They cut like any other pair of cutters. The mechanics make them so they are harder to open however. Rather have a smooth opening pair of cutters then these.

Easy on my hands. Sharp for cutting wire. Perfect fence tool.

This is my new favorite cutting and snipping tool. It really has a lot of strength or leverage for cutting a heavy wire or cable.

They work great, except should have an incorporated spring to open them again after cutting. But easier cutting works great w/ arthritis!

Cut great and seem to be very durable. Only issue I have is they become difficult to open after working with them for a period of time. Hopefully they will loosen up a bit after some more use.

I really enjoy using this new design cutting pliers. The packaging says "40% less effort to cut" and I would say the effort is at least that good compared to traditional wire cutters. I used this tool to cut Romex wire, coax cable, and nylon wire tires with ease. Sharp, easy cuts every time. Interestingly, I needed more effort to open the package than I needed to use the tool. I definitely recommend this tool.

Well along with my Crescent lineman pliers; this product complements my tool pouches as well. Snips through wire with ease with its "pivot-action" and cuts/snips cleanly. This product has the feel and comfort of a quality balanced tool. Made with forged steel with non-slip handle grips that are securely fasten to handle. Nice color as well... This is a welcome tool to my working collection of quality tools.

stiff to open. did not seem to do the job well. I wish I could return it. When you spread the handles to cut the handles are so far spread that you can not use leverage to cur or twist as you need huge hands. Really disappointed. I chose this over another product because it looked beefy, but it cheesy. How do I get my money back???/

This tool looks well made, made of heavy steel and ground to a smooth finish. The red handles with black inserts are strong but give a cushioned grip when squeezing hard on them. The pivoting action gives the Diagonal Pliers its extra strength to cut larger wires, the package says 40% less effort to cut. I tried cutting 12 gauge and 10 gauge electrical wires and found it works extremely well. You can feel it cutting with much less effort than a standard electrical pliers with a cutting edge. Even cutting 12/3 non-metallic electric cable was quite easy. I will be using this diagonal cutter all the time now.

This is one of my favorite tools. Much of my work is on aerial telephone lines which occasionally includes some 14 to 10 gauge copper clad steel wire. The two most important things I look for in any tool are how well it works and quality. I really like these diagonals for those two reasons. The amount of force required to cut a piece of heavy gauge wire I'm guessing is about 30 to 50% less than with traditional diagonals since they are designed to add leverage. If I had to say anything negative about them, I'd say they are a bit stiff when new and need some time and oil to free up.

These "compound joint" pliers would fit the bill nicely for the average homeowner or user. The pliers do indeed provide an additional amount of leverage when cutting. Fairly soft plastic handles also help in this respect allowing the infrequent user to better grasp the tool. Semi-pro, or advanced users & tradespeople will probably not consider these pliers once they see them in person. They are not typical of Crescent brand quality in finish (black oxide and a lacquer clear coat) and the grips are way too soft for frequent use. The cutting jaws appeared to have been angle ground but the finish was very rough (obvious grind marks in the cutting area). Maybe my pair was made by a fellow overseas having a bad day. These pliers are just OK. The quality of the cutting jaw sharpening negatively affected the pliers performance. Pliers of this design should cut through copper and mild steel wire like hot butter, but this was not the case. The design of cutter head and the joint arrangement made cutting capacity limited (very hard to cut more than 2 12/2 Romex cables at a time). I am still trying to break in my pair as the joints are still stiff. I consider tools an investment so my opinion in this area will be tougher than most but I work my tools harder than most as well. There are many brands of diagonal pliers out there. If you rely on your tools for everyday use you have probably learned that quality tends to equate to longevity, durability, balance and ease of use. The reason I like these 8" pliers is that they are small enough to easily carry in my pouch, small enough to cut a piece of 18/8 stat wire or large enough to cut a piece of 10/2 wire w/ground. The Pivot creates leverage which allows less pressure to make a cut. In a unscientific test using 10/2 w/ground romex I first made 10 cuts with a pair of standard diagonal pliers I had, then 10 cuts with the pivot pliers. I waited about 15 minutes then made 10 cuts with pivot pliers first then the standard pliers. At least on #10 wire there was a difference in the amount of strength it took to make each cut. So the standard pair go in the back up pouch and the pivot pair have a new home. The grips are good and non slip. When you first get these take some oil and apply to them and work them back and forth until you can easily open them with one hand. Innovation wins again.

The Crescent Linesman Pivot Pro Pliers are made with good quality. They are ergonomically designed and you can tell they are the first time you have them in your hand. The material used in making this plier is good quality and the tool itself should last a long time. The pliers at first had resistance when opening and closing but after some use, they work perfectly. I contribute this to the close tolerances in making this tool.

The first time I used these linesman pliers I was sold. Has a great feel to them while performing tasks like twisting wire. Cuts through with the cutting edge like a hot knife through butter. Unlike my old one this one has a longer handle and comfortable grip and the grip handles do not slide off under heavy pulling stress. The handle is very comfortable to work with...

Just tested this pliers, din't use it for electrical work, cut some 4d nails like butter, 6d nails with no effort at all and the cutter showed no signs of wear. very happy with the purchase.

Pivot action makes them very easy to cut and use. Would recommend for lighter use. However after about a month of rigorous everyday use (tying rebar cages and cutting 9 wire) the grips slid off and the pivoting joint locked up. Disappointed because I really liked the product before they locked up.

I bought these pliers for general use, but my immediate need was to cut 16d nails from lumber going to the scrap heap. They did the job and were easy on the hands.

Versatile tool. Cuts, strips, crimps, grabs. Excellent quality. Well worth the price.

It works easily. cuts right through 14 gauge hard .wire without hand stress.

It's immediately noticeable how much less force you have to use to cut with these. My only complaint, and it has yet to effect the functionality, is that the sliding pivot point either wears away from the sliding or gets crushed from the cutting action. When the blade wears out I will get another set.

I already owned another big name brand linesman pliers and bought the Crescent Pivot Pro Linesman Pliers last week. you can't go wrong with this pivot action pliers. My ordinary Channel Lock cutting and linesman pliers are great. awesome, but they got less cutting and gripping power compare to this one. The pivot action means more leverage, gives you more gripping and cutting power. even this pliers is not made in the USA, it is well made, smooth and powerful. Go get one if you need a pliers. you will not disappointed.

This design multiplies the force of the jaws which is great for all day use.

Not sure how it will stand up over time but don't see anything to be concerned about yet. Only con is that it's heavier than the standard side cutters.
