I might have tried a dozen brands and this is the most difficult one to install. If you can find any other brand, don't buy this one. No instructions, no youtube video that I can find, four different ways to insert the pieces and only one way will work. Here's a tip; put the jack into the bezel before you put the bezel into the box. Also, both parts say "up" on one side. This is what it looks like assembled.

Poor box design -- look elsewhere for better
Avoid these if at all possible. These utilize an insert to mount the keystone jacks, and the insert falls out very easily as well as being annoying to orient properly. Worse, they mount the companion keystone jacks upside down, meaning you have to punch the jacks down before you can mount them in the box, mount the box and then put the completed assembly in and close it up.

Be careful of the cable size used
I have used these from time to time in the past. They work OK for Cat5e cabling but anything that is Cat6 or shielded, etc. will have issues. They do not fit together very well. The screws provided are very cheap and I have had the heads twist off many times, even when pre-drilling into hard wood. I will use them in a pinch but they are not my "go to" product for surface mount keystone boxes.

Worst surgace mount boxes but cheap
These suck conpared to every other surface mount box ive used. They have a decent sticky pad but the clips that are used to keep the tops from coming off barely work and the box has been overdesigned to the point its just a hassle. They are however usually the cheapest and most common to find. Avoid if possible but expect to see a ton of these.

        decent product
I had to pick up a couple of these for a quick demarc extension job. personally I prefer the leviton or sully products as they seem to be a bit better quality but these will definitely get you by a pinch

This was easy to use and the jacks fit well and secure. Simple and effective product. The double stick tape that was enclosed came in useful to mount with no issues.

It's a blank, so if you're using these then chances are you are already familiar with using keystone jacks, but the design is poorly suited for the professional installer. The blue caps are cosmetic and easily pop off, but it would just be better if the top of the box was smooth for attaching labels. The design requires the keystone jacks to be inserted precisely into the removable slides, which seems like a completely unnecessary step. A better design would simply allow the jacks to snap naturally in place. Unless you're using punch-less keystone jacks, this type of blank surface box is nearly senseless, but if you're a professional, it will do in a pinch when nothing else is available.

          Will not close
These will not close. I even tried multiple clamps. Left it on there for 30 minutes. As soon as I removed the clamps, it pops open. I ended up getting Cable Matters brand from somewhere else. I don't recommend these at all.

No Instructions. Watch the Video In Detail
Must reinstall the slider keystone face plate inside out. And install your keystone upside down. Completely frustrating and wasted hour of work Watch the video carefully in product description, watch for the orientation of that slider piece and keystone.

This is by far the cheapest surface box I've ever used. The housing doesn't even close properly because the keystones sit above flush. Typical home depot junk, should have known better but was in a pinch. Also, the little blue ID tab things pop out because they contact the keystones. BUY SOMETHING ELSE.

Pay attention to the rectangular inserts when you take the cover off. There will be a small recess in the top part of the rectangle, which faces toward the hole. Pull out the rectangular insert, snap the port into it, and slide the insert back into the base after you attach the base to the wall (screws and double sided tape are included - use one or both). Snap the port into the rectangular insert so that the RJ45 jack release tab is accessible from the top (which makes sense, since if you put it in so that it is against the wall, you can't get a finger in there to release the cable). Simple, but things don't fit if you try it backward or upside down, so pay attention when you first take off the cover.

This box is a great way to finish off the Home Depot Cat6 and RJ-25 jacks! Only problem is, the instructions are awful!! And the package doesn't come with instructions at all! If you try to snap the jacks into the openings, they fit fine, but the cover won't close! (They are upside down!) If you turn them over, they won't snap in! You have to pull out the two rectangular inserts, then snap the jacks into the inserts with the tabs oriented towards the top. Then slide the inserts back into the base. Then the cover snaps on. There's a video here that explains it, but I wasted a lot of time trying to get the cover to fit until I searched online and found the video! Save yourself a lot of time and frustration, and watch the video first!

This plastic mounting box is just what I needed to hide the connections between LAN cables. The keystone inserts for CAT 5E and 6 cables fit into the front of this and make for a neat installation. Even though the instructions say it is can be used for floor installations, It is too lightweight to be stepped on or bumped because it would simply be broken. Wall mount out of the way should be fine.
