Excellent product. I found no need to add any additional weight as it worked well without that.

A little tricky to assemble, but once assembled, worked great and well worth the higher cost ( than typical low end dethatcher from hardware store).

Very happy with this de-thatcher. It is better built than the competitors. This includes the other offerings of the (re-branded) manufacturer. Within a month of owning the Thatcherator has de-thatched 3 multiacre lawns, with great results. Very happy with all my John Deere (5) lawn attachments.

The Thatcherator saved me $370 on professional lawn care service in its first use. Next year its all profit. Ha Tedious to assemble, but easy to hook up to the tractor. Only complaint is that the lever arm, height adjustment spring is too powerful for my use while seated. Age 77 At every sidewalk/driveway I needed to get off the tractor and change the tong height with the lever so as not to scratch the concrete.

The product itself is great- tremendous quality and function. Assembly, however, is maddening. John Deere should be embarrassed. It’s as if they laid off 5 assembly line workers and left it to the customer to assemble a hodgepodge of pieces and parts and a collection of several odd bolts of varying sizes (but just similar enough to drive you mad) and shadowy instructions that will give you a headache. Not to mention a single page thrown in to correct the instructions in the booklet! You pay a premium for John Deere, but you sure don’t get your money’s worth from the out of box experience with this product. They owe me three hours of my life back.

Why doesn’t the seller work with John Deere to compile new instructions, or refer to YouTube Videographers to create replacement instructions. The season is nearly upon us! Jane

Overall disappointed. Beats raking by hand but for purpose of preparing soil for seed, it was pretty useless

The thatcherator is well built but the lift handle was poorly designed and I had to re-engineer it to get it to work just OK. It was also missing the box of bolts to put it together but they quickly sent me another.

The directions for putting this item together sucked! Parts should always be labeled same in putting an item together, I experienced the table of parts didn't stay the same when I was putting this item together. After putting it together, It worked better than expected! I recommend John Deere to update the assembly instructions and put out an assembly video on its assembly.

Assembly issues were a nightmare, it would not work as stated. Poor design.

Wheels don’t operate properly; they don’t rotate as they supposed to. If wheels nuts are too tight it won’t move at all and vice-versa. Other than that it works wells and very well made.

This is the second Thatcherator we've owned. We gave the other away. The product itself is excellent. However, I must say the instructions to put it together leave much to be desired. Specifically, parts in the box nicely labeled, but the parts in the bag (nuts, bolts, screws were not labeled to identify which was which, would be nice to have the item pictured by description.

Wow, this unit is heavy duty! Very heavy frame and tray, steel wheels instead of plastic. If you are looking for a quality product that will last, this is the one. It is made right and Made in America! Thank you Brinly-Hardy for going the extra step to produce such a quality product!

It's an awesome product. The machine did a marvelous job of removing dead and unwanted grass, small twigs and debris. I then lowered it to the bottom position to make grooves for the new grass seed to fall into. It's very well made and worked perfectly behind my 9 HP John Deere riding mower. I highly recommend this product.
