I purchased this chain saw after seeing a few videos on YouTube. And I must say I was extremely impressed with its quality and performance. I’ve used it to fell a few 8 inch trees on my property and trim up some limbs . It is a perfect option if your looking for a portable light weight saw . And the battery life is exceptional.

EXCELLENT CHAINSAW After watching head to head videos, and learning about these machines. I quickly wanted to try one of these... a short while later, and I have 3.. Well one I gave to my dad ;) And we Love them! Two 14 inch and a 16 inch bar. Hardwood more like HA-This Joke wood. it provides many. many. many. many. many Cuts! Plus with the 4 batteries per saw, you could saw FOREVER. charges in 45 minutes and cuts Way longer than that. Were you thinking to buy this? BUY it! the batteries are interchangeable and its easy to use right out of the box. 3 year warranty, but its Solid and I feel it will out last that.

I love, love, love this chainsaw. I am currently trimming crepe myrtle trees and other larger trees in my yard and the chainsaw is working wonderfully. The charge lasts about an hour. That's good enough for me because I have to gather the limbs I have cut and carry them by truck to our transfer station where I can dump them. So, while I'm gone I can recharge the batteries. This is a great tool. It cuts really well and it's light weight for a chainsaw. I'm an old guy but I can use it on an 8 foot ladder for an hour without my arms getting too tired. I've had the chainsaw since Jan 8. Going to build a 14 X 20 foot shed using it to cut 6 inch beams in a couple of months. For anyone tired of a heavy gasoline powered saw or a corded electric, I'd recommend this one. Just keep in mind that the charge lasts about an hour of cutting.

Great saw, plenty of power. Best thing is no yanking on a cord. Just add chain oil put in charged batteries and get your job done.

This thing is a beast!!!! Light and spins up to speed instantly. Love that it shuts off when not in use. No more setting a hot (and running) chainsaw down in dry grass.

Over the last few years I purchased several XCu02 12 inch Makita chainsaws for myself and Christmas gifts. When I went to buy another 12" for a 2023 Christmas present I was disappointed that it was discontinued, and I begrudgingly bought the 14" XCU03. HA, I say HA ! It turned out that I now like the 14" better in 3 ways - 1. On the 12, both batteries hang off the back. On the 14, they're in the middle for better balance. 2. On the 12, your right and left hand are almost next to each other, it's OK, but when rocking the saw back and forth, it just feels different than a gas chainsaw. On the 14, the handles are about 8 inches apart and feel very similar to a gas saw. 3. On the 12, it did not come with a metal spike, and I had to buy a Makita spike for $12.00 for every saw and assemble it on the saw. The 14 comes with a spike already attached. After my first two "automatic oiler" chainsaws failed 50 years ago because the oiler port got clogged with chips, I've always manually oiled my chain from there after. So, I cannot comment on the automatic oiling feature of the 12 or the 14.

Not for any practical use
Just nought yesterday. Charged battery. Connected bar and chain. Add bar and chain oil. Went into yard to cut up dead fallen tree and wouldn’t even make a dent before chain came off. Reassemble chain and bar begin cutting and all of a sudden chain comes off. Even if it didn’t come off it will take months to cut this tree up which should only take an hour or two at most. How do I get my money back cause this isn’t worth it.

Only used the saw to cut a few limbs, but worked great. I looked at the reviews before I purchased, so to tighten the chain you have to keep the locking nut loose, but tighten the locking nut once the chain is tight.

Thought, being a Makita, this unit would be a little more stout. The thin blade and chain rail are flimsy and the chain can jump off the rail quite easily. A little re-engineering might be in order.

We use this saw primarily for selling and trimming Christmas trees, it’s fantastic. The 5 Ah batteries easily last all day for our usage, and the saw cuts great with instant torque. It’s also strangely quiet after we were all used to a gas powered saw.

Battery lasts pretty long time. Saw works excellent. Very happy yet appalled that HD did not have any in stock to check out or purchase. My brother has one and raved about it which is what sold me so I ordered 1 online which arrived quickly.

    Good for small projects
This saw is an excellent choice for trimming branches or processing small trees. I can usually get about 30 minutes of constant cutting from one set of 5.0AH batteries before they run out of juice. The chain tensioner is a joke and constantly comes loose. If I'd have known there is a model (XCU07Z) with a standard 2-bolt tension system I would have bought that one. Check the tension every couple minutes to avoid having the chain jump off like mine did.

      Woodworking
For a battery powered unit it works good, just keep the chain tight, don't let it jump the bar. Make sure to get the 5ah batteries.
