Very good quality. I put it in a plastic tub and keep adding water until it loosens up enough to use. Then I can spread it over my garden and mix it into the soil.

Second time I have bought this cocoa coir, it's really good quality.

I was using alot of coconut coir and it just didn't make any sense to continue to buy small bags. Finally I bought the block from Vermont Organics and I'm so glad I did. I broke the block up per instructions in the box and I was amazed at how much product I had! Not only is an economical decision but the product comes in a cardboard box without any plastic at all. I recycled the box and that was that; I didn't have to send anything to the landfill. I combined it with an equal amount of vermiculite and 1\2 the amount of organic soil. My plants are as happy as they can be. I highly recommend this product and this supplier. A word to the wise...prior to using this coir, make sure you rinse it to remove any small particles of dust that would otherwise clump up the growing medium.

I have not had a chance to use this, as it came later than Home Depot promised, and I had to get the new bushes in the ground before winter set in. A big disappointment in Home Depot so the low rating is for them.

Just add water plus other nutrients as needed. Awesome product!

i have not used it yet but i have gotten this a few times before..... if using to grow herbs i would wash it out in a mesh then it gets any sand stuff out and then i put it in water with 8 teaspoons of cal-mag for 12 hours, add 30% perlite and you got top quality grow media....this stuff is better then other brands i have tried of the same thing...if using to grow fruits and veggies i would not worry about doing the step i mention that is for if you grow anything sensitive to nutrients such as herbs...definitely worth the money!

The compost is packaged without plastic and simple to rehydrate and use! I love it!

Twas a solid block, unwrapped, in a cardboard box; not as fine as some, had a few stringy clumps, hence 4 stars instead of 5. I like the product, love the value and I never tried breaking or cutting it into pieces; I used a plastic storage bin, sized to accommodate the narrowest edge of the block, and added water. Once absorbed I lifted the block and rubbed the damp fiber off the block, repeating the process till I had the desired amount.

I have used these bricks for years but just recently started weighing them . They are not 11 but 9 pounds. Every single one. I am still happy with the product but the description needs to change.

quality of the material was excellent. However, I was very surprised this appeared unwrapped in a box... not that I'm a fan of over packaging, but the box had been dropped and the brick had partly disintegrated making quite a mess in the box and leaking out of the hole in the box

After having problems with bagged potting mixes harboring pests, I gave coco coir a try. It has been reliable for both seed starting & potted plants. It absorbs a lot of water but dries faster than peat (with no “crust” formation on the surface.

It was terrible coco had a chemical smell and killed my plants with the toxicins bin the coco!

This is a great price and I appreciate that it is free delivery, but it was left on the front stoop, in a cardboard box and it rained before I could retrieve it. Too bad it wasn’t left on either porch!

I’ve order over 50lbs of this coco coir & it’s by far the best I’ve ever used. No plastic or other foreign objects inside like other brands. Very good quality, smells like Earth or Jungle/(Rain)Forest soil when rehydrated. Very resistant to mold. No acetone or sulfur chemical smell like other brands I’ve used. Coco coir is much better than peat as it’s not acidic and is sustainable & good for the environment. Coco coir is actually a waste product of the coconut trade, so it’s being put to good use in the garden instead of being thrown out or burnt to be made into charcoal which causes pollution. Growing with coco coir also sequesters carbon in the soil. To the people complaining about the packaging - I actually appreciate it comes in just an empty box. It’s much better for the environment. What’s the need for plastic in this case anyway? Also the weight of the bricks vary slightly so the broken pieces are just to make sure you get exactly the weight you paid for, which I also very much appreciate.

This is a great buy and I hydrate it in a large bin and use it to layer in my compost bin.

Great product. I watered it and it expanded enough to fill an 18 gallon tote.

Came as loose chunks, unwrapped in the box. It weighed the correct amount and was ok when hydrated, maybe a bit coarser than some others I have bought and I have bought a lot. It mostly just seemed sketchy on first impression. I would buy it again, but I'd weigh it again, too.
