Can't beat the value
Excellent set. It took a friend and I about 4 ours to assemble. We used a 12 foot 4x4 for the top instead of the 10 foot it called for. That allows the swings to be a little further apart, so the kids don't bump into each other. I also have a very little one and the rock wall was too steep and would be for quite some time. So I took that apart and used the same wood to make steps up to the slide instead. The base is very wide so you don't have to worry about tipping. My buddy and I had to make sure it was sturdy enough before the kids got on and we had no issues swinging. All the parts were there and the instructions were easy to follow. There were two regular swings, so if you have a smaller kid, don't forget to order a baby swing. Good overall products, especially for about a thousand less than the other sets out there.

overall, very satisfied
Definitely recommend using a redwood stain before assembly, two coats. The 12' 4x4 overhead beam as suggested by others is a must to give extra spacing for the swings. I added 1x6 pieces on each side of the platform at the bottom to enclose it and then filled it with sand to add another play activity. When attaching the overhead beam, I leaned the A frame against the tailgate of my truck, stood in the truck, and attached the 4x4 at that end with the rest of the beam resting on the platform A frame. 1.5 hour assembly time is a joke. Took about 8 hours assembly, plus two days of staining, drying time. Grandkids already loving it.

Does the set have to be on an even service
My yard slobes a bit and was wondering if I can install this on a not 100% flat surface?

Read everything before you buy this ...
For starters this is an excellent swing set very very sturdy I am 6'2" and 250 lbs and I can swing on this set ! Was very disappointed when I got excited and bought the set online for what seemed like a fair price compared to a lot of simaler sets but I didn't read enough to realize no slide and no 4x4 s were included, my bad ... By the time the set was done and ready to use I had another 175 or so bucks into the original cost at first I was not to happy but after we have used it and enjoyed it , it was worth it I know it will be in great shape years down the road , just be ready to fork out more than just what the kit cost . I would also recommend using a 12 or 14 ft 4x4 for the top pretty small with the 10 footer

    Excellent playset
I was looking for a sturdy playset for my son that wouldn't overwhelm our yard. I had almost settled on one of the complete sets from other stores, but am very glad I found this instead. Yes, you do have to provide the 4x4's and slide separately, and yes, that adds up to closer to double the price of the kit itself, but in the end it's still a fantastic set for cheap. I went through previous reviews and made several changes: -Like many others, I used a 12' 4x4 for the top. The swing spacing is great. -3.5" deck screws are well worth it. The included ones are short and didn't seem to hold nearly as tight. -I left off the sole handlebar that was included and purchased two 2-packs separately. One set is where the instructions indicate, the other on the top rung of the ladder. -I'll be buying another set of 4 of the rock-climbing grips. One on each step of the ladder will fit my son better. -I used the Alpine Wave slide instead of the Cool Wave. It's a bit more, but it looks sturdier. -I'll be adding an extra 3' 2x4 rail to each side of the deck to prevent falls. -I've got some tread tape to install on the top deck to prevent falls. All in all, it took five hours across two days, with a friend on each day, and as noted there are a few small things I need to finish still. Nothing about the setup is difficult, but it will take time. I only had trouble with one or two boards splitting a bit, and none were warped or damaged. During the setup, I was able to stand on the deck without an issue, and when finished, two adult men could swing at once.

      Good product
Had some difficulty putting this together and did have to purchase additional wood and put a coat of weatherproof finish on it. The end result was nice and the kids love it.

      Happy with purchase
May have been able to do cheaper without buying kit, but was convenient value for me. Had several missing parts on delivery but company sent parts without an issue. I used a 12 footer instead of 10 foot beam...was able to have 3 swings (2 regular plus toddler bucket). I used included screws and have not had issues.

Excellent, must like do it yourself projects
Read all reviews, read all instructions, pick your wood and get two boxes of 3" deck screws. Must like do it yourself projects. Overall great kit, we used 4x4x12 across the top, we just felt more comfortable having more space between the swings. This set is at Grandma and Grandpa's with teenage Aunt and Uncles as well as many young great nieces and nephews that visit often. The one hour assembly is a joke, plan on 5-6 hours. Ordering online ensures availability with the box on cart ready to go, we also ordered the slide. Pick your wood first 6 4x4x8's and 1 4x4x12 as well as screws, then get your online order at customer service. We were transversing home depot with the swing set and slide, the wood cart and shopping cart , luckily there were 3 adults. Over all very pleased Grandparents

        Great Basic Swing and Slide
We have a very small yard and were looking for something the kids would really enjoy without having to give up too much space. Set up took about 3 hours with 2 of us working on it. Everything was pretty easy, the instructions were very basic but didn't really need to be any more detailed. My kids absolutely LOVE having the swings in the backyard and the slide is great. We followed the example of a few of the previous reviews and got a longer 4x4 for the top beam. We have ours sticking out over/past the a-frame by the swings and put one of those monkey ring bars on it which was a great addition. I would agree with other reviewers that the boards (2x4's and decking boards) that come with the kit were extremely dry and cracked easily. We ended up doing some pre-drilling which helped. Overall not a big issue but good to be aware of it. I might eventually replace those boards with better boards but they are fine for now! One design tweak we made was to move the rails by the slide platform to the outside of the A-Frames. Then we put a steering wheel on one side and some cool buttons and switches on the other... (Emergency stop, toggle switches, etc) they fit perfectly and make the platform even more fun for imaginative boys! We also added a second rail below to make the platform a bit safer for our 2yr old. Another thing worth noting... we originally got treated 4x4s from Home Depot which had REALLY sharp (square) edges. I was worried about the splinters. Then we went to Lowes and found treated 4x4s with nice soft rounded edges... saved me from spending hours sanding and or having to pull splinters from kids hands! Make sure you save time and money and just get the rounded 4x4s to start. I'd imagine home depot has them they just weren't in stock when I was there. Overall a great looking setup for a small back yard, and we couldn't be happier!

        Well worth the price
Total spent on this set with slide and lumber $390. Yes you have to purchase the slide and 4x4's separate. The finished product is very sturdy and will last a long time. I took the advice of another review and purchased a longer 4x4 for the top beam. Apparently it is hard to find a 4x4x16 so I went with a 12'. This was well worth it and only a few dollars more. If you purchase this set have a helper and do not pre-drill the top beam before you mount it onto the a-frames. Place the top beam on the a-frames line it up attach with the 2.5" screws then drill the bolt holes from underneath.

          Worth the price of admission
If you are looking for a sturdy swing set which is compact this is the one for you. The temptation to buy a swing set made of aluminum and plastic due to price was a thought. But when it came down to it we went with this as its 1000% more sturdy than an aluminium set and will last years longer. All said and done we were at about $450. That includes the kit, lumber, slide, and I had to buy bucket swing seats as our little guy was too young for the seats that come with the kit. I didnt mind doing that as this set will last for years and when he is old enough we can just switch the swing seats out. Two words of caution: The manual says 1 1/2 hour build time. I consider myself pretty handy and my father is very handy and it took us 4-5 hours to build start to finish. Its not tricky or technical just takes time. Lastly make sure the 4x4 you pick up are as straight as possible. It makes squaring the set so much eaiser.

            Swing set was complete success.
As others have said, it takes a full day with 2 people. If I did another one it would probably only take a half day. We used the 16' top beam, thanks for the tip. Hints: if you have a very small piece of 4x4 use it to create a template with the mounting plates to drill the holes for the 'A' frames. Drill from the bottom of the beam. It'll make it a lot easier to insert the bolts. You'll probably need to plane/sand/strip the 4x4s where little hands can pick up splinters. It all came together well, looks great. Granddaughter is thrilled.

Very solid, but I recommend a few modifications
As others have said, this is a nice solid swing set. Much better than the "complete sets" you can buy for similar prices at Wal Mart, etc. I did incorporate the changes recommended by others: buy a 4x4x16 for your header. Make the span from A frame #1 to A frame #2 12 feet instead of 10 (it gives more reasonable room between swings) and hang the header over 4 ft to hang another swing, it's plenty sturdy! One other thing I added once my 2 year climbed up: another 2x4 rail on the platform. the one they have leaves room for a little one to fall to the ground. All you need is 2, 3 foot long 2x4's and it will prevent a fall. Just mount if half way between the recommended rail and the platform. I will say one more thing: a couple of the other reviews recommended using 3 or 3.5 " deck screws. That's fine, but I thought the screws provided were just fine. they are 2.25" and that's plenty to dig in and hold tight to a 4x4. Save yourself $20! One other reminder: if you do add the extra swing like I did, remember to buy the swing (of your choice) AND the kit to hang it...Home Depot has these. I bought at store but I'm sure you can find it online and order it with this set. Overall time: about 4 hours by myself to build the A frames and platform/ladder and drill the header ... then about 3 hours with a helper to assemble, anchor and add swings and slide. Good luck!

Good product - see my tip for easier assembly
Well designed product, fairly sturdy, clear instructions, includes drill bits etc. As other reviewers have said, 1) go with a 12 foot beam across the top, not 10 feet (too crowded) 2) get your own bucket of 3" deck screws as the included "torx" head screws don't hold well - thread is not fine enough. 3) To attach the top beam to the A frames: don't bother trying to drill the holes for the bolts from the top -- you'll never line them up with the [square] bolt holes in the brackets. Instead, assemble and line up the structure using just screws, and then--- rev up your electric drill to max and using the included bit, drill right THROUGH the metal bracket square hole and up and through the top beam! The metal of the bracket is so soft that the bit easily goes through. Then push through the bolt -- done.

              Easily done
Started to purchase the hardware seperately. Cost more than this Kit. Took to heart recommendations to check for warped boards, none, homedepot said if I did find some I could get an exchange. Made the top beam from a 16 foot 4x4, so I would have 3 foot at each end to add toddler swing and a climb rope. project took 2 days off and on with an 8 yeard old grandson "helping". I'm almost 70 and I only needed help in holding the top beam in place while anchoring the lone standing A-frame. Leaning the A-frame against a stout ladder really helped. Staking the bottom of the slide was a little tricky and not realy clear with directions. Hope i did it ok. I drilled the two end holes for the beam, anchored it to the A-Frames and then went back and drill the holes for the rest of the anchor bolts. That way I did'nt have to worry about aligning all the holes. Drilling was easy with the backets alread installed. Sometimes my tape messes up and some of my holes are not where they were supposed to be.

Quality of wood that comes with kit is subpar
This is a good a value...just remember to get the additional wood you have to purchase separately and get the slide you have to purchase separately as well. And as everyone mentiones.....forgo the cheap screws that come with the kit and get yourself 3.5 inch deck screws. They do a much better job holding up the wood together. I hired an installer for this project and am sure glad I did. It took him, by himself (part of the problem), about 8 hours to finish. Also..on another note, when buying the pressure treated wood lengths you will need to get at home depot, really do some cherry picking, as there was a lot of JUNK wood there that should have never been sold to the public. Splintering everywhere, etc. If there is ANY splintering, don't buy it, because when the time comes to screw in the deck screws into the wood, the splinters will become huge cracks. Really dissapointed in the quality of the pressure treated wood at home depot. Overall though, My son 2 1/2 year old loves the playset. Is' cool looking with the yellow slide. I also noticed the other day a lot of ants all over the wood frame of the playset. I don't why this is happening, but have to keep an eye on it in case I have to treat the wood. Value is good.....I only paid 120 bucks for the installation from a guy I found on craigslist. I sent him the link to the product before so he could give me a quote. I don't think he fully comprehended the magnitude of work that was going to be involved..especially since he was by himself. I got lucky.....you may not. But professional installer or not, you want at LEAST 2 people doing this.....one person is just not feasible.

Some advice, what it really costs, and Yes, its worth it.
There are plenty of reviews that talk about how nice this product is and at the same time complain about how you have to buy a bunch of extra stuff. You will notice that they still give it 4 to 5 stars, why? Because it is so strong and so beautiful when completed, the picture does not do it justice. Here is some practical advice I can share that I gleaned from experience. What it actually costs as of May 7th 2012 and what you need to buy to complete it… The Set……………….…$209.00 The Slide……………..….$91.97 6 4x4s……………………$40.62 1 4x4x16’………………..$17.00 (You only really need a 4x4x10) 4” Deck Screws ………….$6.99 (optional) Subtotal…………………$365.58 Total with 8%tax………..$394.83 So you are really looking at $400 but then you might find the slide on craigslist and save $60 there. Yeah, way more expensive than the $170 metal ones, but really, you want that 5-foot tall swaying contraption in your yard? I read that others that did this, and I did it too…Buy 4” deck screws for putting the A-frames together (2x4 to 4x4) much stronger than what it comes with. If you do anything other than 10’ for the beam you will have to figure the measurements yourself, but it is well worth it for the extra swings. Just be really careful when you measure the beam for drilling holes for attaching the A-frames, this is the hardest part. I would recommend that you measure and drill the holes for the single A-frame (non-slide A-frame) and for only one of the slide holding A-frames, get those in place and then drill the final two holes for the other slide holding A-frame. We tried to do it all at once and our holes were off for the second slide holding A-frame and so we had to re-drill. Also the bolts they give you for attaching the A-frame can be frustrating, you could get it done a lot faster drilling through the square hole in the plate with the drill bit they give you and just installing ordinary bolts of that size (I can’t remember the size), we did that for the last one. Consider buying a 4x4x16’ vs. a 4x4x12’. I was able to give a little extra space between the two swings in the middle, but extended the 4x4, 32” over each end and was able to add a horsey swing and a twirl and whirl with plenty of room and strength for my little daughter. So I got 4 swings on a 2 swing set just buy buying a longer beam for the top. Some have said to use 4x6, I did not do this. I grabbed the end of the 4x4 and hung my 210lb body and that 32” overhang did not budge. You don’t need to use 9’ 4x4s for the A-frame, it is plenty tall. Obviously I considered doing this. As for other misc. notes, the directions are not great but not horrible, they do have them online if your box does not come with any, ours didn’t. It will take 6 – 10 hours. If you have a router, get the corners off the 4x4s, looks a lot nicer and no splinters, otherwise use sand paper. Others complained about warped boards, ours weren’t warped, they were fine, and they seemed to be sanded down pretty smooth so no concerns about splinters. Anyway, my 2 going on 3 daughter is thrilled, and having a ball out there every day. Yes you pay for more than what comes in the box, but it is so much nicer than those cheap metal ones

                    poor buy
This item looks great from the pic. But it does not come ready to assemble. It does not come with every thing you need to assemble it. I was very unhappy when I got it and had to tell my 3 year old little girl that she was not getting her swing set.

                      Does Not Come Complete
We didn't read the fine print and since you can't see the box on here it is a little misleading. You do not get half of the play set. NO slide and NO limber is not included...only PART of the lumber is. I would have saved money had I known this and bought a complete set. Now I have to drive all over kingdom come to find the rest of the parts(we live in the middle of no where). I hope this is worth it in the end as we have not set it up yet.

                        Overall great product
Overall this is a great playset. Just what my kids wanted and not too big. It took me about 4 hours to put it together working by myself. It would have been easier with a helper, but it's not absolutely necessary. Here are a few construction tips that I learned while assembling. The holes in the top beam were a pain to get lined up correctly. As someone else already mentioned, I would strongly suggest only drilling the first and last hole for the brackets. You can also drill the swing holes. The location for those is not as critical. After placing the top beam, put the bolts through the first and last hole. Then take a smaller drill bit and drill up through the holes in the other brackets for the other bolts. Then take the 3/8 bit and drill down through the same hole. The reason for the smaller bit first is that the 3/8 bit is too big to fit through the bracket hole. Make sure that you get the swing plate oriented correctly. There is an elongated hole that should line up with the swing hanger when it is turned to swing front to back. I put the first 2 on backwards before I realized my mistake. The hardware that comes with the set is not marked very well. Take some time to sort out what you have and make sure you have everything. I didn't get enough 5/16 in. washers and had to supply my own. Some of the 2-1/2 in. screws that came with mine looked like they were not zinc coated. I had some extras lying around so I just used those.

                            Read the fine print
Make sure you read the fine print because this doesn't come with the slide or the four by fours. We didn't find that out till we got the thing. You would think that something called a Swing-N-Slide playset would come with a slide. Go figure.

This is a good product. and very stable. If your area is not flat, be prepared to take extra time to assemble and level the set. We did find it helpful to wait on drilling the holes in the top beam, except for the outside brace holes and swing holes, until after the beam was in place. We then drilled the holes from below up through the brace and beam to ensure the holes lined up.

I got this for my grandchildren and they love it! My son in law was intimidated by the on line reviews regarding putting it together, so hired a professional to do it. It took him 3 hours and cost another $75. While a great finished product, there is nothing easy about assembly.

                            Very Nice Set!
we bought this for a birthday present and are very happy with it. Assembly time 1 hour, however, is misleading.. Unless they're talking about someone whose assembled a million Duckieif these things, but still very nice. It also says it will only have room for the 2 included swings but you can add a 3rd and be fine. VERY SATISFIED.

                            Backyard FUN!
This is a great product! My kids LOVE it! I have a 3 and 1 year old that will not stop playing! I have a construction family and it did take a little longer to put together than it said, but not horribly. I am impressed with the weight it holds. My hubby swung on it to test it out. I wouldn't suggest it all the time, but I was impressed.

                            Great first swing set
Easy put together AFTER you BUY the extra pieces. My own fault for not reading the description all the way. Took about 4 hours to put together with wife's help. Great afternoon project.
