I've had a Ryobi 18-V 10-inch saw for years and years (this is my third!). They get constant use because we heat our home with wood, and this saw is used to get a lot of that wood. This newest version is a slight disappointment -- it is lighter and wimpy-er than the previous models. Essentially the same model, but the plastic parts are thinner, the housing of the chain is lighter-duty. They have finally gotten the chain-tightening to be easy enough to do out in the field, with a double duty wrench-and-screwdriver combo that is housed right in the handle of the saw. So, not quite as good as it used to be, but it'll do the job.

Bought on Black Friday even though not on sale because we needed to cut down three Christmas trees-worked great and we were the envy of everyone walking around with a hacksaw-battery operated chainsaws are allowed at the tree farm-well worth the price

Stopped working
Cuts great, but stopped working a week after 90 days was up with little use. Now I have to go through ryobi for repair..frustrating.

    Pretty good performer
Used this chainsaw at our mountain property for 3 years and fell over 400 smaller trees. 1) purchase at least (2) 4 amp batteries if you have lots of work. 2) This saw is easier and safer to use than my gas saw when falling smaller diameter trees. 3) Use and refill the manual oiler to protect blade and chain. 4) The one downside I have found is that this saw spins too slow for safe limbing or cutting trunks to length, it bounces a lot. 5) Use quality safety gear. Fair Value.

This saw was pretty much assembled. Just had to read the instructions to make sure i didn't miss a step. Added oil and it was ready to go. Had charged the battery that morning so I was good. This saw made quick work of the limbs from a palm tree that was trimmed. Saw was strong and quick and there were no issues. Cut them up so they easily fit in the green waste bin.

Died after 4 uses, moving to 40v Greenworks
After just 4 uses, and the first 2 were very minor cuts, the chainsaw motor started smoking and stopped working. Very disappointed and will replace it with a 40v Greenworks chainsaw because I happen to have other tools using those batteries. I will try and contact them about a return or replacement since it is under 6 months old but I am not holding my breath. The return process is often too difficult and not worth the time.

For the reason I bought it as a backup if I had no gasoline. It will work, Very light duty,I have a brand new 4 hour battery pack it only lasts a half hour of cutting, The oiler for the chain do you have to push with your thumb to oil, Overall time will tell how long it will actually last.

Hello, Hossburg - Thank you for leaving us this review! Runtime will vary depending on several factors, such as outdoor conditions and the type of wood you're cutting. This chainsaw does feature a push-button oiler for easy chain lubrication and longer chain life. And if you'd like to continue this conversation, please email us anytime at Reviews@RYOBItools.com. Still going strong
Purchased in April of 23, still works really well. Goes through medium thickness fine, enough power but not for heavy jobs. Wish it came with two batteries.

Very nice saw, compact and light it's easy to carry around the yard trimming those tree limbs that you can't cut by hand. Battery lasted longer than I did.

A very light unit that is almost dangerous to use by inexperienced users. The unit was shipped to me with the chain on backwards with no markings as to such. A notice in the instruction book or a label noting this would be helpful. The average user may not know this. I did! Also the units seeps oil when not in use which creates a mess. Unit will not cut easily any twig above 1”. Pros: Unit is light. Battery lasts good. I’m not sure it was a good purchase for the money. My Ryobi 18 volt pole saw works wonders around this saw. It is more like a dangerous toy! I own other saws that work great but I wanted a battery trim saw as I live on 3 acres of wooded property and I thought a battery powered saw would be a good idea to keep on my tractor. Boy was I wrong!
