It is small and easy to carry in your pocket yet it is long enough to measure a lot of stuff

This is a nice, compact tape measure. I use it in my woodworking shop, where I seldom need even a 9’ measure. I bought it because it was small and because it has a built-in magnet, thinking it would be very convenient to have this stuck to a piece of machinery and readily available. Of course, these features wouldn’t mean anything if the tape measure wasn’t accurate. First, I checked it in the store against a ruler from their display as best I could, and it seemed right on. When I got it home, I checked it very carefully against a steel ruler that I use to check all my measuring instruments. Because of the movable tang (for inside and outside measurements), I’m always leery about tape measures. This one, I’m pleased to report, proved as accurate as anything else in my shop. I’ve only had it a short time, but it is very convenient having it on my drill press. As time goes on, I may get one for each of my other big tools. Highly recommended.

A standard..buy always could be improved on..there should be a protective tape on the 1st 4 '..the most used. Common failure of all tapes. If it's a Fat Max, then build it right!..oh yeah, still damm heavy..Overall, still the best...

This is a handy tape measure because it has a magnetic back. I stick it to the refrigerator door along with other essentials like a bottle opener and a utility knife. The tape measure measures up to 9 feet which is good. It is also really inexpensive. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn’t include metric units. I’m originally from Britain and after visiting Europe last time I was determined to convert to metric even if the rest of the US isn’t because it makes more sense to me.

I tend to have an issue with misplacing my tape measure. I'm excited about this convenient size tape having a magnetic plate that allows me to stick it to my refrigerator or my tool box, wherever i have a metal surface. This is a small unit and it is only 9 ft so if you need a longer tape it may not work for you but for things around the house and most of my smaller projects it is perfect. I have only had this tape for a couple of weeks but I am a big fan of Dewalt products so I'm comfortable that the unit will last for a long time.

BACKGROUND: I carried a folding carpenter's ruler for a while but didn't like the size and inconvenience using it. I wanted something that would fit in my pocket for general use. I like DeWalt and have two of their bigger tape measures so I thought I'd try out the 9' magnetic tape. NOTE: This is essentially a pocket sized tape measure. If you are hoping for a 9 foot standout with an oversized hook end this isn't it. FIT & FINISH: I like the compact size of this tape. Slips in my pocket nicely and doesn't create an uncomfortable bulge. The case seems rugged enough for a small tape. The tape extends and retracts well. This tape features both a belt clip and a magnet. The belt clip doesn't grab my belt as tightly as I'd prefer, in fact it is rather loose, so I won't normally carry it that way.The magnet is handy when I'm working at a metal table because I can slap it on the side out of the way of the work surface and without the hassle of hooking it on my belt or putting it back in my pocket. SUMMARY: This is working perfectly for my particular needs. Small, sturdy, and easy to use. If you are looking for a pocket tape measure this may be what you want. PROS: Small Easy to use CONS: Belt clip is too loose for a standard thickness leather belt.

I ordered the tape measure described as a 9 foot magnetic tape. That is was, but they forgot to describe as miniature. The body of the tape measure is two inches wide / tall, and three quarters an inch thick. I assumed it was a magnetic tape end not a magnetic on the back to mount to metal cabinet. It is small but the markings on tape is also very small on the half inch wide blade. It does have a Dewalt life time warranty. See photos below.

After having a 16' Fat Max break at the 3rd rivet, two months ago, I bought another one. I like the size, shape, and blade. The replacement just broke at the exact same place. The Stanley warranty states that they will not cover the tape if you allow the blade to recoil too quickly. It's a tape measure! I have a Stanley 25', that is over 30 years old. The blade is fine. If the blade slams back too hard/fast, perhaps they should reinforce the blade at that point, or weaken the spring. Normally I don't rant, but there seems to be an issue. I'm looking for another product.

Been using these tapes for years, the blade extends and doesn't kink, the lock works great,they retract consistently,they are rugged,accurate and they last.

After using other tapes, I keep coming back to the Fatmax tapes.

This is a good tape measure that I carry every day. I own a couple of them. One recently broke (tape would no longer come out - locked inside). Contacted the company and within a day or so I received an email from an actual person - Eduard. They needed a pic and the receipt. No problem, emailed these back to them. A few days later I received a new tape in the mail. In this day of non-responsive companies, this was IMPRESSIVE warranty service! They've definitely earned my business.

It's come through just fine, still works great. The only thing I don't like about it, is a small measuring tape like this is meant to be carried in your pocket. But it has a magnet on the side that sticks to everything in my pocket, my pocket knife, loose change, etc. I would have given it five stars If it didn't have that pesky magnet.
