A simple, down to earth Digital timer. Works just fine with Low wattage Ceiling Fans for bathroom.
I purchased this for controlling my bathrooms ceiling fan as i'd often forget to turn it off and as they get quite noisy it got quite annoying quite fast.
Installation was straightforward. At the end I had to cram a lot of the wires into the deep box and make it work. Timer has worked for a year so far as is quite sturdy. Will buy again. The indicator led only blinks once when you start the timer and again as it ends which for some is a negative. I don't mind as it saves further energy.

Nice Little Switch
I installed this In-wall Timer on the ventilation fan in our upstairs laundry room. We were surprised to find a ventilation fan in the laundry when we built our home and honestly we rarely used it. I turned it on last summer and realized that it significantly decreased the temperature in the room which is a big help in keeping our South Texas home cool in the summer. Installing took 10 minutes tops and this timer works perfectly. To make things even better, I found this for half price at my local HD.

I love this switch/timer
My wife was always complaining when I forgot to turn the lights off in the garage or on my work bench after finishing for the day/evening. I installed timers with a max limit of 1 hour, which turned out to be annoying, as I would be in the middle of a project and the lights would go out. After a little research, I found this timer with a 4 hour limit. I purchased 2 of them, one for the garage light and one for my work bench. Installation is pretty straight forward, and they both work like a charm. My wife is happy (happy wife, happy life!) and I am happy not to have to stop what I'm doing to turn the lights back on every hour. As noted in a previous review, you need to give the timer a minute or so to reset before it will work properly.

Great features and design
I'm using the timer to power a fan. While the timer may have adequate current to power it, I connected a relay to the timer which in turn switches a on seperate power source to the fan. I like that after the time expires only the large button needs to be pressed to start the timer again from it's last setting. The relay fits easily under the timer itself in a standard electrical housing. I previously had a circuit I built myself, (with a 555 timer i.c) but that required a 12v power source. It didn't have the easily selectable time durations that this unit has.

Every bathroom should have one of these timers!
This timer is perfect for a shower fan! We just set the timer according to the humidity created and let it run those extra 15 to 30 minutes needed.

Did not work!
I hooked-up the timer as directed. It did not work. I purchased 3 of these. Non of them worked. I returned them and bought the ones needing the white natural wire and they worked with no problem.

Works great for my bathroom fan
It was a challenge to get it wired inline with a GFCI, but once I figured it out, it has been great. I wish it had a way to change the times since I will never need 4 hours of bathroom fan.

Excellent product at a great price.
This bathroom fan timer is just what I was looking for, and the price was much less than I expected to pay. It was easy to install; just be sure you shut off the circuit breaker for the switch before installing.

Great product at an amazingly low price
I purchased four of these timer switches on sale (~$10) at Home Depot. Installation was easy and fast. I use the switches to time fans in bathrooms. Operation is simple - press one button to select desired time to run fan. The only minor negative is that the LED corresponding to the selected time does not remain lit while fan is running. Nonetheless, this timer switch is a great bargain.

Great all around timer.
I use this timer in almost all of my installations that require a timer. I like the time increments and I have never had a problem with the ones that I have put in.

timer
The timer is very simple to install and the diagram that shows how to do it is perfect even for a person who does not know much about electricity.I think that $20 dollars is a good price but it can go down until $15 dollars and still it is a great value!!

Didn't work despite repeated attempts
I bought this as a replacement for our old twist-style bathroom fan timer. Installation was relatively straightforward, although the size (depth) was an issue -- I had to spend a lot of time futzing around with the wires in the junction box to make it fit, and then only barely. Also it uses twist-on connectors rather than screw-in terminals -- the latter are usually easier to deal with and don't require as much space in the box. The real problem was that once the unit was installed and the breaker was switched back on, the exhaust fan would run but the timer switch never showed any signs of life so I could turn it off, or control it in any way. I read other reviews related to this issue and left it on for a good hour waiting for it to work, and it never did. I also re-wired it thinking maybe I had a reversed neutral and hot wire, but that didn't do any good either. I took it back to HD and went to Lowe's to pick up the Lutron Maestro, which is a much better design -- it took all of ten minutes to install and works beautifully.

Does Not Work With GFCI Protection
Timer switches are normally used for ventilation fans such as bathroom fans. If fans are located over shower, they are required to be GFCI protected. What is the point of having the timer switch if it wont function at all with GFCI protection?

Dead in less than 1 year
Dead in less than 1 year. Worked fine for months controlling a 120vac 0.3 amp vent fan. Then, nothing. No lights, no function. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting - still dead. HD needs to stop co-branding with Defiant. It makes HD look cheap.

Junk - Don't buy or waste your time
Purchased and installed one. When I turned the breaker on, the light it was supposed to control came on, but never shut off. The indicator lights didn't work. I read and re-read the instructions, which I followed to the letter. I even reversed the wires, but nothing. Assumed the timer was defective. I returned it to HD and exchanged it for another. Exact same problem. Finally, hired an electrician who couldn't get it to work either.

Did not last
Nice features but it only lasted about a year. Was used on a bathroom fan. Trying a Lutron this time--more money but hoping for a better made product.

Bathroom Fan control failed for my situation
Purchased 2 of these and installed in two different bathrooms. Unfortunately after the initial 1 minute of the bathroom fan running, all the lights on the timer flashed and I could not get it to respond anymore.
Ended up making 4 round trips to Home Depot and finally returned it to Home Depot. I guess my wiring did not seem to allow the device to work correctly.
Purchased 2 Lutron Maestro 600-Watt Light/3 Amp Fan Timer - White from Home Depot instead and had them installed in about 6 minutes each. They worked fine right from the start of the power being switched on. The Lutron Maestro 600-Watt Light/3 Amp Fan Timer - White does not have a specified polarity, just needs the ground wire connected and then 1 of the wires connected to the device and the other wire connected to the device without any particular order.
Perhaps the way my place was wired had something to do with it not liking the specific Red, Green, and Black wires on the Defiant 6.4-Amp 4-Hour In-Wall Digital Countdown Timer with No Neutral Wire (CFL and LED) .
Spouse was right in wanting to get the Lutron Model first, could have saved me a lot of time and head scratching. The support line for the Defiant model is only available M-F 8AM - 5PM EST.
The Lutron model has 24 x 7 support, which works better for me since I am at work during the M-F 8AM - 5PM time that Defiant offers.

Works!
Very easy/simple installation! Looks great!
It's not always on point or perfect, but it does work as supposed too. Just installed today so don't know much else. As of today I would recommend buying if you're looking for a nice timer.

Bathroom fan timer
Simple, easy install. Only timer that specifically stated that you can run a fan with. Works well. Keeps steam exhausted from the bathroom.

Does the job
I wanted something to control the light in our pantry and previous attempts with a socket mounted motion sensor failed. Since the switch is outside the door a wall mount PIR was out. This timer switch was the best alternative. One thing that may have been in the instructions that I missed was that when the master button is pushed it will repeat the last time period selected which is fine for my use. The switch does not come with a wall plate so be sure to get one.

Timer Switches
I have timer switches in my house already. This one gives me more options for timing. On one of my old ones I have 10, 20, 30 and 60 minutes; the other is 3, 5, 10 and 15 minutes. This new one is 5, 15, 30, 60 minutes, 2 and 4 hours for timing. This can also deal with the load of a ceiling fan and it's lights. This one does not give you a warning that there is less than 1 minute before it shuts off like my old one does. My old one has an indicator of which button is on; the new one flashes about every 20 seconds to indicate which timer is on (a negative). It just comes in white. These timer switches are excellent for bathroom exhaust fans, if you know what I mean. I have old timers on three of my exhaust fans (5 years). Fits the Rocker switch face cover.
Read instructions completely to include fine print.

Excellent
I use it for the bathroom fan to let the steam out from the shower. It really works well. You can set it for how long you want it to stay on and leave it. Easy to install.

Awesome!
Awesome! A good-looking in-wall timer than spans from 5 minute to 4 hour intervals? Sign me up! Works great. You can override the time and use the large bottom button to turn the light/fan/whatever off as well. I installed this on a bathroom fan to clear the room after steam showers. I also plan to install one on an exhaust fan in the basement/shop as well. Very pleased- should have gotten it sooner.
