I’m not a painter, but this spray gun made me feel like one. I’m not a fan of, nor do I have the patience for a paint brush. I sprayed painted (primmer) 3 old dilapidated fiberglass ladders in about an hour. It would had taken me all day with a paint brush. Next I’ll be spraying them with paint. I’m actually looking forward to it. I wouldn’t paint a wall or a room etc with it. However, It sure is great for furniture and things with nooks and crannies. I ordered an extra container along with the 3 additional tips and the quick cleanup hose, I’m ready to rock n’ roll. I also bought some disposable paint strainers (very important). I recommend reading and understanding the instructions and get painting tips from additional sources. Good luck.

Excellent value
I bought this unit yesterday and have applied three coats of un-thinned (is that a word?) waterborne urethane on a high-end table. I have lots of painting experience, but always with industrial airless units, so this was a new experience. I started this project with a pricey hvlp gun, but it was set up for solvent paints and had too fine a tip - wouldn’t feed, even with thinning at 10% (you really don’t want to thin beyond that) so I thought I’d try out the Homeright unit. I was very pleasantly surprised, especially when I discovered I didn’t have to thin the product. The spray was quite consistent and I’m very pleased with the results, particularly when considering the price. 90% of what I sprayed were vertical surfaces and I got a good, even coat without a single run. I loaded it up right out of the box with product and went at it, starting at a low volume and running it up incrementally until I got the flow rate I wanted. I would suggest buying an extra jug, so that you can leave your product in the jug with the handy cap and use another jug for immediate clean out, which is imperative with a waterborne product. The noise level is like a vacuum cleaner - definitely much nicer than having a compressor running. I can’t comment on durability - I’ve only got about an hour or so of runtime, but so far it’s definitely worth the price. If it lasts long enough to finish this project, it will have paid for itself 3x over.

A lot of work
Not as easy to use as I thought or as the videos and literature make it seem. A lot of prep time in masking and creating a space to spray in. I learned the hard way that the sprayer sprays far beyond what you aim it at. I found the unit doesn’t deliver a fine, consistent mist, but a very blotchy spattering. I’m not sure the spray finish is worth all the trouble.

We're sorry the sprayer is not meeting your expectations. I believe if you move closer, the gun should be about 6" to 8" away from your project, that will help with the overspray. You can also turn the flow down. The better the paint is mixed up the better it will spray. Feel free to call us at 1-800-264-5442 and we will assist you. WagnerSprayTech
Awesome Tool for Lacquers and Paint
Tried this after reading good reviews. I have had excellant results spraying Deft water based lacquer. I am retired cabinetmaker and have high expectations. Lots of cabinets, trim and even a large vee groove pine ceiling. I have also sprayed latex paint and primer with good results. Experiment with the three standard tips and two air caps to get the results you are looking for. I plan to get another soon. One for paint/primer and one for clear finishes. One minor knock is that the back of the air cap has many unnecessary nook and crannies that make clean up more frustrating. otherwise cleaning is a snap.

I used this sprayer to paint an eight by ten outdoor shed. I went through about a gallon. It worked better than any sprayer I've used. I didn't notice that the tip was getting clogged after about an hour. Even clogged the performance was still better than most sprayers. I cleaned the tip and it was good. Keep a toothbrush on you and hit it briefly about every half hour and it works excellent.

This is a great sprayer. Just got it and did not have a chance to paint anything, but did try it with some water. It works really well, can't wait to actually paint or stain something with it. Much easier than using a compressor.
