SHAKE WELL
When I first sprayed the fixture I did NOT shake the can well enough. I’m really upset about it because I had to sand it down and reprime it. I shook it for about 5 minutes so I assumed that would be good but I would recommend spray testing before using on your actual project. The second light (smaller vanity light) turned out perfect and smooth. I guess I shook it better the second time I used the same can. One can was used on these two fixtures and I still have over half a can left!

    Cloggs up the nozzles.
I had a can of this spray primer for a while and I do all the recommended steps. Shake for at least 1 minute (my personal minimum is 3 minutes), I clean the nozzle between uses. Still clogs the nozzles. I had a can of Automotive primer (gray in color) that I used up but the nozzle was still good. Tried it on this can and it did the same thing after about 3 minutes of spraying. The picture I attached has the gray and white primer on the nozzle. I also wish Rust-o-leum sold replacement nozzles.

      Priming metal surfaces before painting
I am no DIY expert but, it has recently become a hobby. I found that this product made my final color stand out and adhere very well to the table I was refurbishing.

Its hard to judge this product, it is probably the most durable primer for metal, however in the wrong hands it can run easily as a few members reported. With that said I had a professional sprayer coat two fenders and a hood and not one drip, so this is the correct product in the right hands. If your not used to spraying and spraying something ( especially vertically) where the finish is of great significance like a car, I wouldn't take on the task yourself, get someone with experience as it is extremely difficult to sand off, which is a good thing. If this is for a mailbox or so, than have at it.

This primer worked really great on my wrought iron railings. I striped them down to bare metal with my angle grinder and sprayed this on the next morning. About 15 mins later I went into two coats of satin Canyon Black paint. Everything bonded really well and I am pleased with the results. I will note when spray painting, you need to cover any area you dont want paint on. I found that especially true with this primer. It 'travelled' further than the black paint. Can has good coverage, thick coat. Both railings took 3 cans/coat.

        Great spray paint
The coverage of the white primer applied well on both bare metal and previous painted prepared surfaces.

The can is full and won’t spray. Nozzles are clear. Almost as if there is no pressure. Will be returning to store.

Oh no, this is never what we expect to hear. It sounds like your can of Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Primer has clogged in the dip tube on the inside of the can. This is what gives that depressurized feel. Can you please give us a call at (800) 481-4785, and we would be more than happy to assist you further?

I used the spray can as a follow up to an epoxy primer that I had previously applied. This particular primer worked very well, wet sanded easily, and applied simple for a rattle can.

        Drips, minimal coverage
I bought this and a premium brand and there is a stark difference in the outcome. Spend the extra few bucks and get the nicer option, this drips and isnt full coverage

Beware - paint take 7-10 days to dry!!!!!!
After a horrible experience with this paint I came back and read the questions. Rustoleum rep first says this paint take 48 hours to dry. Then reading more they then say 7-10 DAYS to dry. This is some sort of "green" crap paint. There is no mention on label of these extreme drying times. Who would ever even think about making a product that take 7 DAYS to dry. If you try and sand it it is still wet underneath. The rustoleum rep even mentions this. Now after wasting 6 hours on what I was painting I have to take it to get completely sandblasted clean and start over.

Hmm, something seems wrong here. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Primer dries to the touch in 15–30 minutes and to handle in 1–2 hours. There are a couple factors that can extend drying times, like heavy application or grease/grime on the surface. To prevent this we recommend thoroughly cleaning the surface using a degreasing detergent and applying 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart.

Worst P{rimer I have ever used
This take 4-5 hours to dry. It is near impossible to sand. Not compatible with Automotive paints. Seriously worst paint I ever purchased.
