A Great Little Chainsaw! (Ryobi 18V 10" Chainsaw)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great chainsaw! I used this saw to fell and buck a small-ish oak tree that was beginning to lean towards my house. It was about 10 inches in diameter at the base and about 20 feet tall. This saw laughed at it and handled the job with zero problems. I also had to have an enormous sweetgum professionally taken down that was within 10 feet of my home. The base of the trunk is about 30 inches and it stood around 100 feet tall. I told them to just leave the pieces as I will just split, dry, and then burn in my firepit. But they left the pieces in too large of sections for me to move. So I have to cut them in half. I used this chainsaw on two pieces that were around 17-18 inches in diameter. This saw never bogged down once! It did take awhile to get through each piece and each piece used an entire 4ah battery to complete, but it did the job without overheating or bogging down. (All of the wood in my photos was cut using this 10 inch chainsaw.) It actually performed so well that I just purchased the Ryobi 40V 18 inch Chainsaw to finish the job. Like I said, this is a great little saw. If you have small to mid range jobs, this saw is a great choice. I highly recommend it!

    Great Chainsaw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this chainsaw for 6 weeks and it has worked well. I am cutting downed ash trees for firewood. It is light weight and cuts well. I let oil in the saw and it all leaked into the plastic blade cover. I now drain the saw after every use. I would buy it again.

      Cheap Plastic
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cover broke that supports the backup of the blade for tightening. Plastic piece supporting a metal bar. The screw now doesn't line up with the worm gear and the chain cannot be tightened.

Hello, Davey1234 - We're sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your chainsaw! Will you please email us at Reviews@RYOBItools.com? We'd be happy to provide you with a good solution!
        Far exceeded expectations
I had a few tread I needed to cut down so I decided to take a chance on this since I already had batteries. It took care of this 10” diameter tree no sweat. With one 6ah battery I cut the tree down and cut up all the branches. My only complaint was that the chain had to be tightened a couple of times during the job.

              Oil everywhere
This seems to be a good chainsaw with one major down fall. Second time I used it all the oil leaked in the floor. Will be taking it back to trade it in. Hopefully the second one will not do this. If it does I will get a refund. When I called ryobi they said I well it just does that.!

Hello, Redford - We're sorry to see that you have not been entirely pleased with your chainsaw! Given the nature of chainsaws, it is normal for oil to seep from the saw when not in use. To prevent seepage, empty the oil tank after each use. When storing the unit for a long period of time (three months or longer) be sure the chain is lightly lubricated; this will prevent rust on the chain and bar sprocket. We hope this provides clarity! And please feel free to email us anytime at Reviews@RYOBItools.com if you'd like to continue this conversation. RYOBIOutdoorTools

                Powerful little tool!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to clean up a broken tree after storm. I was able to chop up a 30 ft tall tree with ~9 inch trunk with this tool in less than 3 hours. Very impressed with this power pf this tool. I have two 18V batteries so those helped me keep going with no major breaks for waiting for battery to charge. I have a series of tools from the Ryobi 18V tool range. Very happy with these tools

Plenty of power to cut without the worry of gas.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to have firewood for the firepit so I used the chainsaw to cut up some fallen trees I have on the lot. Had more power than I needed to cut and plenty of battery power left afterwards. Glad I tried it. LOVE these tools so far. More to try after Ryobi days.

                    Everyone was impressed!!
I used this to trim a ton of trees around my house. Even my tree guy was impressed with it. I think it's just the right size and if you really needed more length you can swap the bar and chain out. I also tried out the 40 volt and was not impressed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to limb some very large fir trees in my backyard ahead of a privacy fence install. Worked flawlessly. I got around an hour of constant use before needing to charge.

I really like the compact size and lightweight of the tool. Its excellent for light to medium cutting and trimming. The instructions were simple to understand and there was no assembly required. The only thing is you will have to get a battery and a charger for the saw. The battery charges in about 30 minutes and will last for a couple of hours which should allow you time for small jobs or multiple cuts or trims.

I got this chainsaw back at the start of February but i was so sick from the covid-19 virus that i only felt good enough recently to try it out. This Ryobi chainsaw has a ten inch blade but packs a powerful punch. It is the tool only without a battery but i already own many of their tools and batteries. I did have to purchase chainsaw oil to lube the blade.I had many tree branches that had fallen due to the harsh winter we had but this lightweight tool made easy work of it. To oil the blade you just push a button to pump the oil. Don't leave too much oil in the small tank as it seems to leak out when stored. That might have been my fault though.I also like that it pairs up with all my other cordless tools from Ryobi. Very good choice for light yardwork.

Very impressed with this cordless chsinsaw!! Above my expectations of a battery operated chainsaw! Cut up a live fallen oak tree that was 8 1/2” in diameter. This saw cut up all the branches and cut up the tree with 3 4ah batteries. Wanted to see how well this saw would do on a bigger tree. Boughtbit for the purpose of smaller limbs and trees but after using it on a larger one, im getting this saw out instead of the gas power chainsaw! No starting ot messing with gas and restarting squeeze the triger pump the oil every so often and go!!

This is a surprising little chainsaw. The Ryobi 10 inch chainsaw model P2502 has got quite a bit of horsepower for a battery operated chainsaw. I was able to use any of my 18+ ryobi batteries in it without no problems. Even though this is a brushless one+HP model device I saw no change in performance. My Li-ion 18 volt 5Ah battery never ran out of juice and j was able to complete my sawing of medium sized branches. Be safe and don't forget to wear your safety goggles.

Feel the power to do anything. I ust got this chainsaw to replace another Ryobi chainsaw battery operated too. I can feel the difference in the power delivered by the brushless motor, the time running is more and more cutting can be achieved, the cutting speed is effective and efficient. It is designed to tackle light to medium work around the house, cutting tree limbs to medium logs, or tackle large logs cutting them in several pieces. It’s onboard tool is perfect for continuous work when adjusting the chain no time to waist looking for specific tool size because they already with the chainsaw. It’s Lightweight and well constructed. it’s affordable price makes it one of the key decision to decide to get it. It is necessary to add a lubricant oil for the chain. It is necessary to read the instructions to understand the safety protocol to follow to avoid injuries, easy to store away.

This battery operated 18 volt chainsaw works well. The ten inch bar is long enough to cut up some large branches or small trees. It has a small wrench in the handle for taking off the nut for changing or tightening chain. I used it to cut up a small fir tree it made quick work of it. I did not fill the saw up with bar oil because if you do not use it all up it will seep out and it is suggested to pour it back in bottle when done. This doesn't have an automatic oiler so every few minutes you have to stop the saw and pump the bulb to apply more oil to chain. It is very important to do this it will make the bar last much longer. There is a safety lock on top that you have to press in before you pull the trigger on the saw. The battery I had was still good to go for a while so how long it will last I am not sure. I will mostly be limbing cedar trees around the house and thinning out the bamboo. I think it might make it into the camper for cutting up firewood when were out. replacement chains are available at my local HD 10" PowerCare chain Y40 {.043} SKU # 463039, model # CL14340PC2, Internet # 203555584. This is a very handy saw. It handles well, cuts just great, and so much easier than my old saws! I grew tired of trying to start my old gas chainsaw, so have used a corded electric saw the last few years. It works okay, but I end up with about 500 ft of power cord strung across the pasture to reach the far side of the trees. With this battery powered saw, I can work as long as my energy holds out without problem. I did buy a couple of the 4 hour batteries, just to make sure I won't have to stop before I'm ready. I love this saw!

This is a great home chain saw for light to medium duty work. The tool is relatively inexpensive. It is part of the Ryobi One+ system. The battery and charger are sold separately. I already had the Ryobi charger and 18V 3.0Ah batteries that I use for my other Ryobi 18V tools and they were fully interchangeable with the chain saw. Ryobi recommends the 4.0 Ah battery for optimum performance, but my 3.0 Ah performed well. The motor is brushless and the tool is well built and good quality. The chain saw is small and light weight, about 7 pounds with the battery, but it does have cutting power, is efficient and easy to use for basic landscape purposes. The size and weight also makes it easy transport and to store. The chain lubrication is simple using the push pump on the oil tank cap. While cutting just depress the cap pump every few minutes. The maintenance tool (combined wrench and screwdriver) is stored on the underside of the handle. The saw comes with a blade scabbard for transporting and storage.

The lowest branches on some trees need to be cut off from time-to-time. With hundreds of trees on our property, my new Ryobi 10 inch lightweight cordless chainsaw enables me to do more pruning and trimming is less time than a heavy duty saw with a gasoline engine. When shopping for a cordless chainsaw, it seemed some were inadequate. This saw has a brushless motor, an onboard storage for the wrench, and a conveniently located push-button chain oiler. All of my Ryobi tools use the same batteries so buying this chainsaw priced "tool-only" saves on the cost. I am able to cut for a longer time period since the saw weighs only 10 pounds or perhaps a little over depending on the battery. It is also great to know that it comes with a full 3-year warranty.

Will be useful when we go out to collect firewood. I’ve never used a chainsaw before, and the instructions are a bit intimidating with all the warnings. Had hoped to use it for pruning smallish tree branches about 10 feet above the ground. But the instructions state to never operate the chainsaw from a ladder or above chest high because there is risk of kickback. The chainsaw requires the oil tank to be filled with Bar and Chain Lubricant before starting, so we’ll pick up Ryobi oil. The scabbard doesn’t click into place so it’s easily pulled off. After a lot of use, we would need to learn to file the teeth to sharpen them. With no experience yet, we’d probably take the chain to a professional for sharpening. We are looking forward to getting the experience we need to enjoy this handy chainsaw.

I was excited to receive this Ryobi chainsaw because I own other Ryobi tools and have been very satisfied with their performance and durability. It has an oil indicator window on the forward right hand side of the hand grip. It is childproof; it has a safety switch on the forward top side of the hand grip. The front hand guard does not fold back to stop kickback; it is locked into one position but the bar and chain are designed for low kickback. This chainsaw is suitable for light duty pruning, felling trees no larger than seven inches in diameter. I have tested it out on one of my trees and it was easy to use and did a satisfactory job, making clean cuts. It has a three year warranty.

The Ryobi One Plus 10 inch Chain Saw is sized perfectly for performing light to heavy brush cutting on limbs and twigs that are slightly too large for comfortably removing with a pair of tree shears, but, not large enough (or clear enough) to use a full-size chain saw. An overnight charge for the 4-Ahr Lithium-ion battery and a quick trip to the store for a quart of bar-and-chain oil was all it took to get this compact, light-weight chainsaw ready to cut. I removed a really tough, dead wood stump from my front lawn with this saw in just a few minutes. There was little noise to disturb the neighbors because the brushless electric motor runs very quietly and no oil smoke was visible in the air. A small dead tree at one corner of the front yard will provide the next task for using this power-packed, 10-inch, cordless electric chainsaw.

The New Ryobi 18volt 10 inch Chainsaw This new 10 inch 18 volt chainsaw from Ryobi is a BIG improvement over the previous Ryobi 10 inch 18 volt chainsaw. The first thing you will notice is the battery is located to the side, which turns out to be a better balance point for the saw. Then you immediately will appreciate the location of the lock out switch. It is much easier on your hand to press this switch forward while operating the saw. The original model required you to press a button in with the side of your thumb. Then you come to the actual reason you pulled out a chainsaw it actual cutting power. You will find this new model really does deliver a stronger pull on the cutting chain. That pull being stronger eliminates the saw from "bogging down" as you make the cut. They advertise 85% more power, I will attest to the fact it will cut down on the amount of bogging down experienced with the previous model. If you need to trim trees, cut beams or just "bucking" a few limbs this is the saw to pick up. It does not have the weight or vibration you will find with the gas models. Even if you are going to clear a path in front of your vehicle, this saw will get the job done, in most cases. With the variation in batteries available you can increase your use time to compete with hauling a gas model along in your vehicle.

This chainsaw has a ten-inch bar, which is just the right size for most work around the yard; work such as pruning trees and shrubs with branches that are too big for the lopping shears. It could even be used for removing small trees. With only a ten-inch bar, it is on the small side for firewood cutting projects involving large trees. It is quieter and lighter and easier to handle than any of my larger gasoline powered chainsaws. It is also more convenient in that you can just grab it and go to cutting. No need to mix gas and oil like you do for the little two-stroke gasoline chainsaw engines. No cranking and cranking to get it started after it's been sitting between uses. You do have to add bar and chain oil to keep that part of the machine lubricated, but that is quick and easy. The chain oiler is not automatic. You have to remember to pump the oiler every once in a while to keep the bar and chain lubricated. The oil seems to continually drain onto the chain-sprocket area, which will also help to keep the bar and chain oiled. However it continues draining whether the saw is running or just sitting, which can make a bit of a mess on your workbench or storage area, so you need to empty the oil tank before putting it away. As you might expect, this saw is not quite as powerful as the bigger gasoline powered saws. It takes a little longer to cut through the really large branches than the bigger saws but for most tasks you wouldn't notice the difference. Because of its grab-and-go convenience this is the first saw that I grab for small tasks around the place.

First thing is the chainsaw comes all in, battery and charger included, with one small exception (chain oil). It comes fully assembled just needs that oil to be added, it would be nice if that was included. Since I have another chainsaw not a problem. Once added it is so nice not to have to struggle with starting this. I used for a half hour or more and the battery still had a charge to it. I did NOT detect any loss of power vs a gas one. Now it is only a 10-inch blade and like they clearly state; this is for light work. Do NOT think you will be fallen a towering tree but it made short work of the 5-6” branches I took it to. Now as long as you’ve operated a chainsaw before it is easy to use, no real kick at all. If you haven’t operated one before watch a YouTube video or 2, it’s not rocket science and this is a great starter one. I have a full-size gas-powered chainsaw (by a competitor) but it’s not the easiest to start so I wanted a smaller battery chainsaw for the smaller quicker jobs. RYOBI pulled through once again. To be completely honest, I am a RYOBI fan. I have numerous tools from them but there’s a reason for that; they build equipment that fits my needs and I think they usually put out quality products. Now back to this chainsaw. Overall, I am very happy with this chainsaw. If you are reading this review and you are shopping for a good quality, well built, sturdy and easy to use small chainsaw, this one is my suggestion. Without hesitation I say it fits all my needs and expectations. WELL done RYOBI!!!!

This is a good chainsaw, it lost 2 stars from me because it lacks features that I am accustomed too from other chainsaws, tool free tensioning , chain brake, and an automatic oiling system. This has a hand guard, but it is stationary so it does not operate as a chain brake. I used this chainsaw on downed branches and limbs and performance wise it worked great, it made the cuts as expected. I avoided having the nose come in contact with the branches to reduce kickback. Another issue I have is the that the handle does not offer much traction and felt slick, so I had to be cautious of imy hands slipping. I felt that this is a good size, nice and compact and light so I can stash in my vehicle for emergencies. This has a safety lock which you operate with your thimb, if you depress the trigger halfway, then the same will shut-off but it will not lock, so you can make another cut without having to unlock it with your thumb. This comes with a compact charger, I like the size as it takes up very little space. This comes with a great manual, most tool manuals seem like a waste, as they do not include much information. The manual for this chainsaw is very informative Suggestions : Tool free tensioning, hand guard/ chain brake, automatic oiler, a fuel Gauge near the handle so you can easily see how much battery life you have left, an LED (chainsaws are great for post storm cleanups and a lot of times, there is a a power outage, not having to worry about finding a light so you can remove debris is a good thing).

This chainsaw has a ten-inch bar, which is just the right size for most work around the yard; work such as pruning trees and shrubs that are too big for the lopping shears. It could even be used for removing small trees. We have burned firewood for heat for the last 26 years and I have cut all of that wood myself, which is to say that I have cut many, many, cords of firewood. I have three chainsaws that I have used for that work, with bar lengths of 16, 20, and 28 inches. All are gasoline powered, so I was interested to see how this electric/battery powered saw would compare. Firstly it is quieter and lighter and easier to handle than any of my other chainsaws. It is also more convenient in that you can just grab it and go to cutting. No mixing gas and oil like for the little two-stroke engines. No cranking and cranking to get it started after it's been sitting between uses. You do have to add bar and chain oil to keep that part of the machine lubricated, but that is quick and easy. The chain oiler is not automatic as it is on my other saws. You have to remember to pump the oiler every once in a while to keep the bar and chain lubricated. The oiler pump button is located on the top of the saw, just far enough away from the trigger so that I have to release the trigger to pump the oiler. I find that it works well for me to simply pump the oiler a couple of times after each cut. The oil seems to continually drain onto the chain-sprocket area, which should help to keep the bar and chain oiled as well. However it continues draining whether the saw is running or just sitting, which can make a bit of a mess on your workbench or storage area, so you will want to empty the oil reservoir before putting it away, which is a bit of a nuisance and seems wasteful. This saw does not have a chain brake to stop the chain motion in a kickback situation, so you will want to be extra careful to avoid situations that could result in kickback. With my gasoline powered chainsaws, the sound of the engine idling is a constant reminder that the saw is ready to cut at a touch of the trigger. This saw is totally silent until you touch the trigger. If you are accustomed to working with gasoline powered saws, this silence could be dangerous unless you can remember to keep your finger away from the trigger grip when you are not ready to cut. As you might expect, this saw is not as powerful as my bigger gasoline powered saws. It takes a little longer to cut through the really large branches than the bigger saws but for most tasks you wouldn't notice the difference. Because of its grab-and-go convenience this is the first saw that I grab for small tasks around the place. Finally, chainsaws are inherently one of the more dangerous powered hand tools available to home owners. The owner's manual spends a lot of space on safety precautions, but there is one precaution that I didn't see in the manual, but which I think is important: Buy a pair of chainsaw chaps and wear them. Mine have saved me from serious injury several times over the years.

Ryobi One + 10 Inch 18-Volt Chainsaw This chainsaw is a blessing for an older person like myself, it’s lightweight and easy to carry. No flammable gas cans to worry about. Having used an older Ryobi chainsaw for many years replacing it with this “brushless” model was a no brainer. I carry the battery chainsaw in my motor home and have cut firewood for campfires and never had a failure to cut what I needed. These lightweight products are great for small projects around the house. These are not gas powered chainsaws, they won’t cut a winters’ worth of firewood, but they will cleanup small projects quite well. No matter what you’re cutting; Safety First! Gloves and safety glass should be worn. This unit comes with the 18V battery and charger all for a very reasonable price. Ryobi is my number once choice for cordless products. Be sure to read the instructions if you’ve never used cordless products before, cleaning & using the recommended oil is a must for proper care.
