Buyer beware!!!
My client purchased two of these for a W and Dryer ‘enclosure’. Prior to staining and cutting to finished size, I cut. 6” piece off the end to do stain samples. Returned 48 hous later and the entire panel had cupped(warped....and ALOT). I was taken aback. We came up with a contingency plan. I opened up second panel to cut and found instructions, not present in first package. It stated something like it must be sealed on all edges immediately (yes immediatley) after opening original plastic packaging; if not, you must wrap in equivalent packaging(really?). Needless to say, I cut and stained both panels. We put flat on concrete floor and weighted with six 30 bottle cases of water. Came back next morning to poly and install, and the second unwarped panel was cupped just as bad. I used 1”x 1/8 “ angle iron to straighten out. Firsrt, most staining and sealing processes are two step and you cant immediately do either. Second, instructions lacking. Third, the wood quality was terrible- checks, splinters, etc. I made the best of it, but added significant labor to make it work. Glue joints were separating even after staining and sealing. Other customers have purchased and ive installed hardwood butcherblock from HD and others. I have never ran into this. Worst batch of garbage butcherblock ive ever seen! HD should be ashamed to sell this stuff at $300 per panel!!!!

    Very satisfied!
This was my first experience with a butcher block. I built a bar with it. There was a slight warp to it out of the package, but I followed googles directions prepping and staining with Water Lox and it came out nice.

Our HARDWOOD REFLECTIONS butcher block countertops are just beautiful! They were shipped in very protective packaging consisting of very tough edge, corner, and surface coverings all wrapped with plastic sheeting so they arrived in perfect condition. After cutting out for our farmhouse sink, we finished it with several coats of Tung oil which made it almost impervious to water and other stains. After a few months of use, we love it!

I was nervous because so many people had trouble with splits and separation issues. I had no such trouble. I unwrapped it and immediately used teak oil on all sides per directions on can. I am using it in a storage room that has no heat or AC. So far...great!

nice on the surface…but plywood inside?
Not sure if this is standard practice or not, but i wasn’t expecting to see plywood in the interior of the butcher block. Seems like a cost savings attempt...

        Beautiful and affordable
I ordered two pieces online, 6 foot and 10 foot. I was concerned about damage because buying in store wasn’t an option but everything arrived in great condition and shipping was faster than expected. We decided to go with a natural stain and matte poly so it just brought out the color of the wood and we weren’t worried about making it food safe. I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out. We’re thinking about putting in open shelving at some point and will probably purchase the 4 foot option.

          Gorgeous!
I love how these turned out! I researched a ton before deciding to use Waterlox (Tung oil) to protect the countertops. I put on three coats of the original and then sanded and put a top coat of Satin Waterlox for the final coat. This should protect them for many years and makes the countertop waterproof.

            Average quality, not solid wood
Purchased three pieces for our kitchen and mud room. The finished side of all three pieces is of high quality and they look beautiful with proper sealing and treating (we used several coats of waterlox). My gripe is that these are not solid wood all the way through but rather stacked and glued wood. Our sink is a large undermount type and upon cutting the opening we found several large/hollow knots that traveled nearly all the way through that required patching. The appearance of the patch stands out. I also found that another top that was cut to size featured poor (but solid) core wood with a thinner veneer layer at the end and top for a clean finished appearance. They work fine and are if good quality for the asking price. If I were to do it all over I'd recommend spending a bit more and getting them elsewhere if you're going to have exposed cuts.

It’s a decent assemblage of solid wood. It finishes beautifully. That said, they look to have been stressed along the length and some of the finger jointed seams were open. If you order this, inspect it carefully before accepting it as it dents easily and joints damage easily

One side was better finished than the other, but I only needed to show Ione side. Rubbed in 4 coats of Danish oil with the dark walnut stain,, and three coats of wipe-on poly. Made a bathroom countertop and the sink cutout is now a cutting board.

My experience with this butcher block was excellent. The one I received was of great quality, fit and finish was perfect. I ordered the 6 foot block so I could cut it down as an enclosure around a dishwasher. I also sealed it with Rubio Monocoat Pure to bring out the natural grain figure and a beautiful honey color of the Birch.

Exactly what we wanted for our kitchen!
We used this butcher block for our galley style kitchen. Finished with a water based oil modified polyurethane since we did not want the upkeep of mineral oil and will not prep food directly on the surface. It turned out perfect and the Hardwood Reflections youtube videos were very helpful. I was impressed with the shipping of our 10ft piece- it came in great condition and was sealed very well. We made sure to follow the recommendation to keep it in shrinkwrap and apply finish within 48 hrs of opening (I think this is the most important part to prevent damage).

Surprised to find this is a finished surface with rounded edges, no sanding was required. After 8 coats of polyurethane is has a beautiful durable surface. This was also well packaged to protect the surfaces and the edges. Used it for a kitchen island.

                  Perfect - DIY Home Office
This butcher block is awesome - great quality, and easy to work with, even for a novice DIY-er. Cuts nicely with a simple circular saw, and oils up beautifully with pure mineral oil. I’m so glad I decided to use it for my home office project! I used as both a countertop and a floating desk.

I actually love the birch. I would say that unfortunately it is too bright for me so I stained it with dark chestnut color to give a nice darker shade. I suggest people to buy the stain and the finisher separately. I will say that when you move this thing (it's heavy) it can chip from the sides so do be careful. I basically cut 9 inches off of the width and made it a standing desk. Also you don't have to presand this, which is a huge plus. There's some learning if you're a novice like me, but I am super happy how it came out. Last but not least, if you intend to make this a desk, make sure to drill a hole and insert a lining to basically reuse the block as a desk in case you want to take apart the desk and move elsewhere. Anyways, tldr: I love the block wish it was darker, but the birch is a lot brighter/colorful than the image suggests and it's heavy. The thing comes presanded so you don't have to sand it before staining.

Make sure you select your own. I picked mine up at customer service desk after ordering on-line and I think they picked the crappiest one for me. One side was fine, the other side had manufacturing defects and voids in the surface. It worked out for my use but I was a little disappointed.

We used these in our kitchen remodel. First time working with butcher block. Purchased 4’, 6’, and 8’. The pieces were easy to sand but takes the stain really quick so you just move fast in order to avoid streaks. **Please note as I learned...DO NOT cheap out on the blades to cut it.** I needed a new one for my circular saw and went the cheap route. It flexed so much it had started to walk away from me. Luckily it was on the scrap side. If you aren’t careful, it becomes an expensive mistake. So I purchased a good name brand blade and cut through like butter. The under mount sink hole was a little nerve racking due to the complexity of the curves. I must say they came out really nice! Applied one coat of American Oak stain and have applied 2 coats of conditioner after 2 coats of mineral oil.
