Smartest move to keep the house cool
Installation and directions very easy to follow. We also put an on/off switch for the fan going up to attic. Set the temp. to go on automatically at 90 degrees. Very quiet. Kept the house 5-10 degrees cooler when fan was on.

Believe to be a good purchase
I'm 65 years old and installed it myself--you'll probably need a saws all to cut a hole in the roof--I made a template from cardboard / marked it between the beams in my attic and cut -took less then 5 minutes. Adjusted the thermostat to about 105-110---The wiring was as easy as hooking up a light!!--I hooked up a extention cord (Temporary )--will install a switch later

exceeds my needs and expectations
I use this product to ventilate my 1 1/2-car detached garage. It removes the heat that builds-up especially in the upper rafter storage area. It lets the garage be usable and workable on all but the hottest of Summer days. It blends-in great with the roof; just order a dome color that closely matches your roof color. I recommend professional installation unless you have carpentry and roofing skills. I had mine done by the company that installed my new roof a few years back. The difference is so great, I wish I did this longer ago. For a 2-car garage, I would recommend the higher CFM model. I will also be ordering the lower CFM model for my storage shed/workshop. I highly recommend this product line.

We are sorry to hear that your fan quit working. We test all of our motors before they are shipped out, but unfortunately it sounds like you received a defective motor. Feel free to call for warranty next time at (800) 433-1626 or email at rtv@bvc.com.

Easy install. Very quite motor. Works great. I actually installed it in my garage, not the attic. I have an open ceiling garage with no insulation. On very hot day, heat would stay trapped Inside making it unbearable to be in there. This fan fixed that problem and cools the garage by at least 20 degrees.

I replaced 2 US Solar roof fans with 2 of these thermostatically controlled electric fans. Even though I am now using electricity, these fans are only on when the attic temps go above 90 degrees. So they are not using power all the time and this makes it very affordable to use. The main reason for replacing the solar fans is that they don't move a lot of air. These electric fans move so much more air that we can feel the difference down in the living areas. We know we are saving money by not using the A/C as much, also.

This roof vent was easy to install. I'm in the process of having my garage roof replaced, and wanted to add a power roof vent. This unit was perfect for my needs. It runs very quiet, and it moves a lot of air. This should make a big difference in how hot my garage attic gets, as well as helping the new shingles last longer. Roof shingles get hot enough just from the sun light, but the heat, and it's long term damage, is amplified from a hot attic. I highly recommend this attic roof ventilator.

This product is a huge disappointment
I installed this attic fan and in less than a week it was making more bearing noise than the previous unit it replaced. It sounds terrible. The motor in the previous unit seized after some 20 years in service. This is bearing noise -not fan noise and it is obvious that it will fail soon. Now I have to go back on the roof to remove it and into a very hot attic to disconnect the electrical connections. I AM VERY UNHAPPY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How will I be compensted for this huge inconvenience ???????????????????????? J. W. Litchfield

Warranty not so good
Fan looks nice on my roof. I have only had the fan for a month installed. The motor has gone out and I now have to send back the motor (at my expense) to receive a new motor. Not sure how this was a great deal. We will see after I get the new motor and installing it.

TJS,

You may have discussed this with our Warranty department already but please be sure that you have adequate intake ventilation installed that correlates with your exhaust.

Here is our basic directive on intake air.

Depending on your local building code, you may need to either provide 1 square foot of ventilation per 150 sq. feet of attic space or 1 sq. ft. per 300 sq. feet.

Once you determine the square footage of your attic, divide by either 150 or 300 to get the required sq. ft. of ventilation. Divide that by 2 to get the required amounts of intake and exhaust area. You divide by two to follow the 50/50 rule of ventilation which is to provide 50 percent intake and 50 percent exhaust. Use the Net Free Air (NFA) rating of the vents to calculate how many units you will need as intake and exhaust. To convert between sq. ft. and sq. inches divide the sq. ft. by 144.

Intake ventilation is generally vents such as soffit vents along the eaves of the roof. Exhaust ventilation is gable vents, static roof vents such as slant backs and domed vents and wind turbines.

Example using 1/300 rule -

A 1500 sq. ft. attic space would require 5 sq. ft. of ventilation or 2.5 sq. ft. of intake and 2.5 sq. ft. of exhaust. You will need 360 sq. inches of ventilation for intake and 360 sq. inches of exhaust. Intake ventilation such as our Soffit CX64 4" x 16" vent provides 22 sq. inches per piece. You would need 16.3 or 17 pieces of CX64 along the under eave for intake ventilation. Our VX25 Static Vent dome provides 144 sq. inches per unit which would be 2.5 or 3 pieces of VX25 as exhaust ventilation.

I had BAD luck
I live in the Southwest and need this. I purchased one to replace my old fan that had lasted about 10 years. It lasted two days then the motor quit, so I got another, same story, two days later the motor quit. Now I'm getting a more expensive fan from the other guys.... Hope I have better luck with it.

The fan arrived quickly after order was placed. It was easy to install and the temperature dropped 20 deg F after a couple of hours after installation.

1400 CFM GALVANIZED STEEL, ROOF POWER ATTIC VENTILATOR
This is a very good way to vent your attic in the hot months. I set the thermostat to about 95 Deg. it only uses about as much energy as 2 100 watt light bulbs way less expensive then running the AC.

Great Deal
For the money this is a great product, it is not the best on the market but I did not pay a lot for it either. Not sure about some of the reviews for this product complaining of noise. It is a electric fan which will make some noise. When inside you have to concentrate to hear it running ( very quiet ). The reviews complaining about noise may have installed incorrectly.

Good product
I purchased the fan to keep my attic space cooler on hot days. I read the reviews prior to purchase and install and noticed a lot of comments about the fan being noisey. During install I removed the screws from the bracket that attaches the fan to the housing, inserted small pieces of rubber and then re installed the screws. I did this to try to limit the vibration and noise transmission. Noticed during install that the round screen was too large and I was worried about vibration noise so I folded it to make a tighter fit. I am pleased with the fan's performance so far. I can barely hear it run and my upstairs is noticeably cooler

Great Value but nosiy
The installation was quick and easy but the fans have to much of a vibration in them. I purchased two and now regret the purchase. I should have used gable end fans. If you have a high pitched roof you might be able to reduce the noise but lower pitched roofs I would recommend not placing them above living areas (i.e. bedrooms or offices).

What a relief!!
We bought this for our attic in our condominium because our a/c was working too hard. We have central air, but we had to leave it at a very low 65 in order for it to come on enough during the night to keep us cool. Our attic sits above our master bedroom and the hot air would just sit up there and make our bedroom so hot. After installing this ventilator, the relief was almost immediate. Now we can leave our a/c set on 69 at night and it is actually cooler upstairs than downstairs now, and that was never the case. 5 Stars definitely for this product. I wish I could take a picture, but the roof is way to high:) We set the thermostat to 85 degrees, that seems to work best for us. That's the awesome part of it, the ventilator is not always on. The price was unbeatable!!! We had a professional install it for $130.

Excellent Product
This power attic ventilator met all of our expectations. Installation was simple and straight-forward. The motor has sufficient power and in conjunction with the large fan blade and thermostat the unit provides good air flow / hot air exhaust from our attic. We have only had it installed for a week, but could feel an immediate temperature change in the immediate attic area minutes after installing. Have not gone through a full monthly bill cycle yet to assess cost savings on our energy bill, so couldn't give it 5 stars just yet.
