I've decided it's better suited for the new double-door closet being built in the basement. The shelves will make up for the lack of a dresser due to space constraints.

Very nice Melamine finish, we like the top quality Melamine. It is made of Pressed wood – but very high quality pressed wood. The wood holds the screws well and we did not have any problems with customization or assembly. Pressed wood usually sags over time, so it will be interesting to see if we have droopy shelves in 10 years. We believe this is the best quality pressed wood that we have worked with. We praise to the manufacturer for making a high quality pressed wood product. However we still prefer plywood (or real wood) on the long horizontal shelves, especially if you have very heavy items on the shelves. The tradeoff is between cost, quality, and convenance; when you compare pressed wood, to plywood, to pine wood. This product fills a niche. If you do not want to paint or finish plywood or (pine wood) this is an excellent solution. It is a quick solution to finish a closet or storage space, WITH NO PAINTING. As you can see the final install had some customization. There is enough hardware included to make creative changes. VERY NICE to include extra screws and angle braces. Our only criticism with the product is that the plastic and pressed wood has very sharp corners. We had minor cuts on two fingers and one wrist during the installation process. Nothing that a band aid could not fix; but bleeding was not convenient to deal with. Working with ordinary wood and plywood does not USUALLY present this problem. We also sanded the exposed corners to eliminate the sharpness. Now the closet storage is safe for toddlers and adults alike.

We wanted to update our daughters closet shelves so we got the ClosetMaid Style+ 73.1 in W - 121.1 in W White Basic Wood Closet System Kit. The closet isn't actually 73 inches wide though so we only used the shelves and half the hanging rods on a single wall. The system is very easy to assemble and install. The shelving is press wood with pre drilled holes. It comes with adjustable feet so you can level it. The hanging rods are telescoping and can be cut if needed. I'm not so sure about the hanging rod hardware though as the mounts are plastic but they do seem sturdy. Only time will tell. I wish that the shelves had a solid back though because until they're screwed to the wall they are not very stable. Overall we're pleased with the outcome and will probably do the other closets also.

Measure your closet and know where the studs are before purchasing! I recently moved in to a new home and I have 7 closets that need closet systems/organizers installed. I chose the Closetmaid Style + closet kit for one of the Master bedroom closets because I wanted to match a Closetmaid Premium kit that I previously ordered from Home Depot. First, the quality of the Closetmaid Style + is much better than the Closetmaid Shelftrack products, they are a little more expensive but overall all the materials are much better, the laminate wood used on the shelves has the same espresso finish but the shelves are thicker and better quality and the rods are heavier but you should definitely know the measurements of your closet before starting your install. This system is made for closets 5-10 feet in length which my closet is but unfortunately I wasn’t aware that you also had to know where the studs were on the side walls. Apparently the rods have to be attached to the studs on the sides of the closet and the ones in my closet were 6 inches from the corner stud and then at 21 inches from the corner so I had nothing to attach the rod to. I went to Home Depot to see if I could purchase side panels but the HD employee said that they were not available for that system ( even though they show them on the box). He said you could buy a board and attach that to the studs and then attach the rods but that seemed like a lot of extra work because the boards would have to be painted as well.. The other issue with this system is the shelves are not part of the system; to attach the available shelves you have to purchase brackets that are installed on the sides and back of the wall ( see picture). I decided this was all a bit too complicated and thought I would try this system in another closet where the studs might be in the right location. One lesson I learned from this is you should make sure you not only measure your closet but you should know exactly where your studs are on the side walls if you choose a system where the rods are attached to the studs. Regardless of the failed installation, the quality of the Closetmaid Style+ is very good and the shelves are sturdy and a nice finish.

This closet system is a very sturdy, very attractive system. I chose to use it against a wall and not inside my closet to give myself more space for clothes and storage. It was very simple instructions and easy to assemble. It came in two shipments with the closet kit and then the top shelves unit coming separately. You can order different parts for it to add on if you like. The walnut is of very good quality and it looks great and gives me more options for storage. I did have to purchase separate screws and anchors for two of the bars because those small parts were missing from the kit but it wasn't a big deal. I would highly recommend this product.

I have used wire-style ClosetMaid products in various homes I have owned. This is the first time I tried a particleboard product. The ClosetMaid Style+ 73.1 in Wide to 121.1 in Wide White Basic Wood Closet System Kit worked out very nicely for my walk-in closet. Assembly was a bit involved using they typical ready-to-assemble cam-lock hardware. Hardware packets were segregated to the different stages of assembly and were exact in the count. Instructions were pretty good and I would recommend reading through them completely before attempting assembly. I would guess it took me 3 to 4 hours to fully assemble and install. NOTE: This product is very heavy and having an extra set of hands will be, well, handy during the assembly.

We are using this closet system in our main entry front closet. We have used many Closet Maid kits and have always been very satisfied with the system. There are so many features which can be customized. I love the white wood systems and the various ways we can design the closet to meet our personal needs. If I want just longer coats on one side, I am able to do that. If I want my shelves farther spaced, I am able to do that too. I can design where I want the shelving system and have made changes with the kits. The directions are easy to follow and the installation goes quickly once the closet is painted and the design is firm in our mind. I love this kit and how the finished product is installed. This kit came with three top shelves which work perfectly for this closet, giving me extra storage space at the top of the closet. Just wonderful.

I am really not a fan of this one. Once assembled it works fine. The tower is sturdy once secured to the wall. The rods are sturdy too. It looks okay but not very impressive. It is completely particle board. For it's price point I should have expected that. There wasn't a lot of hardware and it was pretty easy to figure out what to use where. They do provide leveling feet. They easily screw in and out to suit your closet's floor. Be very careful during assembly. While assembling the upper and lower parts of the tower it is very easy to cause damage. Get the cardboard triangles attached as soon as you can. That adds stability. Be careful righting it and get it anchored to the wall gently but quickly. Lot's of chances to break it. The rod brackets are just plastic. Use care in putting the rod's hole over the tab on the bracket. It needs to be on it or it will likely fall. It's very easy to break that tab. Overall I'm really disappointed in this closet system. It's an upgrade from the rubber coated wire shelves but it's nothing special.

It was easy to assemble and looks excellent for the price. No issues.

Installation was a breeze. I will be sure to add an additional shelf or two to the side which is supposedly designed for long dresses. It is nice to be able to do this with the addition of similar shelving. I do wish shoe storage was configured into the design, but this too can be added. All in all a great purchase for our newly renovated home.

The closet product is good and easy to install. The Home Depot special Ofer process has been an adventure the three times I have used it. Store has difficulty finding order once it arrives or some of the order is lost. They eventually made it right and provided discount.

I have checked and rechecked all of the parts and hardware. The box is MISSING 6 of the 10 SCREWS!!!! Project is at a standstill.

Very basic, nothing fancy. Pressed partical board. Set aside an entire day to assemble. Easy to follow instructions however, and though it felt flimsy at first, it all came together and became solid

Straight forward assembly. Decent quality for the price. Definitely would buy again.

This was easy to install and looks great, very functional.
