This is premium bird seed which is all seed...no fillers to bulk up the bag...which is why the premium price. The birds still around this winter (house sparrows, red winged black birds, chickadees) are bulking up on this seed so I've decided to put half of the bag away to save for spring and the summer to see what varieties of finches and warblers I can attract. Check out the small size of the seeds before dumping indiscriminately into any feeder as it may just pour out too-large openings.

The bag of "Finch" small songbird mix by "Lyric Wild Bird Food" arrived a few days ago just as the small birds have started to visit the feeders placed around the property. Songbird time in the South starts in January due to the warmth. And the birds are hungry. Following the manufacturer's directions, I have placed this mixture in a tube feeder designed for small finches which is working very nicely. The small birds readily are flocking to this area and taking their turns eating every seed...they've emptied the feeder twice already! This Lyric Finch food is a great all-seasons food. I intend to keep using this food for the birds in my yards. And if you are a bird-lover, use this food and you'll soon notice how happy the birds in your yard are too! This is a seed mix that I have been using for my smaller birds for several years and always keeps them in the back yard. Finches, like other birds like nuthatches, and small woodpeckers, are around all year long. So I work hard at keeping them close for feeding and watching. All visitors seem to enjoy this food and it can be used easily in different types of feeders, even those of the Nijer type seeds, due to its small size. If you continue to provide their three requirements (cover, food, and water), they will remain close and available for many years. They seem to love this seed, as it provides a variety of the small seeds they are accustomed to in the wild. My little guys are always taken care of, as they are here year round.

Goldfinches and chickadees love this stuff. We tried others but this is the only food that brings in all the birds we like.

Excellent food for smaller birds, great price

While it took about 2-3 weeks before the birds found the feeder, it has been active since. We have had quite a variety of song birds and a few small woodpeckers enjoying the bird feed. It is fairly small, so make sure your feeder has screens to deal with this. The one we are using has pop-out caps that keep it in place. I took one of these off to get the birds started and then they peck through fine and continue to come back. We will be purchasing this to refill, once we run out. It seems to be a hit with the locals.

The finches go through this so fast that I decided to buy 20 pounds instead of 5 or 10. Same product, but less per pound in a larger bag.

Good seed at a good price. This Lyric 5 lb. Finch Small Songbird Wild Bird Mix comes in a strong plastic bag, so the seeds are dry and fresh when you get them home. The collection of small seeds is great for gravity feed feeders. Little birds of many varieties are enjoying it. I also put out on a platform feeder and because it is small seeds, I don't have as much of a problem with the bully blue jays taking over. We get a lot of smaller birds, so this appears to be a great seed at a very fair price.

Everything was well packaged and very secured. Nothing loosed in the box no tear or busted bag in the box. Since I put the wild bird mix out I am pleased to see an brand new assortment of small birds coming into my yard. I love watching those birds and hear them sing. The package came in very good condition and no tear in package or box torn. thank you.

This is a nice mix of quite small seeds like thistle and millet, tailor made to suit the tiny beaks of tiny birds. I have not actually seen any finches come by since putting this out, but they are rather rare in these parts. On the other hand, the titmice seem to quite enjoy it. Of course all the larger birds (jays, doves, etc.) still come around and eat as well. The package recommends putting it into a feeder with smaller holes specifically designed for smaller birds. That's probably a good idea, but it works just fine in my hopper-style feeder.

Very tiny, little seeds of several kinds that are good for smaller finch like birds. Seed was fresh, clean, and birds loved it. I mixed this with some other seeds like safflower, sunflower, and peanut hearts because I have several kinds of birds at my one large feeder. I found a lot of the little birds picked this seed out and threw the larger seeds on the deck for the cardinals and larger birds to eat. I think they are now hogging the feeder all to themselves. I will have to put up another feeder just for these seeds.

I use this as a mix with other seeds. The combination of sunflower kernels, golden millet, nyjer seed, canary and canola seeds will attract the small birds to the feeder. When blended with other seed mixtures, the result is a good variety to attract a good number of different birds. After filling the feeders in our yard, the birds hit the feeders and just stayed put, eating the seeds. Overall, this is a really nice product from Lyric. I've had several other varieties of seed from Lyric, and every one of them was of really great quality...Just seeds, no twigs or garbage. Very satisfied, and highly recommended.

I have a bird feeder on my patio and most of the wild bird food sold in stores contains sunflower seeds in the shell, which makes a tremendous mess on the patio. This bag of Finch Small Songbird Wild Bird Mix has no shells, so there is no mess. The reason I am not giving it five stars is because I don't have any finches around here, mostly just sparrows and cardinals, so it would be better if the wild bird mix was meant for a more general bird population. Hopefully all of the birds will like it. I also like bags larger than five pounds so I don;t have to buy them as often.
