This was my first time sealing a granite countertop and this product worked. The granite no longer absorbs water or has that 'wet concrete' smell when wiped with a wet cloth. I applied the sealer according to the directions and used those black foam brushes with the wooden handles you can get in the paint section. The smell of the sealer was strong so I wore a respirator for working with vapors and only had problems removing the last residue from the second application - I think this was because I didn't buff enough with good quality cloths. I would advise having some 100% cotton, tight weave cloths on hand for removing the excess sealer and buffing. Also, work in small sections so you can concentrate your efforts on doing that section correctly from beginning to end. Porous Plus was worth the money and I would use it again.

I used the product to seal slate tiles on the back vertical wall of my pool. The slate was crumbling but two coats have made the slate water repellant.

My granite vanity top had way more scratches and gouges than it should have. This was recommended and it sure made a difference. While it didn't fill in all the dings, overall the vanity top is much smoother - after 2 applications as recommended. I let it cure for 48 hours. It's easy to apply and while I used a brush, I'd recommend a roller as I can see slight brush strokes in bright light. It recommends a special applicator so check that out before deciding.

Looks good, doesn’t really seal
I used 2 coats over a newly poured Americrete concrete floor. The finish was very nice. It didn’t look like a plastic or resin finish; it left a nice matte concrete looking finish. I was disappointed to see water soak through the finish a couple of weeks later however. This sealer remains porous apparently. That’s not the protection I was seeking for my floor.

The directions say do 2 coats. I strongly disagree. Apply 1 thin coat. Once something is sealed, the second coat does nothing BUT sit on top and make the tile/marble look dull or streaky. Then you must apply small amounts to the streaky area, rub off immediately then polish. Tedious!

Easy to apply. Allowing product to sit for three to five minutes allows for better coverage, but definitely work in small patches and wipe thoroughly after those five minutes to avoid small spots. I used the product on Travertine unhoned, unfilled tile and it seems to be working wonderfully. Color is ever so slightly darker than starting out, but it looks more rich now than chalky beige.

Very easy to use, two coats about three hours apart, using a foam paintbrush. First coat soaked into sandstone plaque (house number on brick mailbox); second coat showed significantly reduced penetration. Expect greatly improved resistance to slush and road salt.

The only choice for travertine shower
It took me quite some research and experimentation to settle on this one. Five years later, our travertine shower looks like on the day one. Water runs off travertine tiles as if they were plastic.

I purchased this sealer because it specifies "resistant to moisture and stains while allowing vapor to escape." Well in my case this so called "sealer" did the complete opposite. The surface I used this product on is completly stained. I spent approximately more then 3k+ dollars because after extensive research, I happened to land on this product which had the most positive feedback . I am extremely agitated, and bothered that they can possibly gurantee a product that does not do what it is guranteed to do. I spent my hard earned money, and honestly thought I can confide in this company to give me the uppermost quality and that I would be completely satisfied. I truly do not recommend it. I give this product a extremely poor rate, and the company as well.

I would not use this product again. On travertine the coverage for a quart was 130 square feet or half of what the manufacturer states. For 900 square feet to apply the recommended 2 coats of sealer cost me over $450.
For applying this sealer the Shur-Line 18" deck and driveway sealer applicator and pole works very well and includes a tray to hold the sealer. This tool is the best way to apply sealers and maximize coverage for the DIY person.
Important to know that 511 Porous Plus is also a grout release so any grout or filler in stone tiles will be released and leave a mess that will need to be softened and then scrapped off later by hand.
