Holds great but tube leaks

Used to hold together some painted CMU’s for a raised planter bed. The glue comes out easy, and held great. However after every time I’d stop gluing. The glue would continue to flow out the tube. Tried pulling back on the caulk gun rod. And plugging it with a screw. But it would still flow out. Felt like I wasted quite a bit.

The issue you described is referred to as "after-flow.” Typically, this is caused by cutting the nozzle too small and/or exerting excessive pressure during application with a caulking gun. It can also be caused by a rapid rise in temperature. Releasing the push rod on the caulking gun and tapping the cartridge downward will help eliminate the problem. This stuff really holds. I used it to bond some molding returns that were too small to nail. The following day I couldn’t break them apart with a hammer. (Destructive testing on a practice piece) Originally purchased to bond oak stair treads. Clean up the excess before it dries!

Locktite has a great website to determine what products to use for your application. I needed to connect metal to ceramic tile. It indicated that I should use their PL Premium. Home Depot has it in stock. Work great, just make sure you clean the surfaces and apply as instructed.
