As a 35+ year "Tile Mechanic": I know what I am selecting when visiting the Tile Isle at Home Depot! The Permabase 1/2 in. x 3 ft. x 5 ft. Cement Board is just what one would expect from a Quality Tile substraight; Consistent dimension's, Fiberglass mesh (that is not coming lose) Edging that are ready for 2" Mesh & mortar. I use this on Shower walls all the time. Laid horizontally spanning no more than 16" on center, fastening with the Corresponding 1 5/8" screws 10" apart. The board contains no (Wood Fiber/cellulose) and is Mold free. Yet I often will coat these boards with liquid waterproofing just to insure that moisture will not migrate to the outer walls. Scince indicates that: Steamy heated moisture could be drawn to and condense on the colder exterior shell of the house. When used over plywood floors, I always use thin-set and fasteners (Roofing nailer) every 8" on the Squair. Once seamed with Mesh tape and thin-set over the joints, this adds stability to the substraight and I have confidence in my completed Tile instalation. "Quality materials and experienced workmanship" is worth more than Insurance.

A most excellent product. Nice reinforced edges and square. I accomplished my cutting by using a jigsaw on the slowest speed setting with a wood rip blade OR manually with a drywall saw.

Lightweight & easy to use. Highly recommend.

So this product is a little different from what they use to stock but works just as well. I found it easy to cut and install. While we were at the store we didn't have to dig through a bunch of pieces that were broken as usual.

I needed a small section of one sheet, cut out what I needed and it worked just right.

It works great for the right application.

If you have any reservations about this product don't, it cuts with a utility knife perfect for wet conditions and use the proper screws and it was perfect for my tub surrounding
