Q:I have an old school 1x6 diagonal subfloor. I want to use 7/16 OSB over it as underlayment for a vinyl plank floating floor. Should I glue and screw it with 1 1/4 screws or glue and nail with 2 3/8 inch ring shank nails with my nail gun?

The right screw for the job
In the process of remodeling both bathrooms of our 1953 mid century modern home and used Rock-On #9 x 1-5/8 in. Serrated Flat Head Star Drive Cement Board Screws for attaching the Durock cement boards to the framing. The container comes with the T-25 star drive bit for installing the screws and worked perfect with my impact driver to make the install that much easier. The wide head on the screws help prevent pull through on the cement board and the screws are coated to prevent rusting incase moisture gets to the screws.

This product was perfect for my remodeling job, which included tearing out the old backboard and installing new backboard in my shower room. The product was easy to use, well-suited to the purpose, and reasonably priced. Thanks to my local Home Depot staff, I had the right tools and supplies to do my job.
