Tap snapped after 3 holes, I’m not new to this. Would not recommend for anything above light to medium duty use

This set had exactly the size I required and was all I needed to finish the project I have been working on. The tap made it about 3/4 turn before snapping in half. Very disappointed, will be returning.

Quality is poor. Upon first use re-drilling and tapping a brass low voltage floor box, both the drill bit and 6-32 tap snapped. The drill bit I can understand since its being turned at high speed by a drill, but tapping a clean hole in fairly soft brass should not have sheared the tap off (turning by hand only). This combined with the lack of case makes this a questionable buy.

Not durable product. The grains of the metal clearly show cheap casting. the tap is quite sharp on the case but the guts are not strong. definitely not a tool steel. I was able to tap 3 holes in 30 HRC P20 annealed mold steel and the third attempt snapped after 3/4 depth. The handle is crap. the tap bends after the first hole. a good tap set should last a lifetime. This is chinesium crap. Only homo despot would sell you crap like this. Do yourself a favor and pass on this overpriced disappointment. Thanks for selling cheap crap Mr. Despot.

bought this because of the dewalt name and was disappointed with the quality of it. broke the first time i used it.

Every now and again, I find that I have the right diameter screws, but that they are too long. Now, instead of going to the hardware store I'm able to shorten them with my angle grinder and then clean up the threads with this tap and die set. I'd give this 5 stars if it came with a case. Once I opened the bubble pack, I was left with a lot of loose parts and no way to keep them organized. so I bought a small craft box and cut a notch in it to accommodate the tap holder, as shown in the attached picture.

I am very happy with this purchase... it worked like a charm! Some other reviews stated the smaller taps didn't fit in the provided handle. I didn't have that issue. The #8 (second smallest) tap fit perfectly and did the job. This set looks and feels like the quality I would expect from Dewalt. Several people are complaining about this product not coming with a case, which I agree would be nice... but I knew that when I bought it. I cut the plastic packaging in half and I am using that to store the tools in my chest. See pics.

The tap handle is too large. Will not lock on the small 6-32 tap.

Bought this and 3/16" thick angle iron (Everbilt 1-1/2 in. x 48 in. Plain Steel Angle with 3/16 in. Thick, Internet # 204225744 Model # 801687 Store SKU # 477674) From this tap/die set, the drill bit corresponding to the #6-32 tap worked smooth, got a nice clean pilot hole in the steel. Tap broke about 3/4 of a turn into the pilot hole. Not sure if the larger taps work better, not going to test, going to return this set ASAP! My DeWalt power tools are still very reliable. but this tap is crap

I bought this to install some hinges into a railing. Managed to get the first hole threaded, but was concerned that the threads on the die were stripping off. After about two turns on the second hole, the bit snapped. Tried to remove it with a vise grip, and it snapped flush. Time to return it, and figure out how to get the broken bit out of the hole.

The chuck of the die holder would not tighten small enough to hold the smaller pieces in the set. Was very disappointed with this product

Easy to handle, sizing perfect, does what it is to do, not much storage space needed.

Too expensive. Should come with a storage case

Found it expensive for what’s included, but I was able to complete the job. Recommended!

The tap handle is too large to use with the 6-32 tap. Did not notice until I got home and opened the package.
