Not very happy that after I cut the plywood, the layers started separating. At $90 a sheet for C3 grade this should be great. I was in a pinch but from now on I will buy from my plywood supplier.

From an over 20 yrs experienced carpenter
If you wish to use water-based paint on this type of plywood then your work will look very cheap and bad, if you use oil based it is OK, make sure you use Catalyzed Paint with Lacquer, and the finish will be smooth and amazing!

Worst wood product I have ever used
I purchased this product to fabricate a large shelving unit for a client. As soon as I sprayed the first coat of primer, random bubbles appeared in the outer veneer. The remedy, required extensive repair to all of these areas in my fabricated units. I had found and repaired 32 holes ranging from 1/2 inch in diameter up to a 7 inch long gash. These holes appeared in approximately 3 sheets of actual material used. I spent as much time repairing the defective wood as I did in fabrication.

        Perfect Plywood for quality furniture
I use maple often to build furniture. I gave it 4 stars because sometimes I'll get a sheet cut and home and the laminate is coming apart. Definitely check over the sheet a few before you leave. Other than that, its perffect for all your DIY projects!!!

          Absolutely junk
Normally I don't bother buying any lumber from box stores, but it was close to home and starting to rain. I did get it inside still dry, but the second I began to spray latex primer on it it started to delaminate. I had it inside my shop at least two weeks before even thinking about spraying, but this sealed the deal with me. You won't sell another junk piece of lumber to me at any price. Now I have a few thousand dollars worth of cabinetry I have to explain away to my customer. How about you calling them to explain why it's such trash and it was my fault for buying from you in the first place?

I read all of the comments on this product before I purchased it. I used it for the top or work surface for a "built in" Home Office. I wanted Maple to match the base cabinets that I installed. I had Home Depot cut each piece in two, to my dimensions. Examining the cut, I found no voids in either of the four pieces. I made other cuts for final fit and small patches and again I did not find any voids of any concern. The pieces I purchased definitely had one "finished" side that was smoother than the other. The top veneer appears to be very thin, so use care.

Furious with myself for not listening to bad reviews....Absolutely Horrible
I'm so upset with myself for not heeding the warnings from other reviewers. I thought to myself "They probably got a bad batch. I doubt I'll have the same misfortune." WRONG. I just finished this midcentury piece that was painted with an "eggshell" finish. The voids under the veneer are obvious and the surface isn't smooth. There are round "bubbles" all across the surface. I can feel where the veneer is already delaminating is areas. What a complete waste. I'm going to have to have a piece of custom tempered glass cut and made to fit this top and try and salvage this piece. The glass is going to cost me 3x what the plywood did. it's not the $55 lost on the plywood that hurts. It's the hours and hours into this project that are wasted. Don't waste your money and especially your time on a poor quality product. Buy a higher quality plywood like Baltic Birch or find another plywood supplier.

Writing this review in hopes that Columbia is reading.... I am a full time woodworker for 25 yrs. There's a continuing problem with the 1/2" and 3/4" plywood I've seen for the last year, Delamination in either face veneer or substrate, or both. See attached picture, this veneer peeled off at will, once again the glue isn't sticking as it should. Figured you guys would have picked up on this catastrophic issue by now, And I'm ready to give up on this product as I have a lot of woodwork out there that I am starting to worry could peel. My question to you is how long do you think it will take to you guys resolve this laminating problem? How can I trust this plywood for future projects? At any price, let alone $52 a sheet, there should never be an issue with laminating,it's the basic process for the product. It's not just a $52 sheet of plywood that peels, it's a 20k library that peels. Please fix this so I don't have to fix the library

Bought three sheets to build painted cabinets for our laundry room. All looked good on the face that showed. When I got it home I found that the back side was horrible. I didn't expect blemish free but this had many, many filled knot holes. Worse, the filling was not flush. And some of the "putty" was soft. I could rub it out of a hole with my finger. My other gripe is that the ends are not cut square. All three sheets were off worse than any plywood I've ever used. Makes it very hard to use when you don't have a square corner to reference from. I'll second other reviewers who commented on the poor cut quality on the edges. All and all very disappointing. I definitely won't buy again.

I built a bookcase for a friend and used this plywood for the carcasses. As long as you're going to paint and face frame trim or iron on edge strips, this plywood will work adequately. It's not high end maple but it was fine for my needs and the bookcases came out well. It was five ply.

If you are making anything other than workshop stuff, do not buy. This plywood is real bad. This stuff is not high quality. Once I got it home and started cutting it up and assembling the pieces I started to notice voids and bulges in the plys. The tearout is ridiculous. I've had to insert new wood into the edges in some areas just to fill voids. I am using this to make a workbench so it was not a total loss. For anything else, stay away.

                    Very nice plywood
While I work with many materials, plywood is especially satisfying because it is both strong, easy to work with and takes on a good finish. Because it uses a soy based glue, I don't have to worry about formaldehyde out-gassing. This plywood has 5 plies, not counting the veneer on both sides. The surfaces were free of blemishes and the edges only showed a single small void. Some plywood sheets one quarter the size have several voids showing. Running a straight edge across the sheet showed it was very smooth and the only curvature I saw was due to flexing under its own weight- and for a 3/4 inch thick piece the flex is very small.

Very nice plywood for home projects
This is a very nice plywood for home cabinet and shelving projects. It is important for buyers to read the grading chart to make sure the appearance of the face veneers meets their needs. I have used this plywood in several projects that, when finished, were (a) sealed with a clear sealer, (b) were stained and then sealed, and (c) were painted. This plywood is affordable which makes it perfect for home type projects. It is good for projects where one or both sides of the plywood will show like in shelves, cabinet doors, etc. even though the face of the plywood has a nicer appearance than the back. A big advantage to this plywood is the fact that it will not out-gas harmful fumes because it is formaldehyde free. Do It Yourselfers using high grade plywood for the first time need to research the best way to cut plywood to achieve the smoothest chip free cuts. It's a simple process if a few simple rules are followed.

Good product at a good price
This is my fifth time to use Purebond plywood on a project, and I am once again very happy with the product. I have no issues of voids or veneer lifting at all. This maple will be the instrument panel for a boat console I'm building. The veneer is super smooth, requiring no sanding prior to staining and finishing, and very little grain was raised during the staining and finishing. This product cuts easily with a 140 tooth blade in a circular saw. Overall in my experience this is a quality product at a reasonable price.

Shipped cross country, corner was split, see picture
I live in Northern California, this was shipped from Georgia. It had 1/2" material on each side and it was banded with blocks to make it fork lift transportable, but the corner of the Maple Plywood's layers had separated by the time it reached my home. In this case, it was not an issue as I was not going to be using the whole sheet, nor was I making furniture. I only used 3'x5' section of this ply to remake a top for a work bench I recently downsided too. Overall, the top and bottom had no blemishes in the surface and it was a really smooth surface on both sides. I don't know if I would order it again knowing that it shipped across the country, better off just picking it up at your local store.

Great Plywood, not the best veneer
I'd prefer this to be an in-store item so I could select the sheet. I would not have selected this one. Knots present on both faces and presence of spalting on both faces. I don't mind these inclusions when using solid species, but when I use sheet goods I strive for uniformity. The sheet was well packaged and delivered. It was in perfect condition. The plywood itself is great. Thick venners, no plugs, and no voids that I have come across. Overall I would recommend this, but if a uniform appearance is important, it's best to pick it out in-store.

SEMI NICE GRAIN PATTERN BUT NOT AS EXPECTED
The lighter weight, all-wood veneer construction of this maple plywood is ideal for woodworkers, hobbyists, etc. who prefer an all natural wood plywood over composite panel products like particleboard and MDF.This plywood sheet has a hardwood face veneer on both sides but neither side it suitable for finish work like cabinets, bookcase, etc. One side of this 4' X 8' sheet has minor imperfections in the maple grain but still nice for projects that only one side of plywood is visible. The other side is a low grade that has major imperfections including areas that look like some kind of wood putty was used to fill in holes left in manufacturing process. I was planning on making a display case but do not think it will look any good once stained with imperfections. I am sure I will find some use sooner or later.

This is really a sad case. The veneers are great. There are literally no voids. It was exactly what I needed. 5 hours into this project the laminate separated. Apparently there was no glue in a large portion of the sheet. I have flushed $50 and 5 hours of labor. I have photos of the separation and the SKU.
