50% filler and the rest weeds
This is one of the worst seeds I have ever used. It’s 51% filler (the coating/fertilizer is all market fluff and allows them to sell diluted product) and the rest is comprised of weed seeds. This blend was laden with weed seeds that took an entire season to get rid of. And then when summer hits, it immediately dies/goes dormant. DO NOT buy from Scott’s. They are an awful company.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Pacific Northwest Mix and appreciate your feedback.

It is normal to have some weeds germinate when seeding, as there are approximately 10,000 weed seeds per 1 cubic foot of native soil. Soil preparation that is done when seeding brings these weed seeds to the surface. All Scotts seed is thoroughly cleaned and is 99.9% weed seed free and The Scotts Advantage states weeds are removed from our crops by filtering Scotts seed 3 times. Weed seeds can be blown or carried into the area prior to the seed becoming established. Soil amendments such as manure and straw often contain weed seeds.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 877-220-3089 if we can further assist. Scotts

Do not recommend. Do your research
I previously left a 4 star review about a month after I used this product as the seeds germinated quickly and looked amazing at first. But now, several months later my lawn looks horrible. This seed contains more weeds than it does grass and the product is not consistent as I used the same exact seed but from 2 different stores and my lawn looks like it has two different seed mixtures. I spend an hour pulling piles of weeds each time before I mow. Weeds I didnt have before. Get something better.

It took little while but the grass started to come up after two weeks. Now waiting for it to be full grown to see how thick or green it would be.

Germinated in less than a week
Worked like a charm. Had about 1600 square feet of weeds. Removed the weeds, killed and pulled the thatch and then bought the Ryobi rototiller and broke down the dirt about 3 inches deep. Mixed in a 3 way compost, sand, and soil mix (about a 1/4 inch). Spread some fertilizer and a bit of lime and rototilled to mix it in. Raked it flat leveled it with a homemade dirt leveler and then ran a water roller over it. spread the seed and gave it a light rake to cover. If you're not prepping the soil, keeping it moist (I use a timer hose), and know the climate in your region, you won't have much luck germinating any brand or type of seed. I suspect the majority of the negative reviews aren't doing these things based on their simple explanations or referencing how well the followed the directions. You don't deserve a refund for not doing the work. You can't buy a plant and then return it when you kill it. Get real.
