Strong set of straight mending plates. Their size and paint are great for decorative uses as well as, of course, strength. They come with 16 x 1" wood screws, enough for all four plates. They do scratch easily. Most of mine were a little scratched in the bag. One of the plates had an abrasion on it that I could not remove. It is hard to see from far away but easy when close up. They are made in China.

This is a pretty good mending plate. I used 3 for connecting wood sections for table top where I needed to maintain consistent gap between the sections. This is 14 gauge steel 4 opposing countersink holes for regular #8 wood screws. The plate seems to have been rust treated with a coating then primed and painted using something resembling powder coating. The press cut didn't leave any sharp edges, it looks like it was tumbled to remove all hazardous edges. All 4 were straight, without any curvature, protrusions or defects. The plate is thick and not springy, does not bend easy, and it is definitely not pliable. This is a great product and very well priced. Package comes well sealed, so online and bulk ordering is certainly an option.

The are great, straight mending plates are useful in a number of projects. Nothing innovative here except they are painted black with good quality finishes. This really helps make the mending plates lots of use (and try to hide) much better because they become a part of the visual appear of e project. The included painted screws are great, too, and I have had good luck with the color staying on the screw head unless you spin the bit in the screw. Be careful. I really appreciate he black finish versus the usual zinc plating./

I use mending plates for various projects in my home. I had 2 file cabinets in my office that took to much room side by side, so I stacked them and used mending plates to secure them together. I had use one already, but wanted something else to make sure they didn't move or fall apart. These 3" hammered mending plates did the trick. They came with the hardware needed to install. But the best part is the beautiful finish and the hammered look. Who says practical can't be beautiful.

The Everbilt 8 inch mending plates are great for reinforcing or repairing a straight or T-joint in a fence gate or other swinging door. The 8" length and 4 screw points allow the load to be spread out for good stability. The hammered black finish is nice enough, if you care about that sort of thing in a mending plate. There are countersunk holes to allow the mounting screws to fit flush.

I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking at a temporary repair of a truss or wooden structure such as part of a foundation that has cracked or split and wants to feel more confident about it until such part can be replaced at a later date, this product will help with giving wooden structures strength a longer life span and stabilize them until they can be replaced and they come with screws to help with installation but I recommend getting longer screws or using bolts to receive better stabilization and strength.

These are stylish mending plates that will improve the appearance of most anything you are assembling or strengthening. The hammered finish is very apparent which adds to the visual appeal. The mending plates themselves are very well built and sturdy. The mounting holes are countersunk so the screws which included will be flush to the surface. the screws seem to be well made and the black finish on them is well done. These are a nice upgrade from the standard zinc finished mending plates and will add to the looks of your project.

These Everbilt 2 inch mending plates are OK, but not great. First of all, don't think these are going to be much structural help except on very lightweight applications. In most cases, I would use these only in a decorative application. Additionally, if you plan to use them in an outdoor or damp environment, the additional coating should be used as the paint is rather thin. The package includes screws.

The eight (8) inch Galvanized Mending Plate by Everbilt in a four (4) pack is very handy to have around the house to make essential repairs to metal or wood items like chairs, tables, frames of furniture and more. The mending plate’s specifications are depth – 0.08 inch, width – 1 inch, length – 8 inch and gauge – 3. There is no manufacture warranty. The mending plates are made of galvanized steel which helps reduce rusting. Flat head screws supplied and are recommended that will fit the countersunk design holes that are milled into each plate. The mending plates are not totally flat surface, but have a stamped in pattern that is very nice looking and does not interfere with plate laying flat to surface. The mending plates are easy to cut with a hacksaw.

Tough, handy, plates for joining things together firmly. These are great for overcoming a weakness or joining some wood together. You get 4 strips of black metal with a hammered texture along with a bag of black screws about ⅝” long. Each bracket has 4 holes in a staggered pattern and the screw heads end up flush with the metal once screwed in. The hammered texture gives them an ‘old style wrought iron’ type look. Not much that can go wrong. They are strong.

Slicker than sliced bread. These mending plates are a very handy item for those small DIY projects like making a frame for something. I'll be using mine for repairing a roof joist in my shed. Hard area to take pics of so I'll just show how they look unpacked. But they'll make a nice splice between boards where super strength is not an issue but ease of installation is.

After my old vegetable garden fell apart I decided to build a larger and stronger one made from wood. I purchased six 2”x10”x8’ foot boards from Home Depot and created an 8’x16’ garden. I braced it from the insides, but after adding over 3 cubic yards of dirt felt that the two sides needed additional support. These 8 inch steel braces did the trick. They come with 4 pre-drilled holes in each plus four wood screws for each plate. Easy to align and screw in to give me the support I needed.

The mending plate worked perfectly for my project, which was making homemade exterior shutters. I used the 10" plate to attach four 3.5 inch wide planks side by side, one plate at each end of the shutters. It was hard to get the bar code stickers off of the plates, though, so I just poked through the stickers where I needed the screw holes.

I used this mending plate to repair a rotting window box. We were able to bend the plate into an L angle and attach it to the new board under the window and onto the center support of the 7' window box. Although I wasn't able to utilize screwing into more holes provided on the plate one screw on the small L section was sufficient to give enough support, and then the long end of the L section I was able to attach 2 screws. Very happy with the results. Now, a quick epoxy repair to a small section of rotted wood under the window and all will be like new.

I cannot recommend this product. If you are needing to "mend" something using 4" plates, you will use #10 fasteners, which are stronger than #8 or #6. These plates are drilled for #10 fasteners and round-head screws and machine screws work fine. Theses are cheap Chinese made plates and are not countersunk for #10 flat heads. Using these with #10 flathead fasteners the heads sit above the plate 1/16", so something can snag on them or generally look like a cruddy finished job -- it looks like the largest flat head fastener you can use and have it flush is a #6 fastener. That's crazy. Expect to buy a countersink to finish these off or buy quality made mending plates.

Are you serious about asking for a review on a 5” piece of steel? You gotta be a bit smarter than that. Don’t waste people’s time on stupid reviews like this.

The thickness of this plate was perfect. Strength was the most importance for the use of this product. The feel of it was substantial and I had no doubt this would hold up.

Had to cut a triple 2x4 stud to remove a leaking drain pipe. Removed substantial amount of the lumber section. Used 3 of these mending plates to strengthen a bridge the removed area to maintain structural integrity. These worked perfect with 1-1/2 inch steel screws.
