I spend hours using it, so I love that it weighs less than other trimmers I have owned, allowing me to get more done with less back pain. My absolute favorite aspect of this trimmer hands down, is its versatile bonus features! The trimmer head can be removed and you can purchase separate attachments such as an edger head, pole saw, or brush cutter! This makes the functionality of this tool amazing! The pole saw expansion attachment is an awesome must have, allowing you to reach tall limbs, branches and more!

Always starting up instantly, never losing power, always reliable. After purchasing my first home I knew what my first tool (or should I say toy) was going to be. Right out of the box I could tell it was the same quality I have always used. Thank you for making quality tools to keep my families homes looking pristine all year long.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My field trimmer stopped working and I had to clear about 1/4 acre of up to 2 foot tall grass. Purchased the trimmer and ran it for about 6 1/2 hours, only stopping for rest, refueling, and restringing. It is a breeze to start; never had an issue. The restringing is the easiest thing ever, and seems like there will be no more headaches like those with older trimmers I used to own. I was originally going to spend some extra money for a big name commercial type trimmer, but the online reviews pushed me to this purchase. Time will tell regarding longevity, but happy so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wife and I bought this trimmer as a Father's Day gift to replace my dead electric corded trimmer. Everything from assembly to start-up was easier than anticipated, and it worked like a charm. Product came with oil for the gas mix, and string already on the spool (plus spare string). All I had to do was mix some gas and fire it up! I have really enjoyed using it, and will proudly recommend others for this purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a hard time debating whether to go electric or gas, I think either would have worked for what I needed but ended up going gas.

The weed wacker works well at curting and edgeing. The gas tank is small so I had to refill the tank before I completed an average sized yard. It can take multiple attachments which is great for getting different kinds of yard work done fast. If it was the 4 cycle model I would have given it 5 stars for price, features and functionality.

Very powerful

The machine worked wonderful...I got the 8" brush cutting blade...and I'm doing serious clearing with it....works great...I'm pleasantly suprised....

I bought this spring of 2018 and it has gone through perhaps 15 tanks of mix. Where the lower arm fits into the upper arm the (thin cheep soft) metal tubing on the upper arm cracked and failed. It's clearly a design issue. The nearest service center is more than 100 miles away. I wrote it off, and wrote a review here. I was then contacted by Alex from the Ryobi Review Management Team. We discussed the situation, I provided a couple of photographs, and they've made this right - they replaced the failed unit with a new one. In all fairness I could recommend this for someone who maintains a town lot of a quarter acre or less, but with the flimsy design, it's not for me and my 10 acres of brush. I bought a Stihl 311, for $600, and wow, it does the job with ease, but that's 5 times as much money. So my message is make sure you match the tool with the job.

In only 3 months, a gas leak appeared on 1 of the fuel lines. I was referred to home depot for service by the Ryobi's customer service line. To my surprise, they not only denied the warranty but did not request my authorization to charge me $58 dollars to fix it. The reason, the technician claimed the gas leak was due to fuel deposits in the carburetor. The engine had been working perfectly fine and smooth. In summary, they ended up not honoring the warranty but charging me half of the cost of the trimmer. To make things worse, I contacted Ryobi to seek support and expecting they would honor the warranty. The representative, in a very unpleasant tone, just replies that there is nothing they can advise if a charge was incorrect or maintenance related, that home depot directly should deal with me to fix this issue. That is very dishonest and a red flag for this brand and its products!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this today just finished my front yard. Pros: Powerful, Easy Setup, Rugged and the durability is next in a class all it's self. Cons: The weight of it is way heavy for a trimmer, the string it came with is theoretically a good idea but in actuality not so much. With all that said my father still has his and he's been using it for 8+ years. We both have the feelings about it. First go around was a nightmare but just like riding a bike once you got it your gone man lol. So Yes I Recommend this Product

High quality trimmer. Wish they'd make it lighter.

The brand is great for home use. This is the second one I've owned, the previous Ryobi weedeater lasted 8 years and that's why I bought another Ryobi.

This trimmer was fine but after just a bit over two years the engine started immediately dying after starting. While doing some maintenance I went to remove the spark plug cable but the inner wire dislodged from the rubber cable and stayed attached to the plug. Turns out, the wire itself broke further down in the cable. That's pretty hard to fix and I'm extremely unhappy. What a crummy product and it broke just after the warranty period (what a coincidence).

Yes, as I have bought a second one in less than a year. The first one: RYOBI MODEL RY251PH Power Head (Trimmer) #ryobi RYOBI Outdoor Products - This is what happened to this product bought from Home Depot July 2017. Note: It was not use during Winter 2017 so give or take its only 5 months old. I can repair this myself. RYOBI - Please, mail me the Screws.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My last string trimmer was a Ryobi. It lasted 15 yrs. So far this one works great, easy to start, love the .095" trimmer line, bump feed works good too. One day I may try some attachments.

This is what I wrote June 9th: "First time start up took forever to start. Will not idle and have to constantly re-start................would not recommend this Weed-eater. Wasted my money......penny saved a pound foolish"............. Being a carpenter I have many power tools from Ryobi and have been always extremely happy...that is the reason why I bought this trimmer and the low cost. But was hesitant since I have bought from other companies that have diversified going into other products and finding out they should have stuck with what they know... Like Milwaukee making a weed wacker! I do not think so! after talking to Ryobi , we problem solved the Trimmer and discovered there was an air leak in the carburetor. I just happened to get a bad one. They replaced it and the new one works like a charm!! Bought the edger attachment and had plenty of strong power to do a most difficult job! SO YES I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND ITS ATTACHMENTS.... Cost and reliability is a must have!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to assembly, no tools required. Instructions were brief and clear. I filled it with 50:1 premixed fuel. Starting instructions were clear and it started right up. It runs like a Swiss watch and quieter than I expected. It is well balanced and easy to handle. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it has a centrifugal clutch. At idle the head doesn't turn at all, which is a great safety feature. Reloading the string couldn't be any easier. I love it.

Quality product at a very reasonable price. Assembly was easy, no tools required, the instructions were brief and clear. I filled it with Truefuel, which is pre-mixed at 50:1, because I didn't trust the fuel I had left in my gas can. Prime it as instructed, full choke, started on the second pull. Half choke for about 30 seconds before cutting out the choke completely. Ran like a Swiss watch. Smooth and quieter than I expected. Pleasantly surprised to discover the throttle thumb safety and that it is equipped with a centrifugal clutch. At idle the head doesn't spin at all, a great safety feature. I love the kill switch location, right ahead of my thumb. Killed it for kicks and it started on the first pull. Did that a couple of times while wandering around the yard. My wife thinks it is a bit heavy but it is well balanced and she can handle it. Bump feed, works smoothly. I have yet to reload the string but it looks to be incredibly easy to do.
