Second One Broken
Do not purchase. Second one I purchased and both broken within 6 months. Water damage. These are not meant for outdoor use. Both damaged due to rainfall.

Hi Julian, These electronic Deadbolts are meant for entry doors like a front door or back door to a home, They cannot be used on outside doors like gates because the battery pack should not be exposed to weather like rain or snow. quit working
This is the 2nd keypad that we have ordered, and both have quit working within a month of having them, (would not recommend!!!)

Failed after 13 months
Keypad stopped working after 13 months (right outside the warranty period). Changing batteries didn't help. Others have had the same problem. Super disappointed in this lock. Will not buy another Defiant product.

I've installed two of these; I put one on my...
I've installed two of these; I put one on my back door about a year ago. I liked it, so I just bought another one for my front door. I have not yet changed the batteries in either yet, so battery life seems good.
To be honest, these are probably not the most secure locks. I'm sure someone skilled could pick the keyed portion of the lock in just a few minutes, or maybe even seconds. However, if someone really wanted to break in it would be easier to throw a rock at the window. We live in an area with relatively low crime.
