Had to "cure" this Dutch Oven, by using vegetable oil and heating it up in the oven for an hour at 350 before using. This was not a great process. I've done this in the past with an iron frying pan, etc. It left the outside tacky and my entire apartment smelling kinda funky for a few days. The price is right, and it's certainly a solid pot, but we'll see how well it goes the distance... which it should! (The bottom is almost completely flat. And you can't use metal utensils in it. So... it's kinda persnickety. Just saying.)

The Tramontina Gourmet Enameled 5.5 Qt. Cast Iron Covered Round Dutch Oven in Dark Blue more than meets our expectations. It is a classy looking, well-made dutch oven and cooks breads beautifully. In addition, it is very easy to clean. WONDERFUL BUY!

This was a great buy! I've used it to cook chicken breasts that stay moist, as well as some soups and stir fries. It wasn't pricey like other dutch ovens can be, but does the job well. The volume capacity is great and the red color is lovely. Would recommend!

The packaging was sturdy and the Dutch Oven was protected well in transit. Out of the box, it was beautiful and I was excited to have an enameled cast iron oven primarily for baking sourdough bread. The directions suggest seasoning the exposed rim of the oven and lid, so I followed the directions; rubbing oil around the edge and baking them. The oil ran down the sides of the pot and we have been unable to remove it. While it doesn't affect the function of the pan, it certainly is no longer a thing of beauty. I wish I knew how to get the gummy oil off the enamel. The pot arrived in great condition and works wonderfully, so it would get 5 stars, if not for the dark drips down the side.

Nice looking functional Dutch Oven. Didn't love having to season the rim of the top and the pot. Baked sourdough in it yesterday and it came out beautifully and cleaned up easily. First use.

Very good value for one third the price a French brand name. The workmanship is solid.

Great pot for the money. I know there are manufactures that could make it in the US. I would happily pay more especially if the materials were also from the US. And made with the conscience of a good environment.

The Dutch Oven is wonderful! It is well made and I believe it will last a lifetime.

Weve already used it a couple times and it works great! First for meat and stew, potatoes, vegetables. Worked great with all.
