Do you have to remove all drywall around the tub to install? Or can it go over the dry wall?

When using roofing nails or drywall screws and washers to secure the tile flange to the studs do you drill holes in the flange or do you drive the nail or screw directly into the stud and half of the nail head or washer secures the flange?
When securing the tile flange of the Bootz Mauicast bathtub to the studs using roofing nails or drywall screws with washers, you do not need to drill holes in the flange itself. Instead, position the fasteners so that half of the nail head or washer overlaps the flange, effectively holding it in place against the stud. This method secures the flange without compromising its integrity by drilling through it. Just be sure not to overtighten, as that could crack or damage the flange. The tub surround look great. I have been told by some people the corners need to be caulked and others say not to caulk that by caulking it could trap moisture. What should I do.... caulk seams or do not caulk seams? Help!
