Simple and Easy to Use Multifunctional Battery Charger
The Stanley Portable battery charger is a great addition to my garage and workshop. Extremely capable this easy to use charger can be a life saver if you have anything with a battery that sits idle for long periods of time (like my RV). My first use for it was to recharge my car battery and it worked like a champ; I hooked it up to read the battery voltage (which was very low) and after a few minutes it automatically went into charging mode. That is another thing: it senses if you have the jumpers hooked up wrong and give you a warning sound and icon; add to this that it has the tech so that if jumpers touch they do not spark. It is great that it has the tech to charge and then go automatically into float mode. It also has the ability to recondition batteries; I have not used this yet but will for my RV batteries and it can also check the status of your alternator. The Engine start feature is also a great addition, especially on those days when you simply forgot to turn your headlights off. The charger is well built and sturdy yet portable, providing easy storage for the power cord and jumpers so you do not have things dangling all over. The display is easy to read and understand and the controls are too. All you need to be able to use this is a power source to plug it into. Overall this is highly recommended and will be in my RV travel box, when not living in my garage!

Nice Size! Easy to Carry! Works!
Stanley provides another winner for me with this battery charger charger. I like the size and weight of it which makes it easy to carry and easy to store. The best part is that it provides peace of mind if one of my car batteries goes dead. I tested it out at work and we had a battery go dead. When jumping the vehicle it did a countdown to prep itself for a boost. Once we got the car started we took the battery out and charged it. The charging took almost 5hrs. Overall, if you dont have one of these I think its a must have for every car owner. It provides a great sense of security and it is incredibly easy to use. This makes it a no brainer to RECOMMEND it.

Nice battery charger
Stanley 15 Amp Portable Car Battery Charger with 40 Amp Engine Start and Alternator Check. This is a nice battery charger. It is very light weight. I'm unsure of why it's portable, it's still corded. Very easy to use, and understand the functions. As a mechanic my self I was a little skeptical but I tested the output of the alternator along with this battery charger and it's accurate.

Works very well, sturdy housing, excellent cord storage
This charger starts by showing the battery voltage before the charge button is pressed and then shows the amperage being delivered. As the battery charges the amount of amperes decreases. The "gas gage" style helps understand the charge status but the battery icon and displaying FLO (for float charge) when charged are unambiguous indications of when battery is charged. The housing has very convenient metal handles that were helpful when I was carrying the charger and an extension cord and needed to open doors because I could hold the charger with only a couple of fingers instead of cradeling the charger. The housing is stout plastic. I expect this housing to take impacts well. A cooling fan runs when powered on, which is nice for hot days or times when device is in sun. No vent holes on top, which tends to make device more moisture resistant to rain and snow (or spilled drinks) than my old charger. The clamps have stiff springs and sharp teeth to help ensure good electrical contact. Cord storage is excellent. The power cord easily tucks into a recess in the back to keep that cord out of the way not tangled with the charging cables. The charging cables wrap around the housing in a recess and the camps clamp onto protrusions to keep them and charging cord organized.

Better than my older one
This battery charger from Stanley tools is much better than the charger that I have had in the past.. This charger allows you to store the cord inside and the jumper cables secure to the sides securely. I like the control panel since it will tell you the status of your battery. It even allow you to recondition the battery and will tell you if the battery is bad. The unit will not spark if you crisscross the cables. The unit vents out of the sides when you are charging.

Great Battery Charger
I have had this for a few weeks and hooked it up to my truck to check out the functions. As a standard battery charger it works very well. I also used it to check my alternator which was also easy. The battery recondition feature is a great feature but I have not tried it. Battery chargers have changed a lot since I last bought one and I am glad I have upgraded to this one.

Smart battery charger (for 12V lead-acid batteries flooded or AGM types) that won't destroy a battery if left connected.
Easy to use, no set up or programming. Just connect the battery clips, plug it in and push the charge button. It uses a 3 stage charge strategy; that is it puts current in at a high rate until a voltage is reached, then switches to a fixed voltage, (current will drop) to top it off then switches to a lower voltage or float charge. The 2 pin AC power cord (about 5' long) stores in a pocket in the back. The DC leads/clips (about 6' long) wrap up in a slot in the base and the clips attach to plastic blocks on the case for compact storage. It weighs about 5 pounds. There are a pair of legs on the bottom, they make the LCD display easier to read if placed below your line of sight and small internal fan that activates in higher current output modes. It has a couple of other functions/modes that I have needed or tested yet. They are described in the manual as follows: Battery reconditioning; this applies small pulses designed to break up the lead sulfate crystals that form in the battery over time. Alternator Test; checks the ability of the alternator to maintain heaver electrical loads. Vehicles with "smart charging systems" may interfere with this test. Engine Start; applies a rapid surface charge to the battery and starts a 90 second count down timer to indicate when to crank the vehicle. It may get warm doing this and will require a cool down period.

Hi-Tech Charger
The Stanley BC15BS battery charger has come a long way since the simple battery charger with an analog ammeter. It has a digital display with shows battery voltage, charging rate, battery condition and checks alternator operation. It has a compact design and is lightweight considering the power output it produces. It has an internal cooling fan which I'm guessing helps to keep cool during higher power output.

Easy to Use and Works Great
This 12-volt battery charger is fully automatic and very easy to use. I use it on my 1996 car that is not driven much, and for keeping my lawn tractor battery topped-off. It has a nice six-foot long power cord and a six-foot long 12-volt cable that allows me to use it without an extension cord. When I began charging my car battery it started at 14.9 amp rate. It automatically reduces the rate as the battery becomes fully charged. It then switches to a maintainer setting and displays FLO (for float), and the gauge points to Full to indicate the battery is fully charged. It has some other useful features - but I have not had the the need to use them yet. They are: Alternator Check - to evaluate if the alternator is working properly; Engine Start - to start the vehicle if the battery is weak or dead; and Battery Recondition - to break up crystalline lead sulfate. I am satisfied with quality and performance of this product.

Awesome Battery Charger
Maybe it is because I haven’t purchased a battery charger in many years, but this Stanley 15-Amp Battery Charger is awesome! Stanley thought of everything; the cables are nice and long, there is a place to store/hold the battery clips, a backlit charge indicator and volt meter and even a place (hole) to store the power cable. I have only used the Stanley battery charger to charge the battery for my lawn mower and it worked flawlessly. I like the battery recondition, the 40A Engine Start and the alternator check features, but I have not had the need to use or test these features. The only thing I don't like is that there is no on/off switch on the unit. The manual is clear and easy to understand. At this point, I would recommend the Stanley 15-Amp Portable Car Battery Charger to others.

Nice Battery Charger
Lots of features, many more than the old one it replaces. This thing is a must on the farm. I really like the Stanley’s design which deals rather nicely with storing the charger cables and the power cord when not in use. Controls are simply labelled using easily understood terms. Just in case, there is a plasticized info card that succinctly explains everything. I wish I would have left that card fastened to the charger. Otherwise, I am in a good state with my truck and tractor batteries, so I didn’t get a chance to check how the battery charging or engine starting features worked. I did hook it up to an old battery that was once connected to some solar panels and was so dead that the charger didn’t recognize it. I was able to assess my relatively new tractor battery’s voltage (12.6) and the tractor’s alternator (good). The display looks faint in my photos for some reason but it is not and is actually very easy to read. The indicator confirms when the charger cables are connected to the battery so blindly fiddling with the alligator clamps is a thing of the past. It either is or it isn’t.

great for multiple vehicles
Having tractors and RTVs and mowers, cars and trucks this is a much-needed device. Has LCD to show you what's going on one button for charging Lets you know that the leads are attached correctly features reconditioning option to get a few more years out of your battery. This also has alternator check; voltage check and engine start. The plug for charger fits nicely in the bottom The cable clamps wrap around case and have holders on each side.

Very helpful device
The Stanley 15 Amp portable battery charger is going to be a helpful tool! I don’t have any battery issues at the moment, but reading through the booklet makes me think I will be happy to have this on hand when I do. I try not to let the car run down, but it has happened. I know I have left the dome light on and you probably have too. It is so darn inconvenient to find a jump or to have to rely on a shop to fix the problem. I have had a dead battery to deal with when pulling out the mower after the winter, even though I remove it and keep it in the basement during the cold months. From what I can see, you don’t want to let the batteries get to absolute zero to use this device. I think I will juice the mower battery every few weeks to avoid that problem. But so nice not to have to take a battery somewhere!! I do not know much about battery reconditioning, but that is an interesting concept to learn about. I like how many features it has - like the ability to see if the alternator is at fault. Easy to understand, good displays, automatic. Thanks, Stanley!

No assembly required.
This unit is ready to plug in and use right out of the box. It has a simple set of controls and a display screen that shows what is going on. It features: Charging (obviously) - deep charge and maintenance mode. Battery reconditioning Voltage reading (which can be seen during charging also) Alternator check (with and without load) 40A engine start The 12 Volt cable clips have a place where they can attach to the sides of the unit to keep them isolated from items that could conduct electricity. Their 6’ long cable wraps around the unit. The AC power cable is also 6’ long and has a storage place in the back. It is easy to push the power cable back in there too. The system checks that the ambient temperature is appropriate for charging and automatically switches to battery maintenance mode when the battery is fully charged. The display indicates FLO when this stage is reached, which apparently stands for “float” - but I think it would be more useful if it told people “Charged”, or “Maintenance mode” The engine start function has a 90 second countdown, presumably it uses that time to store enough power to be able to release it over 5 seconds of engine cranking. There are two fold-out feet on the underside which helps to angle the unit upwards a bit for better viewing. Everything is packaged up in a rugged looking plastic case with imposing looking grab handles on the front. The unit is rated as 15A which is the highest load you want to put onto a regular 120V AC outlet Made in Vietnam 1 year warranty

For Starting and Battery Maintenance
Easy to use and handy to have available for charging and maintaining 12-volt batteries. Useful features include one-touch 3-stage battery charging, engine starting, alternator testing by measuring battery voltage under load, battery reconditioning, reverse polarity protection. LCD screen shows status while charging is in progress. Operation requires plug-in connection to 110 volt power source. My sample was received during mild weather and started the engine OK. A more rigorous test will have to wait for a cold winter day. Automatic 3-stage charging is a mixed blessing: useful for maintenance but not functional if the battery charge is too low to be sensed by the charger circuitry. A minimum of 4 volts is required for sensing by this charger. Reconditioning can sometimes extend the useful life of an older lead-acid battery that requires frequent recharging. As a battery ages, lead sulfate deposits accumulate and cause internal leakage and poor charge retention. Reconditioning sends a series of electrical pulses to break up lead sulfate and restore useful electrolyte. The process stops automatically after 24 hours. I did not test reconditioning because my battery is in good condition. One year manufacturer’s warranty for home use excludes the significant cost of shipping the defective product to a repair location. My sample was made in Vietnam.

Excellent features
We decided to get this for our lawn equipment. Even though it's mostly new, the batteries aren't much good when the snow season hits. The start setting kicks out 40 amps of power quick. The reconditioning setting is awesome for slow charging. The alternator setting reads what your alternator is doing, output voltage. I'll probably order another one for our motorcycle battery over the winter. So far I'm truly happy with this charger.

    Fault codes are not attached
I gave this a low rating because every time I want to see the fault code I have to go online. This takes time. The should be attached permanently. Sticker or card. Works good otherwise. Because of this I may not buy another one.
