Thank you for posting your feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. The EMCO 300 Series Self-Storing Storm Door comes with a retractable insect screen. The screen is hidden in the top of the door behind the top cover plate. At the top of the door behind the cover plate you should see a metal bar which is the screen pull. The screen pull will be the same color as the door. With both hands, reach up under the cover plate and grasp the metal bar then pull down towards the ventilating window. Remember, the screen is under tension, if released before it is properly attached to the top of the window it will snap back up into the top of the door. Once you pull the screen down, you will be able to hook the screen pull to the top of the window.
