I like how well it works with fine dust. Though you have to clean it more because of that factor. When I work in someone's house you try to keep the work site clean as possible. And this filter might cost more but it is worth it.

I previously owned the larger size shop vac. It worked well for many years. The 4.5 that I recently purchased works well. However the wheels and the base for them does not fasten to adequately to the base. They continuously fall off. Very frustrating.

The Ridgid HEPA filter, along with a filter bag worked great on my Ridgid Shop Vac to vacuum up construction debris after a project. There was a thick layer of dust in our bedroom due to the construction crew not sectioning the room off. I did not want to spend the time vacuuming up the mess, only to have it shooting out the shop vacuums exhaust. The HEOPA filter and bag kept the debris contained, making clean up quicker and smoother.

It filtered the stuff I was vacuuming. It was great.
