Bear with me, because the backstory justifies my opinion of this LG Dryer: Back in April of this year (it's Dec now), I purchased a new Whirlpool dryer from another retailer. But, it's commonly sold everwhere. Fast forward 4 months and I'd had 8 local technicians onsite trying to fix a rattle. Whirlpool refused to simply replace the unit. I somehow finally reached someone at WP customer service who realized the absurdity of the situation and agreed to replace the unit. The new unit was only slightly less noisy. I'm talking, my laundry room was in a room off my kitchen and if my dryer was running, I couldn't hear anything going on in the kitchen. I had previously filed a complaint with the US Consumer Protection. Because of that, I was finally contacted by someone from Whirlpool's "Executive Office" asking about my experience and the new dryer. I explained that the process was ridiculous and that I would NEVER buy another WP product again because of the experience (to-date, I have 3 other WP appliances in my home). I also told him the "new" dryer wasn't much better than the other one. He agreed to a "buy-back." Apparently, this is reserved for REALLY unhappy customers. In short, they take back the dryer and refund my money--something that should have been offered months ago and BEFORE I involved the government. That is supposed to take about 3-weeks. In the meantime, I purchased this LG as a replacement. For starters, imagine having an F-150 idling in your home and then replacing it with an electric vehicle. That's how much quieter this LG dryer is. Other than the clothes tumbling, it barely makes a sound. It also actually dries clothes rather than stopping halfway through because the sensor incorrectly thought the clothes were dry. AND, it does all this in about 1/3 less time than the WP. THIS is how a dryer should be. Thank you LG!

Love it! Dual swing dryer door is awesome as my laundry room has limited space. Washer and dryer are both HUGE, honestly I think if I tried (I won't though), I could fit myself in the washer, I'm 6' 2" 250 lbs LOL. I can do a full week's worth of work clothes and still room to spare! Delivery was on time AND even though I was told they'd just drop off at the street the guys were able to back down my tiny long driveway in the big truck, unpack them and carried right into my laundry room. Thank you Home Depot, LG, and delivery company (outsourced by HD) !! I am extremely happy with my purchase and experience!

We love it! Looks great. Easy to install and use. Lots of features. Very quiet. Huge capacity. We were looking for a top quality dryer, with all the bells and whistles. This is my first LG machine and I am totally impressed. We love the graphite steel color, and the huge capacity of this dryer allows me to save time by drying more clothes at a time. The clothes come out of the dryer without damage or wrinkles. The dryer features several selections for cycles and different drying time options. The dryer operates quietly and does not vibrate much, however you do need to level the machine prior to use by using a bubble level and adjusting the feet accordingly, to account for any high or low spot in the floor beneath the machine. This particular model dryer features a dual opening door. The door opens from the top like a hamper or from the side. The door hinge also is reversible, so you can change the swing of the door from left to right or vice versa. The top opening door eliminates the need to bend over to load the machine like I had to do with my old front loader. A vent kit and dryer rack are available, but not included. The operating manual is well-written and contains accurate illustrations that explain all of the available drying cycles. There are a lot of buttons on the control panel, and several dry cycle settings, but I find that I don’t change settings all that much, if at all; more often than not opting to use one of the presets. At the end of the dry cycle, the dryer will tumble every few minutes to help prevent wrinkles from setting into the clothes. There is a sensor that monitors for vent flow blockage and a reminder to clean the lint filter. The lint filter is located in the front of the machine where it is easy to lift out, clean and replace before each load. At the beginning and end of the drying cycle, the machine makes a number of pleasant chimes. Overall, my family and I are extremely satisfied with this dryer, as well as the matching washing machine, and highly recommend it.

I received this dryer and its matching 4.5 cu ft top loading high efficiently washer at the same time. I’ll cover the washer in a separate review immediately following this one. This electric LG DRYER is rated by the manufacturer to have a maximum capacity of 7.3 cu ft. The finish is called Graphite Steel. The top and control surround look like they are finished in a dark grey painted finish but the cabinet itself has a beautiful dark brushed stainless steel look. The lit drum is not stainless steel like those of its pricier cousins but instead has a durable aluminized alloy finish on steel. The electronic controls have 8 separate programs with 7 additional options including wrinklecare, control lock, more time, less time, damp dry signal, energy saver, and default on/off. The dryer can be manually set with multiple temperature levels and manual drying times. However, in actual use, I always use the impressive and efficient automatic dryer settings. Simply load the dryer, select the type of load - cotton, perm press, delicates, etc,, set the level of drying desired - normal to extra dry, and press the start button. The dryer will shut off automatically when the load is dry thus eliminating over drying the load and wasting electricity. Installation was easy. I simply installed the 30A electric cord, 3 prong in my case since I was replacing an existing dryer, attached the vent pipe and leveled the machine with its 4 leveling legs. After that was done I ran the 3 minute installation test that is programmed into the machine which checked the dryer for proper function and proper venting. The door on this dryer is unique in that besides being reversible it also opens partially down from the top for easy loading. This dryer has a number of built-in safety features including a control child lock and a continuous FlowSense Duct Clogging Indicator which should reduce the chance of a lint fire caused by a clogged or partially clogged vent duct. The pleasant sounding end of cycle signal can be turned off if desired. This dryer can be connect to LG’s ThinQ app which will send a signal to your smart device when the load is finished. You can also remotely turn off the dryer with this app. There is a built-in SmartDiagonsis feature that helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone to minimize costly service calls should the dryer malfunction. LG provides a 1 year warranty on the entire dryer, parts and labor. There is a 10 year warranty on the drum. This dryer is made in Korea.

In short, LG really does make "Life Good." I have owned several different LG appliances over the past few years, and they have all been great. I haven't had any problems and they all have performed as expected. So, I have no doubt that the LG Electronics 7.3 cu. ft. Graphite Steel Electric Dryer with EasyLoad Door will be around, drying my familie's clothes, for a good long time. The dryer came on the expected delivery date, well within the time frame I was given by the delivery company. Set up was easy as well. The features are about what one would expect from a modern dryer. The drum can fit my queen size sheets and comforter and everything comes out dry the first time.

Very quiet, super easy to use, my entire load of clothes came out dry, cosmetically eye appealing and the dryer is rated with an energy star efficiency so who could want anything more! The LG Dryer has a huge 7.3 cu. Ft. drum so it can handle larger loads but with such a large drum it can still get the clothes moving around so they all get dry. The dryer comes with a “sensor dry” system that automatically adjusts the drying time to the moisture level of your load. The controls are very easy to use with several pre-programed popular selections including the best yet “wrinkle care”. This will be a great savings for me over the old dryer because with three daughters constantly throwing “a blouse” in and hitting high to get the wrinkles out this has to be a cost savings for me. The manual mode can be selected allowing you to be able to adjust to whatever you want; the dryer is very versatile. The dryer comes with several applications such as the Smart Diagnosis feature that can be accessed with an app on your smart phone, FlowSence which will alert you when your duct work is restricted and needs cleaned, along with SmartThinQ which will allow you to monitor you dryer remotely and provide updates to the operating system. The door is smoked diamond glass and opens two ways. Downward as a “hamper” door at approx. 40% open or as a traditional left or right fully open. Mine opens to the right but with about 45 min. and some basic tools you can switch the door to a left hand open is you chose. There is no light in the drum, but the drum is light colored, and I can see perfectly fine in it to get all my clothes out. I did a load in normal mode and started to worry at first, but I think what the dryer was doing for several minutes was figuring out the moisture content and fluffing the clothes up. After a bit I could feel the heat come on then it cooled down then the heat came on again etc. The dryer cycled like this until 50 min. later the clothes were completely dry, not one wet sock. The minuet display would fluctuate as the I think the moisture sensor was doing is job so watching it will kind-a make you crazy. The only issue I had with the dryer is that you cannot put anything even slightly abrasive on the top as it will scratch the paint, so clothes only and metal buttons will scratch it. This is a great dryer, easy to use, easy to install, energy efficient, versatile, recommended.

Quiet, slim profile for a 7.3 CU Ft model, lots of drying options. The door is configurable to open left or right. Comes set up to open to the right (right hinge). Of course I needed it to open left, so I followed the instructions and moved the hinges accordingly. Not a hard job, but lots of screws to deal with and some funky mechanisms to account for. The door also opens (partially) downward. This is the case no matter which side the hinge is on! This is the "Easy load" feature. Be sure not to force the door all the way down as it will pull the hing screws out and damage the mechanisms. The dryer works great! Cannot complain about it's functionality or efficiency as it drys clothes perfectly. My only complaint is that there's no interior light. There is a window in the door, but not inside light. Paired up with the matching washer and it's a great set!

This dryer is very spacious. Has enough room to handle large items, I did not overload it but I was happy with the results that I received. I used this in conjunction with the matching washer from LG. By the time the clothes were done in the wash they were not that wet, which meant the dryer had less work to do than normal. This has a tinted glass on the door, so you can see somewhat inside to male sure the is rotating properly. I had no issues to report and I am waiting on the light bill to determine it"s energy efficiency. I was happy with the resulta of the drying, clothes were dry, what more could you want from a dryer

What a super energy efficient dryer and it has a high tech sensor system. I ran a test load in my old dryer and then ran the same load in the LG dryer to see if it really was more of an energy saver, and it was. My old dryer took 55 minutes to dry the load, and it used about 3 kilowatts of electricity. So at 11 cent per kilowatt, it cost me about 33 cents to dry my clothes in my old dryer. With the LG, it did take 67 minutes to shut off, an extra 12 minutes, but it used only 11 cents of electricity, right at 1 kilowatt. So the best I can figure out is, it uses 1/3 the electricity my old one did. And my old one wasn't that old. When you first start the dryer in "Normal" mode, it shows 57 minutes and is in "Energy Saver" mode by default. I figured out what that is. "Energy saver" starts the dryer in air fluff mode for about the first 45 minutes of the dry time. I felt little or no heat on the dryer vent duct. I thought it was broken. But then at the end of the dry cycle the heat turns on, everything gets hot, then the timer jumps around (down to 6 min.-then back to 14min.) while the sensor is adjusting the heat and time. Worked perfectly. It was way more than 57 minutes to start, but it costs 1/3 as much. I love the fact the door opens both ways. Great for tight spaces like mine. But when you open it "Hamper" style, it only opens 40 degrees by the way, and it feels like if you dropped something on it, it might break off. I did reverse the door opening for my installation. It's like a jigsaw puzzle and about 8 pages in the manual. It's not that hard if you are handy and can take things apart and put them back together again. You basically take the parts out 1 by 1, and lay them on the other side of the door. Then following the instructions, flip them 180 degrees and put them back in on the other side of the door. It took me about 1/2 hour to do it, but with the dual opening door, it's more complex than just switching hinges. The only con was, no drum light. But other than that, LG hit a home run with this one.

This is the first time in many many years and several dryers, that my entire mixed load came out ...
This is the first time in many many years and several dryers, that my entire mixed load came out fully dry, and fluffy too! I'm in my 50's and have spent my entire life searching for a dryer that would actually dry the entire load of clothes, including the collars of my polo shirts, and actually everything would be dry. I've found my match! My first mixed load was jeans, towels, polo shirts (heavy ones), underwear, socks, and some other stuff. Threw it all in, used the NORMAL selection, which picks the presets, and when it was done, everything was completely dry. And the fluffy part was pretty cool too. Most dryers I've used tend to toss, but not really strongly enough to fluff things up, and as such I guess the laundry gets kinda pressed down and parts remain damp. This sensor system ensures everything is dry - and I'm here to tell you it works. First time I ever had a full mixed load ever be completely dry and fluffy. I have been doing the same laundry for years, so this isn't a placebo effect. I can smell and feel it is clean and dry. Not overly dry, but dry. When I first started up the dryer, I felt the exhaust tube and it was cool, so I thought it was broken. I took time to read the book and realized that as default, energy saver does an air dry for awhile, then applies heat, then cool air, then heat, etc. Most efficient way to dry, but also a way not to burn clothes. I wear bigger sizes but buy even bigger sizes because when I ask the kids to put stuff in the dryer, they burn it and my shirts shrink. So, this is so evenly and well designed in the programming, that isn't happening. It is drying everything 100% but without the need to just turn on the toaster element burn the clothes. There is an app for some connectivity with your smartphone, for techno geeks like me. For IOS, NFC is not supported, so you are limited to diagnostics via an audible message to your phone's microphone. A bit strange, but it works, see screen shot in the photos section. That is all I need, to be able to troubleshoot without having to send a tech out to tell me XXXX is broken after he connects his phone. They can come with the necessary part, if this ever breaks. Saves me time and aggravation having to bypass that initial service call if I can find out what is wrong via diagnostics. If you have Android you'll get more out of this. You can change some settings like to by default turn off the energy saving mode, or to make the tones louder or softer, but frankly this has been so well thought out I don't know if there is really anything I will change. I throw clothes in, put in a dryer sheet, clean the lint filter, pick NORMAL, and press start. Done. Oh yes, there is a sensor that can tell you if the exhaust hose loses its ability to exhaust properly. I cannot tell you how valuable this is, being able to know that you have a blockage in your dryer exhaust hose. Never seen anything like this. Amazing. I feel so much better knowing that it knows and will alert me to this. This is so often the cause of dryer fires, clogged lint outputs and it catches on fire. Not a chance since this is monitored and can clean it before that would happen. Okay, so there is one small thing that triggered me at first. No dryer drum light. The drum is darker inside, not white like my last dryer (which had a light) and there is no light. I have lots of dark clothes, so I will have to be careful to be sure I get everything out of there. Not a big deal when I have had a completely dry load of laundry for the first time in my life, but makes me feel insecure, like it is broken or something because every other dryer I have ever owned always had a drum light. Small mental issue fo me to get over. You will not like spending more for something like this, but trust me when I tell you it is worth it. I spent a lifetime cheaping out on the washers/dryers, only to find my clothes haven't been as fresh and clean as they could have been and that is sad. I just didn't know that one was truly different from another except in price.

      Get something else
We bought this dryer recently and are still very frustrated with it. The sensor is way too sensitive and won't dry clothes all the way. In the south, that is a big deal. We have to use the manual settings and max out the time to 99 minutes to get one load dry.
