I wanted to add some shelving to my boring builder grade closet in my guest room. The ClosetMaid closet system seemed like a nice option. As a DYI project it was more doable than I thought. The instructions were clear and the task was easy enough to complete. I just needed a second hand to carry the items to the room. The Noir modern style was a definite upgrade from the original builder. It claims to be scratch proof, but that was not the case for my unit. The corner was also easy to chip. Overall the unit helped my disaster closet become more organized.

I selected this ClosetMaid Style+ Noir Modern Style Basic Plus Wood Closet System to finally fix the closet in my master bedroom. The master bedroom is an addition to the house which I made into the master. The closet is a long open space with just a rod. It's pretty rough and needed a remodel. This kit comes in seven boxes but the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The boards are manufactured but they look very nice. This definitely updated my closet and made better use of the space.

This ClosetMaid system offers the perfect solution for anyone that wants to upgrade their closet. They are stylish, efficient and customizable and truly transforms the way you keep yourself organization. Our closet was essentially a big cube of wasted space. Now, it actually holds a ton of stuff and looks great. The unit is big and quite heavy, so keep that in mind once you get the delivery. It will also be difficult to install on your own. A second set of hands was essential, particularly for the long pieces that are higher up. Assembly overall is not very easy - again, a second set of hands is essential. There are a lot of parts and does take time. The end result is very much worth it, however!

Read the instructions before buying to ensure it is the proper unit for your closet design. For example, it sits on the floor so the baseboard and shoe molding prevent it from being against the wall. Also, it has no back to prevent items from hitting the wall or falling into the crack between the unit and the wall. The wall is the back of the unit. On the assembly, none of the panels are coded, i.e., A, B. etc., so it is unclear what panel is what. For example, there is one point where the instructions say to use two side panels, implying any two will work when they are not identical. Two are made to orient one way and two are made the other way, left and right sides. They do not mention that you will need a "square" to ensure the unit is square before you install the corner gussets. The gussets have a finished side and unfinished side, but the instructions neither have them color-coded (gray = unfinished) nor do they mention which way that they need to be installed. Also, the side panels have two extra, unused, rotating lock holes...do not install the rotating locks in all holes as all holes are not used. We bought drawer and door kits to add to the unit. On the door kit, there is a nailed-in door stop for the top of the doors that is near impossible to locate correctly as the door needs to be closed to locate it; it nails in so one can't nail it over and over...I plan to use an aftermarket door stop, if need. Usually, they screw mount with adjustment slots. Also, the doors' hinge mount screw holes were about 1 mm off, just enough that the screws had to be removed and angled in...all four hinge mounts. The hanger rod brackets are plastic, although they may be nylon. Not a sturdy metal bracket. All in all, it is a mid-level closet unit, and looks nice. It is just not the quality I expected from ClosetMaid.

This product I was able to compare to a much higher end unit I already own. Actual installation didn't take place at this writing due to project delays and review constraint s. That said I can vouch for this product based on its manufacture and materials quality. First impression of the melamine they use is it's thicker and harder than usual. I found it to be highly scratch resistant. The consistency of the panels and finishes were very high. The hardware is of very good quality and the test assembly was easily done. This is no more difficult to assemble than most other build it yourself kits. All in all compared to my 1100 dollar organizer this is very affordable and almost as good. Biggest difference was the expensive unit used extruded aluminum main frame . This one is all wood composite. , Good instructions. This unit was sent as 1 tower, 3 top shelves, and 3 drawers.

This is a pretty nice closet storage and shelving unit. I was expecting this to be made of particle board but it is made better by using wafer board a lot stronger and more durable. The really nice thing about this being made with better quality material you can cut and reorder this unit to fit your specific closet or area even better. Another really nice thing with this is the drawers have soft close slides to have a better feature.

Looks good. I was missing some of the wall anchors but I pulled an extra from another set I bought and have 3 on it. I did mess up by not counting the large hole for the 8 holes on the fixed shelf (I didn’t look at the diagram, or maybe I mixed the instructions set with a different assembly instructions set for another similar module) I would need to tear it all down off the wall and take it apart to fix it, but I won’t and instead moved the drawer to the middle opening and the cabinets I added hide the weird gap. My mistake worked out better for me as I needed the two compartments at the bottom the height they are. It’s melamine coated particleboard so it chips easily during assembly. One of these plus cabinets plus two narrow towers and 4 narrow drawers cost about $2k for a walk in closet. Extras to consider when re doing a closet: A mirror, spackle, texture spray and paint (had to patch, sand and texture a lot of stuff after demo of the old closet).

Excellent closet system! Directions were clear and had all of the necessary parts. I'm so happy with the way it turned out!!

Strongly suggest not using clothing rack poles provided and cut solid pieces. The ones provided are adjustable and bend.

Always looks & functions awesome, used several times, but you do need a good DYI person with the proper tools & knowledge.
