Waste of time....
We tried this product to squeeze a few more seasons out of the counter tops at our summer place. They were an awful blue, but otherwise in decent condition. We sanded, cleaned with TSP and followed the directions to the letter. Do NOT attempt to reapply with an hour or even 24 as the label states!!! First tried to touch up thin areas within the hour time frame but the paint just lifted off. So we waited until the next day to apply the touch ups. Left it to cure for 2 weeks (weekend place) and upon returning we could see EVERY touch up and roller stroke. It stains with water, chips off easily and even had a ring left from a warm plate of pancakes! Do NOT waste your time or money!!!

That's odd. We recommend avoiding excessive brushing or rolling during application and using light strokes to ensure an even coat and smooth finish. It is also important to recoat the entire surface within one hour or after 24 hours as opposed to touching up spots in between this time period. Please call us at 877-385-8155 to discuss further and give us a chance to try to make things right. Rustoleum

Looked nice until you try to use it.
I was looking to freshen up our laminate countertops with a new surface and color. I did multiple applications and let it dry for over 7 days. At that point I had left a 5 pound container sit on the countertop over night and when I moved it there was marking molded into the countertop. It looks like I didn't let it set at all but it had been completely free to dry for over a week. Now I have to completely refinish the countertops AGAIN! A complete waste of time, money and work. I do not recommend.

Ryan, it sounds to us as though too many coats of Countertop Coating were applied or they were applied too quickly. This will cause the product to not fully cure. We recommend applying more than one coat only when applying over contrasting colors that may show through the first coat. Recoating should occur before 1 hour of the first application or after 24 hours. Please call us at 877-385-8155 to discuss further. Rustoleum

AWESOME Paint!
Kitchen has 2 separate WHITE counters, one in great shape the other with chips and cracks; filled those with laminate floor putty kit first sanding between layers, use tackcloth after each sanding. Last layer we used a super glue as filler for the very last fill in. The secret to getting a beautiful counter is simple. Degrease, sand lightly with 100 grit sandpaper. Repair any chips or cracks as per above. Use painter's tape to protect sink, stove sides, backsplash etc. Use a DENSE white foam with small roller, plan to discard. A small tip brush is handy for small areas, plan to discard. A must are several small sea sponges, rinse with water and let dry BEFORE using, you will also discard. First OPEN ALL WINDOWS, use no fan. The odor will dissipate a little more every days. If you are sensitive to odors, wear a mask. Wear a shower cap to keep loose hairs from falling into the wet paint, if you have pets, remove pet hairs with a sticky roller on your shirt. First coat, roller on and let dry 24 hours, painting at the back, working to front edge, working L to R ( or R to L if that works for you ) Day 2: LIGHTLY SAND ( means NO pressure when sanding ) with fine grit sand paper. Tack off with lint free cloth. Stir paint well and pour a little paint into a small disposable dish, plate etc. The paint should not be deep just enough to cover half of the bottom of tray. Next, dip sea sponge into paint lightly, you don't want the paint dripping off the sponge if you got too much blot it a little on the tray or paper towel. Start at the back as before and sponge over the top of the first coat. The 2nd coat will not take as long nor will it take much paint. Don't worry about the texture, just dab sponge just enough so the texture looks pretty even. Let dry. The texture will flatten out somewhat when dry. Let dry a third day before using. I use felt protectors on bottoms of anything sitting on it and also chopping block. Use no scour pad, just a damp rag. I also wipe spills when they happen. Before I used this Rustoleum counter top paint, i had tried artist paints and applied clear poly but that didn't last even a week. I love this stuff so much SO impressed with it, ( epoxy is rubbery ) that i'm going to use it again in bathrooms. What i learned about this Rustoleum for Counters, not even dried coffee or tomato sauce stained! Also it seems very water resistant. The Rustoleum and other supplies were less than $30 instead of $500 or more to replace the counter. I got a big drip on my sink could not scrub that off but Citristrip removed it, made my sink shine too.y.

Easy countertop facelift
I painted my countertops black using the countertop paint almost 3 years ago. The process itself was fairly easy, though smelly (don't do this project unless you can open windows). I did my counters in sections because of the long cure time. After it cured, I put a coat of Minwax clear Polyacrylic over it to increase the shine (I like glossy countertops) and durability. I noticed that after I used the Polyacrylic, the finish was much harder than it had been. After 3 years, I am noticing a few chips along the edge, but I can't complain about how it has held up. For $20, my stained countertops got a whole new look, and I've been very happy with the results.

Great Product
My elderly aunts kitchen really needed a facelift but she couldn't pay to have it done. We decided to do it for her but coudn't really spare the money to have a professional redo. We opted to try the Rustoleum cabinet transformations, and counter top paint. Worked great not sure what others are complaining about, maybe not doing prep work.

An inexpensive alternative
I chose to do a facelift of my kitchen cabinets instead of replacement. This product gave good results at a much more acceptable price range than replacement

Good product if you have rental property
I have laminate countertops that are in good shape, but needed a new color. I thought this product would be a cheap way to give my kitchen a new look. After following the directions carefully, I'm not that impressed. I'm left with roller streaks all over the countertop. When there's dim light, the counter looks fine, but once I turn on the under-cabinet lights, you can really see the roller streaks. I recommend this product if have a rental property, painting the counter in the kids room or other area that's not too important. If you're going to use this product, try it with an air sprayer. The paint itself seems to be very durable.

The countertop coating works fine, but it is too expensive, if there is relatively smaller size would be better.

Used this to cover a laminate countertop. I had it tinted with Earth and was covering a blue counter, it was covered in one coat. It did smell though, you need to be able to open windows to air everything out.

Colors extremely inaccurate
Rustoleum needs to check their color data, clearly something failed in the color accuracy process and it needs to get fixed because these tints are so stupidly inaccurate, the disclaimer shouldn't cover them. The home depot employee helped to get it closer but she had to add brown and 4x the black to match it. The smell really is too much too. Even after that the quality of this stuff isn't very good.

    Not durable
Easy to use but not durable. Chips and scratches easily. Not worth your time.

This is not what we expect to hear! In ideal conditions, Rust-Oleum Specialty Countertop Coating fully cures after 3 days. Heavier coats or poor air circulation can extend this time. Care needs to be taken to avoid scratching or abrading the surface prior to curing. It is also essential that the surface is thoroughly cleaned and sanded as directed to ensure full adhesion.

There are no samples for this product and the actual color is so much darker than the picture on the can. I can’t use it and it’s non returnable. You should have samples. I’m disappointed

This product is excellent. It is easy to use and very durable once applied. The fumes are strong, but with some venting it is manageable and the pay off is worth the fumes. I have been using this product for a while now and have never been disappointed in it. The only negative I can think of is that there is rarely any in the store. A larger stock would be great.

This paint is awful. Horrible smell, lasting days. It applies poorly, and takes multiple coats. The first coat self leveled well but was blotchy in coverage. The second coat did not self level in the slightest, leaving roller marks and clots. It looks horrible. And now I have ruined laminate that must be replaced.

The results are amazing. The fumes are toxic so wear a good mask and ventilate as much as possible, It takes a couple days for the smell to subside but it's well worth it. It took my 1980 laminate counter into this century!!!

I used this paint to redo my countertops, and it worked great! It does have a very strong odor, so I would suggest that the area you are painting can be ventilated until the odor subsides. Great coverage & color options!
