Great for Google Homes
If you are a Google environment in your home then this thermostat will work great. I had a Nest for 8 years before switching to ecobee due to no Apple integration support for obvious reasons. I was very happy with my Google nest while I had it but my only gripe was the lack of ability to schedule with the external sensors. You could only select four hour windows to change which location to cool and it did not allow me enough flexibility.

Do not buy
Let’s get this out there, Google is huge makes billions can care less about your failed Nest, seems there is a major issue with the Wifi chip, multiple complaints about this in reviews, seems it will work until it doesn’t and when it doesn’t it seems neither Home Depot or Google will fix it, of course you get the canned message about how they care….
I don’t recommend this product until they fix the issues!!!

Doesn’t work, can’t return
Bought 2, one worked for a while. 2nd did not work. Nest won’t return my emails or phone.
Very poor service. I’m out $460. Thanks a lot Nest
Home Depot won’t take them back either…..

Works just long enough for warranty to expire
My first one lasted just long enough for warranty to expire then wifi failed. I looked online to see this is very common for this model to fail in this way. I was able to get a replacement in October of 2022 and they still covered it under warranty so I was happy but as of July 2023 the new replacement unit has suffered the same wifi failure.
You dont need to use wifi but it is one of the nice features, for which you are spending the extra money, so it should work.

I just replaced my old honey well to this nest thermostat and it works perfect better then my old one just wish you were able to use it without a gmail.

A Little Research
Took some time to review this stat and to make sure I could install. Found it on sale, $100 rebate from local pud plus sold old thermostat, this thing cost me like $30. I appreciate the you tube videos I watched.

Nice, sort of, when it works
Good: First, easy to install & setup. Bad: no hold temp, you have to link a device so it knows you're home. Doesn't always work, constantly find the thermo in away mode. Doesn't always sense when you walk around it, at times doesn't respond to motion or touch. Constantly drops WIFI, with 15 other devices in home with no issues, including a NEST doorbell. Factory reset does not restore non functioning WIFI. Simple 'reset' will at some point allow the unit to connect to WIFI, normally 3x max works

no smarts, just a schedule.
In short their app nor the product is smart. The rigid adherence to the schedule is the largest issue. If I change the temp 5m ago, I don't still want the thermostat to move to the sleeping temp. Why is the review length so short?

Does Not Work Right On Dual Fuel
The literature says will work on Dual Fuel and Google's online community assured me this will work on dual fuel. It does wire up and turn on both the compressor and gas furnace just as expected. The problem is it doesn't use the auxiliary heat when it sees you want a big tempreture change. If my house is 50 degrees and I want it 70 it takes over 11 hours. The gas furnace can do it in two. On Google's forum many people complain about this problem. There answer to everything is don't worry, everything is fine, just give it more time to learn. It has been in a week and still has not learned I don't like to be cold.

Multiple stages of heating and cooling are handled a bit differently for a short period after your Nest thermostat has been installed. This is because your thermostat needs time to learn and customize energy saving and comfort features like Time To Temperature to your home. In most homes, Time To Temperature will take about a week to learn, but could take more if your heating or cooling system isn’t used frequently.
So your thermostat will handle multiple stages of heating or cooling differently while it learns about your home, your temperature preferences, and your system’s efficiency. Before your Nest thermostat has activated Time To Temperature, the second stage of heating or cooling will turn on when you adjust the set point 3.3°F beyond the current temperature.

Bottom line. the ambient room temperature sensor is off 6-9 degrees so the unit is junk. . Did the reset and restart a dozen times and same issue. Must be why there is a class action law suit against them for this very reason.

Poor Return on Investment
I bought 3 learnable Nests and one non-learnable. Two of the learnable have already failed. I received a no power message with the first Nest failure. The electrician checked my system and dicivered that the Nest back plate was no longer conducting electricity. I bought a new plate om-line at the Google store. Unfortunately i bought the second generation of the Nest plate. I tried to return it and soent over an hour with Goohle customer service via chat. They couldn’t find my order seoute me sending them my confirmation email. As it was winter I bought a whole new nest from the Home Delot. Again it came with the generation 1 plate . It worked. This week my upsatirs Nest has stopped wirking with the same error message. Perhaps this is why Google developed a second generation plate? Anyhow i never received my $100 refund from Google for the plate. Poor reluability and poor customer service from Google leads my to my opinionion to never buy a Nest product again.

Power errors usually occur if the HVAC system is not delivering enough power to the thermostat. Others could possibly be a wiring issue or a thermostat base issue. You can do the following to inspect your thermostat wires:
- Make sure to turn the powers off.
- Remove the C wire (if have) and inspect if the exposed part of the wire is ⅓ to ½ inch long, clean and straight.
- Cut and re-strip any crooked or corroded wire ends.
- Re-insert the wire. Make sure that the wire connector’s button stays down. If not, the wire isn’t fully inserted, and the thermostat won’t detect it.

Have other nest thermostats already, but this one was in...
Have other nest thermostats already, but this one was in the bronze / gold color to match the lighting fixtures and handles of the room. Nest is a great thermostat, easy to access and use, we have another screen based thermostat which isn’t as user friendly and costs about triple.
We appreciate the remote access, ability to manage multiple nest products in one app, and of course the tech built in. I have noticed the learning feature sometimes over learns or doesn’t readjust based on seasonal changes so I have found it better to turn off the learning feature and just set a steady temp with eco mode / away mode available for when we are away.
Would recommend to anyone, they fit in any space in both function and appearance, and shipping through Home Depot was fast.

This thermostat was an easy install it sync with our security system and our smart devices. I LOVE the fact I can regulate my thermostat from anywhere in the house. I also, appreciate the fact that it knows when we are away from home. I haven't been able to determine the savings on our electric bill as of yet, but I'm looking forward to that. Also, grateful for the rebate savings that BGE offered on this thermostat. Overall very pleased!

Tons of issues
Physical installation was a breeze. However these do not do what they are supposed to do. We have two units and they will not connect to one another. We spoke to tech support for hours and there was no good solution. Their bottom line was to create two “homes” and switch between them to control each thermostat. This was an unacceptable option as we also purchased nest compatible accessories and sensors that would not work properly with a divided account. THEN when we connected the sensors, they will not stay connected. We are technologically saavy and have wifi cameras, alarm systems, etc. This is a terrible product

I have been using this for a couple of months now. The installation was super simple. The wiring diagram is easy to follow and the instructions are clear. The provided hardware makes installing it simple. The controls are easy to use and follow as well. I installed the app on my phone and I love being able to change the temperature from my phone. My wife and I both love the feature where we can set a schedule on the app and have it run automatically.

Set it and forget it
This smart thermostat takes one thing off your mind. There are many programmable thermostats out there, but this works with many smart devices and has an app to change temperature. I can set it anywhere if I'm in bed, vacation, or about to head home it lets me have peace of mind for my gas furnace savings. It also can use your location feature on your phone to turn control the thermostat if it being used or not when you are nearby or away from home. I use Alexa and it is easy to program and to setup like a programmable thermostat depending on the season, time, and weather. Doing this the thermostat also can learn your habits and automatically adjust for it. I rarely touch my thermostat now as is it automatic.

Long time user
I've used about every generation of the nest thermostats personally and they've been rock solid for me. The key is always installing the common wire. Nest stands behind the product and getting replacements for bad units has never been a problem. As a pro installer as well I have nothing bad to say. A lot of hvac techs complain about the product but really it comes down to widespread ignorance in the hvac industry .

It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and easy to read in color. I love the feature of being able to see the weather (outside temperature) and icons for sun, cloudy, rain, etc. More valuable info than setting it on clock. However, my unit will not connect the app to use remotely on my phone. I heard this is an issue; but I didn't purchase it for that. It will learn when I am not home and adjust the temperature based on my personal settings. Plus, it earns you an rebate from your power company!

WIFI Chip Failure!
Do your research before buying this product! You have been warned. WIFI chip went bad in mine in less than 6 months. Their customer service is non-existent. Chat only, no phone support. Warranty says 2-years, but they will not honor it. Horrible cheap product. Features are awesome when they work, the problem is they are not reliable. Search online for Nest WIFI chip failure. Then make your decision. I recommend buying a different brand altogether.

I really like this product. Installation was a breeze and it gave my room a nice upgraded look. It wakes up when you walk by it, which is pretty cool, as I sometime use it as a night light. Overall great product.
