was using my dad's old six pounder to break up some old broken concrete culvert for fill material...
was using my dad's old six pounder to break up some old broken concrete culvert for fill material - the sledge is at least as old as me - dad had got it from his dad or ? I am nearing seventy. I noticed while using it that it could break on the next bad swing. So,l I bought this handle as a security blanket (I just don't need it . . . yet. And, when I do need it I don't have to stop what I'm doing.

It's hickory and it is properly shaped to fit the mallet head. What else could you ask? Oh,it included a metal wedge. Perfect if you don't bungle inserting it. Now I have one 'mother of a sledge hammer' again. Thank you for carrying on the tradition. I love restoring old tools and thanks to Home Depot, I could.
