How To Measure For A New Cooktop
Taking accurate measurements in your home is critical when planning to buy a new cooktop. Here are step by step instructions on how to do it correctly.

Product Overview

This 30 in. gas cooktop includes Downdraft, an integrated ventilation system that doesn't require a separate hood. The cooktop features a 17K BTU professional burner to achieve both high heat needed for searing and low simmer settings. The 5K BTU EVEN-HEAT Simmer Burner enables precise simmering and melting while the 300 CFM exhaust rating means the venting can handle it all.
  • 17K BTU Professional Burner provides the ability to use high-temperature cooking methods such as searing, stir-frying, and wok cooking as well as low temperatures suitable for simmering
  • 3-Speed Fan Control can be precisely matched to cooking needs, effectively removing steam, grease and odors from the air
  • 5K BTU even-heat simmer Burner a diffuser plate allows more control of the flame at the lowest setting, for more precise simmering and melting
  • 15K BTU Professional Burner reaches the high temperatures required to quickly get liquids to a boil and for high-temperature cooking techniques including getting a great sear on meat
  • Full-Width Cast-Iron Grates enhance the beautiful look of the cooktop and allow easy movement of cookware around the entire cooking surface
  • LP Conversion Kit Included allows you to convert the cooktop so it can be used with LP gas
  • Downdraft ventilation integrates the ventilation system into the cooking surface so that a separate hood is not needed smoke and odors can be removed and taken outside or filtered and recirculated inside a duct-free kit is available for purchase separately
  • Stainless steel knobs enhance the look of the cooktop surface with sturdy construction that adds to their premium feel
  • Electronic Ignition and Automatic re-Ignition lights burners with an electric spark instead of a pilot light. For more reliable performance, burners are relit if the flame is blown out
  • Convertible to Duct-Free ventilation allows a downdraft cooktop to be placed nearly anywhere in the kitchen using a duct-free conversion kit (not included). This filters and recirculates the air without running ductwork, ideal for kitchens with installation restrictions or ducting limitations
  • 300 CFM Exhaust Rating handles the venting requirements of high temperature cooking techniques like pan searing and stir-frying
  • Melt Cap Melt chocolate or butter, simmer delicate sauces, or poach eggs on a low-power burner, thanks to a wider burner cap that shields and diffuses the flame to produce a gentler, low-power heat
  • Lights burners with an electric spark instead of a pilot light. For more reliable performance, burners are lit if the flame is blown out
  • Installation is not available in all locations, see store for details

What a beautiful cooktop!!!!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just had it installed and I couldn’t be happier. It was one of the only ones on the market that had a center downdraft. And I really like all of the knobs on the right hand side. It looks gorgeous on my kitchen island.

    Kitchen aid downdraft cooktop
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have really enjoyed this cooktop! Love the 4 sizes of burners for various pan sizes but mostly the higher BTU’s which allow for quicker cooking times!

      Beautiful and efficient
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Im so glad my old gas cooktop was irreparable. I had no idea what I was missing out on. Fast smooth igniter, perfect amount of BTU, love the low simmer diffuser plate and easy to clean. One caveat: the knobs got bent during shipping. Still works fine, it just bothers me a bit. Just a matter of better securing of packaging for shipping. Also it would be better if the knobs came off for cleaning especially since they are textured.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought as part of kitchen renovation and love the low profile. It is sleek and the downdraft is VERY quiet. Love it!

              LOVING MY NEW STOVETOP!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed few weeks ago - love it so far! (A little nervous about keeping SS from staining from cooking greases etc...) but following instructions

                Loving it!!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently bought 30” downdraft cooktop and installed it with no problem. This replaced our 30 plus year Amana cooktop and glad we chose KitchenAid. Our concern during the research was that the fan tends to pull flame while turning it on. We do heavy cooking everyday and the fan setting on low works perfectly fine for us. I highly recommend this product to anyone who are looking to replace their old ones.

A nice cooktop, but is it worth the price?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased a 30” kitchen aid cooktop with downdraft blower. Let me say first, this specific unit was purchased to replace an older Jenn Air cooktop of similar design. I wanted to retain the downdraft feature and there are very few cooktops to pick from. I found only GE, Jenn Air, and Kitchenaid make this style of cook up with downdraft. The unit works as advertised. Build quality is OK, but not as substantial as the older Jenn Air I am replacing. We have been very careful, but the unit is prone to scratch. The tampo printed markings around the knobs will wear off over time. From everything I find, the two large burners are identical even though factory documentation list two different BTU outputs. The auto restart feature, in event of flame out, works very good. The sealed burners are great. Install was relatively easy, just follow the instructions. Keep in mind, my situation was a replacement not a new install. Kitchenaid and Jenn Air have the same parent company. The only difference between the competing Jenn Air unit seems to be brass burner material on Jenn Air. Would I buy the unit again, probably, but the price point should be about 20% lower.

Rings at base of control knobs will come off
This product functions really well with the slight exception of the downdraft - when that is on, it pulls the flame from the closest burner and your food will cook unevenly as a result. Not a big deal for me but the problem that is annoying me more is that the protective rings at the base of each knob are only attached with a bit of glue. All of them came off in less than a year. The repair company KitchenAid directed me to said they will come off again, no question, that this is a design flaw, a cheap method KitchenAid chose to attach the rings. Unfortunately, they don't re-glue the existing rings, that won't hold, they need to replace with new ones. Which will also come off at some point. So...every year (except the first warranty year) you can expect to pay to replace these knobs, pay to have a service call to do it. Factor this into your cost - another $200 additional cost per year, for each year you own the product. And when you call for customer service, expect to wait on hold for at least 30 mins before speaking with someone. Unfortunately I have too much experience with faulty Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid (same company -they have other brands as well) products recently as part of a kitchen remodel - whirlpool fridge, kitchen aid dishwasher and now the range - all have had multiple service calls in the first year. In fact, I'm writing this while on hold with KitchenAid customer support - 32 mins and counting (my longest is 45mins). There is a quality control problem, apparently, at Whirlpool manufacturing these days. And a complete lack of interest in customer support/customer satisfaction. I'd recommend you look elsewhere.
