My husband has installed many tub surrounds in our different homes but this one was way harder than all the others by far. He had to build all new walls. It's obviously stud to stud because it's so thin. He called it a "tissue paper", not quite that bad but it's thin. I mean this is Delta, it should be great. The local store didn't have any to view so we ordered it because it was what I wanted. After it was up it looks like someone painted it with dirt on the brush. We could have painted our old tiles and it would have looked better. Needless to say we are disappointed in this tub surround. After the tiles were put in the middle it looks somewhat better because that catches the eye.. Other tub surrounds just went up very easily. This one is a lot of work. I wish I could give this a better review but I can't.

A little flimsy but ok if you use a lot of strapping and reinforcement. The finish is fantastic and looks great for a surround.

Worst experience online shopping

Do not judge a book by its cover. The glass encasement (shown in this picture) does not come with the Delta surround. The wall part is the only item that you get and the picture is very deceiving. I like the part where you can customize it with tile and grout but it is acrylic.

This was easy to work with. The 6 inch space to add tiles to is a great idea. I did find that the tiles need to be 8mm or 6mm thick. 10 mm seems to be too thick and sticks out too much and I think that 4 mm thick would not fill up the depth enough.

I didn’t put up the panels, my son in law did, and he did a wonderful job!!! It looks amazing and I can’t believe that this new tub and shower panels are in my bathroom, and the walls look like real sparkling subway tiles! Great product!

It looked too plasticky, and there were scratches on the main panel. I returned it.

I like that I could choose the tile running across the Delta UPstile a lot. I did not install this myself. It needs to be framed well behind the wall to attach to wall so that it is solid and does not bend when you touch it. Also it needs to be trimmed when finished or one is left with plastic edges sticking out. Once trimmed it looks really nice, so far so good. I have only had it a short time. Not sure how it will hold up over time or clean but certainly improved my old bathtub/shower and was relatively inexpensive. Labor to install cost way more than the UPstile itself.

The box was damaged and no instructions but there was a great video tutorial that really helped. It’s really a nice surround

I returned it. very thin an flimsy.

After pre reading the instructions (always a good thing) acquiring the needed adhesives and furring strips cutting them to specified length and being sure to add studs where needed installation was a snap haven't completed the customized as yet but it will add to the ambiance

Can the Delta UPstile tub surround be used with an existing tub or do you have to buy the Delta 400 tub?

It’s very flimsy and hard to install. It looks pretty good.

As long as the walls were perfect than you are good. Instead of using 1x3’s I would recommend 3\4 plywood, would make it more stiffer. Instructions were a little had to understand, but doing a dry run first, I was able to figure out what the engineers were trying to say.

Do not have an illusion that the surround is a time saving item.The provided pieces are flimsy and require 3/4” backing strips to give any sort of integrity to the panels. So although it’s called a “direct to stud” application, there is still lots of time and effort needed. This was not mentioned.

It was very complicated and not well made

I chose this tub surround because I liked the idea of adding accent tile. The acrylic walls are thin but durable. I installed the panels myself in about 8 hours. The instructions were well written and the online video was helpful. After I installed the accent tile, the surround looked fantastic!

Looks good. A bit thinner and floppier than I expected. Package arrived looking TERRIBLE and I was afraid the walls may be damaged, but they were okay. The subway tile effect is pretty cool looking and I look forward to tiling the in-lay with my own tiles design.

I thought the price would include a wrapping for the tub but it was only the walls.

We purchase one of these for our budget renovation and we were so impressed. It looks very modern and very clean. It turned out so nice and at a fraction of the price we thought we’d end up paying. Just be forewarned, you do have to purchase the backsplash-trim, it does not come with the product.

Very easy to install and nice quality. Would definitely recommend. Also, manufacturer does not recommend cutting for a window, but I found it to be very easy to do and it still looks great.

Installation of this product was very easy just follow the instructions and watch the video. I would recomend though that if you are installing towel bars/shelves or grip bars that you determine where you will want to place them and put additional 1/3" wood on your studs to reinforce the placement screws if they are nort to be mounted on the 12" spaced 1/3's

This product says easy to install. False. Easy for a professional, maybe - not a do-it-yourselfer. The display instructions in the store do not clearly define the 30 additional items you need to purchase to get the tub/ shower intalled. Unless you want to pull huge boxes out in their isles and sit and read there - BEWARE! And, plan much time and patience.
