[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It made sense to replace my 18 year old GE downdraft cook top since I was installing new counter tops in my kitchen last March. Since most of my appliances are still GE, I thought I would stay with the same brand. After shopping for a couple of weeks I found this item from KitchenAid. It's much better quality and has the look, feel and flame control of a commercial product. It was easy to install with some minor modification of the downdraft conduit. It's much easier to clean as well!

Beautiful cooktop! Was excited to replace my glass Jenair with this beautiful stainless steel one and have enjoyed cooking in it!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At the lowest setting there is no simmer. Also the downdraft sucks the flames to the side so that things get more well done towards the center of the cooktop than they do on the outside edges

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cooks well, looks good. It’s a little hard to see the burner indicator for the knobs, still getting used to that. Downdraft works very well. Not difficult to clean. It replaced a glass electric cook top which I was never wild about, and I’m very happy to have gas again.

Just installed this and started using end of June. I’m not a big chef and use this less often than most households would. Heads up, The cast iron grates get scratched easily by the cookware.

Just had mine installed! I love it! Works and looks awesome!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfectly fitted for our space and we enjoyed the grating that covers the entire surface so everything (including the downdraft vent) is at the same height. Simple clean up, which is nice because it usually needs to be cleaned after use; stainless steel always shows when it’s dirty.

The grates are heavy duty and the stainless steel looks great in with our new countertops! The reviews I had read gave this cooktop a good rating, so I thought we would try it and, so far so GREAT!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a 30" downdraft cooktop to replace a 22 year old Jenn-Air model and this fit the bill. It was a direct drop in replacement. I did switch from electric to gas but the counter cut-out was fine. I also had to make some minor exhaust vent changes. This unit has a 6" exhaust but my vent is 5". I placed a reducer on the unit and plumbed it into the existing exhaust with a couple of new elbows. The supplied air filter is about 1 inch short of covering the entire exhaust. I was also missing two screw on one corner of the chassis. Just an oversight by the assembler. It is pretty easy to turn on the burners when you are cleaning it, so wipe gently. The fan noise is less than the old Jenn-Air.

Excellent product. Even with the downdraft fan pulling the flame, we still have not had any cooking/heat problems. Excellent design and beautiful on the counter. What a great look! Well done Kitchen Aid and thanks Home Depot.

It's beautiful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a wonderful cooktop. One of the best things about it, is the continuous grates. You can move pans around easily without spilling. I have not really used the very small burner yet, so I do not know how useful it will be. The rest of the burners have enough btu to heat up fast. I have been waiting to switch from electric to gas for 20 years, and I am very pleased with my choice. I absolutely love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cooking with gas! Everything works well. I wish the downdraft were more powerful, but without an over head vent a hood, this is probably a good as one can hope for., Does A great job with a cast-iron wok.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few months ago and there are some design flaws that I think need to be worked on. The downdraft is open so any spills go directly into the downdraft spilling on the screens and the sides of the vent. Also, if you spill around the knobs and scrub to hard, you will scrub off the decals indicating what knob you are turning on.

Replaced identical 10 yr old model (white). Old unit fit cutout perfectly; new unit did NOT. Old unit used low-profile sheet metal screws on underside. New cooktop has sheet metal screws that are not low-profile, so length and width dimensions of new unit are larger than old cooktop. Had to either enlarge cutout or replace 20 sheet metal screws. Also, disappointed new unit does not use smudge proof stainless like our KitchenAid dishwasher. Now have cleaning headache on kitchen island.

Overall, it’s a great cooktop. If I had three things I would change, the center open exposed downdraft is an issue if you spill anything on top of cooktop. Also, the burner control directions are painted on rather than etched in, therefore, if you use, a heavy cleaner or scrub hard to clean the cooktop the paint will scrub off. If you’re messy cooktop user, I would not recommend this one. But if you take care when cooking and clean it gently, you’ll be fine. Lastly, the noise of downdraft is the same (rather loud) whether it’s in high or lower and suction seems to be the same.
