Pretty good system so far.
Over all I'm pleased with how well this wireless system works, I was worried that with a brick home it would have problems getting signals to the base unit but so far its picking up a clean feed 80 to 90 feet away through brick. The only reason i give it 4 star and not 5 is software for cms connect partially working, I get a clean live feed but playback of an event does not work. I have latest versions of android and cms software reinstalled and checked all settings still only plays back events some of the time so mabey they will keep working on software development. Playback on base unit works without problem.

Nice Cameras System Interface Worthless
Unless toure hiring a security guard to monitor cameras for you 24/7, dont waste your money on this. It is a shame as the cameras have great quality 1080p HD picture. System easy to set up and has great tange on WiFi. Problem is the smartphone app Night Owl Connect and iMac app Night Owl CMS are garbage. The phone app will inly show live view in portrait mode. Videos download in AVI so you need conversion software. The CMS software on the iMac will find the system, install it, then NOTHING. The technical support is terrible. I shouldn’t be surprised they’re awful since they respond to reviews and promise to fux the problem abd never do. The reviews on the soffware and app all say the same thing as I’m saying…from YEARS AGO. Buy something else. Check Apple App Store and Google Play reviews before you buy!!! I didnt do that, I looked at reviews of the system itself.

      I had a problem with the hard drive when I first was trying to setup the system. I call support and they were very nice and helpful. They said the hard drive had a problem and sent per paid shipping label. I got the new hard drive in about a week and everything was fine. The camera are very good with good resolution. I would buy again.

      have less than a month, very frustrating software on dvr, called support three different times for technical issues. they do not call back if you choose call back, they take forever to answer if you wait, and they are difficult to understand and do usually solve anything. very disappointing, will probably return. the hardware is good, so 3 stars

          DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA SYSTEM
          DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA SYSTEM. Save yourself a huge amount of stress and headaches and just burn your money instead. It has 4 cameras, but do not expect all 4 to work at the same time, unless they are all mounted within the same room as the "recorder". I can usually get only 3 working at any one time, and the 3 seem to be quite random, Very rarely, I get all 4, but usually only for a few moments, before it drops at least one of them. It's not always the same one either. It could be any or all of the 4, making signal troubleshooting impossible, and not one of my cameras is more than 25 feet from the base. As for "recorder". It will record for about the first month, just about outside the 30 day return period, then it just simply drops the hard drive at intervals, and tells you that the hard drive isn't formatted. You have to check every day. When you do find the hard drive listed in the settings menu, still check that it has actually recorded something, as it certainly isn't guaranteed. Also, once it does lose the hard drive, it is almost impossible to get it back on without completely restoring the system several times. This will take a whole afternoon to do. Mine isn't working even as I write this..again..for the third time this month. The app also fails regularly, if you can find it. Don't even think about contacting customer support. They are not any help, although they do suggest sending the recorder back, but will not give any clue as to how long you will be without the system you have paid good money for. SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS - JUST BURN YOUR MONEY

              Good System
              I just got this cam system and this is my 2nd set of security cams from Nightowl and it is surely great. The only reason i gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the cam hardware design. On my original system an 8 cam wired system the hardware to attach the cam to my home was a better design allowing to position the cam better. The newer design only allows for attaching to the top or the bottom mount. It doesnt swivel like the wired DVR cams did. Frustrating but it is what it is

                The terrible app renders a possibly otherwise good system useless
                First: installation was not simple. Requires connecting to a monitor to go through the setup process (I had to go buy one just for this). Second: It does NOT have a wifi connection to the internet. Only from the cameras to the recorder. The recorder requires a cable connection to your modem to have internet access. I had hoped to hide the recorder somewhere where it wouldn't easily be found by thieves who could then take all of the evidence of their break-in with them, but no, it has to be just as easily accessible as the modem. Third: the app that you download to your phone to review recordings is TERRIBLE. DO NOT buy this system if you will want remote access to video recordings. If you don't believe me, go to their app in the App Store and you will see that over 90% of the reviews are one star reviews. If you read the reviews you will see that the seller almost always replies that the problem has been resolved. Take my word for it, NONE of the problems have been resolved. I know, because I am living with them. That is just their way of trying to negate all of the terrible reviews that they have. You will NOT be able to review recordings remotely as they state that you can. Home Depot should stop selling this system until these problems have truly been fixed.

                  I've had this system for 2 months now and love it. I have even ordered 3 more cameras to add to it. It was easily set up and once I hooked up the wifi it was very easy to put on phone. I went on a 120 mile trip and was able to see the house just like I was there. The cameras show a excellent picture and can hear whats going on around my house. My sister was so impressed, she bought the same system. I love not having to pay monthly subscriptions.                   I have only had this installed and running for a few days. One camera is on a back corner of a city lot and has good signal to the NRV in the front center of the house. I have been getting f fair amount of recordings that have nothing on them, better that than missing something. The events recorded on the NRV are different than the ones you see on the app. I did have a few problems with the set up. Some of the issues were me and some was the system. Customer Service was excellent when called. I don’t think much of the live text. Mike

Make sure you understand the distance between the DVR and farthest camera use the WiFi extension for the most distant camera. It took me 3 hours total time to install, I’m looking to expand for more cameras this system will take up to 8 cameras
