I bought 2 bags. After opening the second bag I noticed the green seed coating was much more vibrant than the first. Well I had zero growth on the first bag. The second bag did very well. This was a lot of time, money, and work for nothing. i am very disappointed to say the least. I contacted Pennington customer service via email. They told me to get a refund I needed to provide the with copies of the UPC code, seed analysis tag, and receipt. If only partial documents are received it will be reviewed on an individual basis. Well I did not keep the empty seed bag so its not worth the effort in my opinion.

The seed came up quickly with excellent percent germination. No weeds in the mix. The grass is doing well, even though it's in an area that gets barely 2 hours of direct sunlight.

Once I got home, I read the label and realized the test date was 1 1/2 years ago. I returned it because I don’t want to buy old seed which doesn’t germinate well. Home Depot needs to get rid of old stock and not try to pass it along to consumers. Or at the very least, lower the price.

It was great came up in less than 5 days. I will never buy Scott again. I bought Scott’s the one with the fertilizer built in and not a single blade of grass came up.

It has taken a while for the grass to come up, but it is growing! Should be to cutting length within a few weeks.

Used this seed in a super shady spot and have some beautiful green grass growing!

Bought in past. This time after a month not one bit of it started to come in. Even put in a special lawn soil and still nothing in that either. Definitely not worth the time and effort.

This grass seed is garbage and a complete disappointment. Planted in perfect conditions, good soil, starter fertilizer, covered with peat moss and kept moist. Weather was warm for germination, and after a couple weeks finally sprouted but no great growth. Reseeded with what I had left with same results. Have always had good luck with fescue and this brand, but this batch is complete garbage and waste of money and time. Just ordered better seed from reliable company. DON’T BUY THIS.

Some spots did not get grass. You can still see the seeds on ground. Been about 3 weeks. I mean large spots.

I am a huge fan of this product but the last couple of bags that I purchased were a HUGE disappointment. Most of the seeds did not germinate. For the price of the product, I have been used to way more germination.

Great product . Grows very fast. A great grade of grass.

I have used Rebels tall fescue before and had good results. The seed sprouts in around a week and lasts all year, though some thinning occurs in the summer and winter. This is the first time I have tried Rebels Shady Lawn mixture. I am very happy with the results. It has been six weeks and my yard looks as good as it ever has. The real test will be to see if it survives the summer heat and drought.

Please keep your receipt and package. All I got was weeds and a large bill to try and fix my lawn. Without the receipt all they would give me was half money back. It will take 2 season to get my lawn back to where it was before I used this seed. Buyer beware.

Bag says "Guaranteed to grow". I should have kept the bags. Let's just say I followed the directions _exactly_ and watered every day. It just plain did NOT grow, AT ALL. I don't know if it matters, but the bags had a date of last September (2022).

I am a huge Pennington seed fan. I have probably purchased 20 bags in the last couple of years. These bags were horrible. Most of the seed did not germinate. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Was contaminated with junk seed looks like rye and weeds!! Can't believe that I put this down on my lawn it ruined it!! Now I have to do a total lawn renovation. Don't want to submit a picture because it is embarrassing!!

I planted around April 10th and the baby grass color seems to be lighter in some areas and darker in some. Also uneven grown is implying some unwanted grassy weed seeds like either Poa Triv and Quack grass. I will be able to identify and confirm it correctly in next few weeks. I should have listened to DIY experts and gone for certified seed. The 0.05% weed seeds can be enough to ruin a TF only lawn.

I'm using this product under my trees and it works.
